This is true because, unfortunately, there are not nearly as many black couples seeking to adopt a child and because black birth mothers unsurprisingly would like their children to be raised by black parents instead of mixed or non-black couples. So, you're right; Rome and Gina are going to have a far shorter wait than a non-black couple because black birth mothers tend to favor black couples and there are proportionately fewer black couples looking to adopt. White couples can face a much longer wait to adopt a child of any race. Unfortunately, there is a supply vs demand component and many white couples seek transracial adoptions because the adoption fees tend to be significantly less for non-white babies. 1 Link to comment
