  1. legaleagle - your 'Anton-in-a-nutshell' is spot on. I find him unremittingly irritating, so hope your hunch about being Len-in-waiting is wrong! If Brucie had retired a few years ago, I think Anton might have got the job. It's one of the few positives I take from Sir Bruce outstaying his welcome for such a long time.. .
  2. Mark Wright is confirmed. I'm a bit disappointed Strictly have signed someone from reality TV (albeit one with a slender presenting career beyond that) and hope it isn't a sign of things to come.
  3. The very same! Just a rumor, though. The celebs are being announced by drip feed, so we should have them all by the launch show.
  4. Hello! Strictly is my 'home' show. I complain about it often, but only because I love it. I post on a UK board which can become a little heated at times, so it will be interesting to hear thoughts about the show from a different perspective.
  5. Hi - the full line-up is: Karen Hauer Joanne Clifton (newbie) Natalie Lowe (usually preceded by 'the divine...') Ola Jordan Iveta Lukosuite Kristina Rhianoff Aliona Vilani Janette Manrara Brendan Cole Anton du Beke Alijaz Skorjanec Trent Whiddon (in for Robin) Tristan MacManus (newbie ;-)) Kevin Clifton Pasha Kovalev I have no idea why Anton is indestructible... Very sorry to lose Anya after only one series, but if they were determined to get Joanne, someone had to go. It may have been her choice, of course, but she's quiet and reserved and so was her celeb last time, so perhaps she just didn't make enough impact. They've made a point of saying she'll be involved with choreography, so maybe they are keeping her close for future seasons. She's one of my favorites, but I'm surprised they kept Aliona. Perhaps there was a deal done last year when she stepped in last minute, after having been unceremoniously dumped, and did duffer-duty with good grace. Janette is also a surprise (comparing to Anya). She was unlucky with her celeb last time and didn't make the best impression, but maybe she comes as a package with Aljaz. I'm still quietly weeping at the loss of Artem (not even the lovely Tristan can compensate completely), but I wish him well on DwtS and hope he gets a decent partner.
  6. Also confirmed: Simon Webbe from boyband Blue (were very big a while back). Took part in Strictly Christmas Special Rumored: Jake Wood - Soap actor Helen Skelton - TV presenter (has also done the Xmas Special, so maybe less likely now Simon is in) Gregg Wallace - TV presenter (was strongly rumored, not so much recently) Jenny Jones - Snowboarder Mark Wright - reality TV 'star', TV presenter and boyfriend of a soap actress (also rumored, but unlikely) Michael Owen - retired soccer player Dave Berry - radio presenter Kelly Hoppen - interior designer and TV personality Michelle Collins - soap actress Ross Kemp - actor/presenter Shona McGarty - another soapie! Tyger Drew-Honey - actor Angelica Bell - presenter Carole Cleveland - part of Monty Python
  7. TMZ are reporting that the show wants Julianne as permanent fourth Judge. http://www.tmz.com/2014/08/19/julianne-hough-judge-dancing-with-the-stars-dwts-maxim/ So say "sources" ....
  8. Lol! Yes, that sounds right (though I didn't realise DwtS Tango was meant to be 'International'. Interesting). What SCD calls American Smooth really muddies the waters - not following either code, but a path all its own :-)
  9. Well it's a right old mish-mash then, because Standard/International doesn't have all the side-by-side and breaking hold we see on the show. Not to mention the "faffin' abaht" that Len hates so much ;-)
  10. Well, possibly, unless they see him as treading on their turf....;-). To be honest, the ballroom requirements on the two shows differ quite a lot and Artem's ballroom inclinations are closer to the American style (out of hold, side by side etc) than the Standard style (tenuously) favored by SCD.
  11. Artem did four series of Strictly, winning the first with Kara Tointon, reaching the semi-finals in year two, mid-table year three (with an older celeb) and was runner up last year with Natalie Gumede. This is a fan-video compilation from last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RE1wgQOcgw and one from his first year (training footage): He and Kara were still together earlier this year but it looks like they've gone their separate ways now, though I couldn't say for sure. His reputation was for being strict in the training room, expecting his celeb to work hard and being creative with choreography. He got into trouble with Len frequently for not putting in enough traditional content in the ballroom dances.
  12. I've seen him in Burn the Floor and he's very, very nice to watch :-). Here's an interview with him from last year: http://www.afridiziak.com/theatrenews/interviews/february2013/keoikantse-motsepe.html
  13. Hi - the main show airs on Saturday evening with the results show airing Sunday evening (although it's recorded after the main show on Sat). I know the BBC uploads videos to YT, but I haven't paid attention to how quickly, I'm afraid. There's also It Takes Two which airs every week night for half an hour at 6.30 in which the couples come on and talk about how they're doing, choreography gets discussed, training clips etc (and a fair bit of fluff). Each couple will appear on the sofa at some point each week. I don't think the BBC put it on YT, so you may have to do some digging to find a way to watch on the website ;-). There will be a launch show on 6th September (?) in which they pair up the celebs and pros for the first time and everyone takes part in a (usually shambolic) group dance. Then they start training with their celeb. The first show 'proper' will likely be three weeks after that, so the end of September. The pros started rehearsing yesterday (for pro numbers etc), so I expect Tristan to be on his way here very soon....
  14. There's only one season of SCD per year and it overlaps completely in the fall. (SCD starts pro rehearsals in August and the final is the week before Christmas). I suppose he could appear on the Spring season..... He has the personality to be really popular on Strictly and they usually (if they can) give the new pros a contender so they stick around long enough to gel with the audience.
  15. Hi there - new poster here! Strictly Come Dancing has announced it's pros for the coming season and Artem is definitely NOT in the line-up (so will be on DwtS???) ..... and Tristan is joining the UK show!
  16. Hello! I'm new to this board but used to lurk on TwoP. Love Tristan and thought he was treated shabbily by the show. Anyway, just thought you should know, Tristan has signed for Strictly Come Dancing over here in the UK. https://www.facebook.com/bbcstrictly
