Dexter New Blood is the most-watched series in Showtime history.

Showtime is desperate for hits.  So they may green light a spinoff but I don't know if Harrison played by that actor would be anywhere near as popular.

Cast Hall as the middle-aged Harrison!

Don't do the ghost Dexter thing with Harrison, that would make viewers roll their eyes too much to actually watch that kind of spinoff.

Killer ending on Dexter: New Blood delivered record ratings to Showtime

The 10th episode of the event series, which kicked off Nov. 7 on Showtime, averaged 3 million viewers — the network's biggest finale in eight years, surpassing the season 3 finale of Homeland in 2013. It also set a streaming and on-demand record for Showtime with 2 million folks tuning in via non-traditional platforms to watch their favorite antihero played by Michael C. Hall.

Over its entire run, the series averaged more than 8 million weekly viewers across multiple platforms — which made Dexter: New Blood the most-watched series in Showtime history, the network reports. It also helped Showtime get some much-needed subscribers, the cable network says it acquired the most signups in its history at the end of 2021.

‘Dexter: New Blood’ Boss On Shocking Finale; Teases Possible New Season

DEADLINE: In the finale, Dexter is shot by Harrison and he is bleeding out, but the viewer doesn’t see he’s definitely dead. Can you confirm so there is no doubt left?

PHILLIPS: I have three words for you: Dexter is dead. I wouldn’t do that to the audience. It would be dishonest. Here, there is no question that this is the finale of Dexter. Dexter is dead.

DEADLINE: What can you tease about Angela and Harrison’s lives after the episode ends?

PHILLIPS: With Harrison, we don’t know. But with Angela, if you recall, she calls in an officer-involved shooting. She’s going to say that she had to take out Dexter because there’s lots of evidence he murdered Logan (Alano Miller) and because Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher. And Dexter probably killed Matt (Steve M. Robertson), though she’s not sure she can prove that.

I think Angela’s decision to let Harrison go was born of the horror that she had just witnessed. Her whole life has been this missing persons board and now all these women are dead. She needed humanity and maybe for maternal instinct to take over for justice—just this one moment of grace.

We know that the FBI and CSI and all of these people are coming to town and she’s going to have to deal with all of that. She’s going to have to talk about Dexter and she’s gonna have to talk about Logan. She’s probably going to lie and say she had to kill Dexter in self-defense.

Let’s not forget, this was her lover. She trusted this guy and she could’ve been another victim.

You know if they were going to have Hall reprise one of his signature roles, they should just reboot Six Feet Under instead of Dexter.

The only thing that makes sense would be Dexter becoming like Harry was in the first few seasons, providing guidance to Harrison in Harrison's mind. That premise doesn't interest me much. And the premise of dexter surviving the end of New Blood interests me even less, so I'm not that excited about a revival. I'll probably check out the prequel series. I don't really see the need for it given the flashbacks that exist in the first few seasons, but I'll give it a chance.
