Sixteen-year-old Nathan is the illegitimate son of the world’s most feared witch. He’s spent his whole life being monitored for signs he may follow the same destructive path as his father. But as tensions escalate, the old boundaries between “good” and “bad” fray and Nathan will discover what sort of person he truly is. This is an angsty, roller-coaster ride of a young adult show about a troubled kid who has the indomitable will to survive and defy the odds. The series is based on the Half Bad trilogy of books written by Sally Green.

The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself takes place in modern-day England, in a world inhabited by covert witches; one faction is "good" and the other is "evil". They are divided by their hatred and united by one only thing, their fear of a boy, Nathan Byrne, that is descended from both sides. Nathan is the illegitimate son of the world’s most powerful and notorious witch, Marcus Edge, who is responsible for a horrifically deadly massacre. Nathan's mother is dead. Nathan is seen as an asset and a threat by both witch factions and is "closely and constantly" being monitored. With his witch powers manifesting quickly, it is really up to Nathan, with some help from his friends and allies, to decide what path he should take. And of course there is that prophecy.
