  1. I think my favorite line tonight was 'of the two options, one is not an option', because, seriously.  One is not an option and the fact that half the country seems to think that he is, is scary.

When I heard what Trump said, the first thing I thought of was 'treason' and I cannot believe the Republicans are trying to excuse it.  Someone who takes the office of the presidency seriously would not say something like that and the fact that he doesn't realize that's not something he should have said, says everything you need to know.

TDS/Trevor Noah should call Trump, "Dumb Donald" from now on since Trump looooves reducing people to nasty nicknames. And with luck this one will either stick or get under Trump's skin so much he get into a public temper tantrum to show the undecided his true colours.

I've thought that very thing since the first time Trevor called him that.  Dumb Donald is perfect for him.  If everyone else has to have a nick name, why not Dumb Donald?

During the east coast airing of South Park in the TDS slot, there was a banner on the screen saying The Daily Show would start, live, "as soon as Trump stops talking".

I haven't erased this yet, but was going to without looking at it, since I knew it was South Park and not TDS, but now I will take a look at it, just to see that banner.  He does like to talk (or maybe to just hear himself talk).

  3. Regarding the timing of the show.  I'm on the east coast (so is Cleveland) and the RNC ended shortly after 11:30 pm (eastern) and Trevor started a few minutes later so the show was on, live, after the speech ended and I guess they worked really fast to get those clips into the show.  I'm not sure if this helps with what futurechemist was asking, but assuming they aired the show live across the country, the west coast would have seen the live feed shortly after 8:30...

That was the end of the show. It went to James Corden.  I had to manually record Late Late Show as I figured the speeches would run long. Thank god I did, Jon had just started right before 12:35 am.

Critics are saying this caps off the week Colbert needed. So what does that tell us?  Politics and edgy?

And no I was getting teary eyed by the end of Jon's rant. Shut up!!

I think Billy on the Street guy came out after Warren, so there's was still some time left on the show.  I don't usually like Billy (too yell-y), but he was OK last night. Had some funny things to say.  I think the show ended after that (but it was late, so maybe I'm misremembering).

  5. I'm watching this episode again and I cannot believe the guy was going to sell that 'smart' plate for $200.  And you'd only be able to use it at home.  And I wonder how you wash it.  I'm assuming it can't go in the dishwasher - and if you had a 4 person family, that's $800 for dishes.  IMO, that's crazy money.

Gary having the couch removed was a great callback.

Can someone refresh my memory about this? I'm drawing a blank as to when or why this happened...

Rachel saying "You're welcome" in Russian.  That is all.  <3 <3 <3

ETA:  Oh, that is not all, after all, because she read from the "astonishingly healthy" medical report of the Trump "doctor"/PR flack.  That never gets old, unlike the current 70-year-old candidate.

Seriously, what doctor would write something like that?  The medical association should look into his credentials, because no self-respecting medical professional would write that crap.

I'm in love with Sally Phillips as Minna Häkkinen.  Put her in more episodes, please.

Amen.  I want her in every episode.  I think she is fantastic.  Too bad she's a foreigner and it wouldn't make sense to make her part of the Veep's team.

So I watched the latest episode first on tv, then showed the bit about evangelicals and the Republican Party to my son via the internets. Since I had deleted the episode I can't check, but I swear that while the cross being, um, inserted in the elephant was moving online, on TBS it was stationary. Anyone care to confirm this weird little bit of Noooo, that's too far....?

I checked last night, specifically because of your post.  The elephant moved once, and Sam said something like 'I hope they sanded that thing'.  So yes, the cross did move, which caused the elephant to move, once.

Yes, I think it is - I was having some deja vu moments there, and have been googling, so I'm glad it's not just me!

    (or maybe we're from the future, @ebk57?  ;)  )

My DVR thinks it's new - but it's not, and I'm bummed.  They'll probably be off next week too (unless someone at TBS ran the wrong episode tonight, which-yikes).

ClareWalks:  Thanks for the excellent product review.  I've gotten a number of Shark Tank products over the years, and was thinking about the SheFit, but I', glad I waited.  Thanks for taking one for the team!

ClareWalks - I too, was waiting for your review before ordering one.  I guess I won't be ordering one now.  Thanks for the update.

  12. I just finished watching this and started crying as soon as she started reading the letter at the end.  Those effing men should be ashamed of what they did to her.  I wish the video rental guy had gone to the Washington Post.  Maybe he did and no one cared.  I wonder how many of those senators would say, today, that they made the right decision in confirming him. If they had any sense of shame or honor, they would admit they were wrong.  And we all know how willing they are to admit when they are wrong.  Ha.

  13. I loved how big the sign was for the band - considering they were playing for maybe 50 people.  Either get a bigger crowd or don't make it seem like they are playing for packed theater.

Yeah, I should probably stop watching this show.

  14. So Phil is on some kind of 'staycation' and Claire is working but she won't have time to cook anything that night?  What year is this?  This, along with the 'making lunch for my adult kids' thing, makes me think the writers are drunk.

Loved Mr. Arkin.  He was the only good thing about this episode.

  15. "Robert, before you say anything, let me tell you about my tough childhood".  Even if I liked their product, which I didn't, I would hate it after that story.  I can't believe they get away with that crap.  Tell me about your product and nothing else.  Frustrating, for me at least.

Totally agree about not needing to add more plastic to our land fills. Who are these people that are paying $18 for a piece of plastic?  They obviously have too much money.

  16. Yes, that plot should have had better examples in it. (Am I the only bothered by Claire throwing out perfectly good food when she decided to make the sandwiches herself?)

NO!! You're not the only one.  When she pushed all that food in the trash, I was speechless.  What a stupid thing to do, on so many levels.  Must be nice to have that much money that you can toss out perfectly good food.  Does not make any of them look good.

  17. The most telling example of how, I don’t know, mean he is, was when a bunch of kids from a poor neighborhood, came asking for 10K to expand their salad dressing business Hope Blooms. Kevin did nothing, but the other 4 dragons each GAVE the kids 10K who have since really improved the sales. Kevin really is all about the money.

Every time I see that episode in reruns, I tear up.  It is such a great story.  And why I loved David.  He was the first one to jump in and offer the money for no equity.  He's a good guy.  Kevin, not so much.

  18. I'm not sure this is much better KimberStormer, but I was thinking in terms of roommates.  You can be a fantastic everyday roommate or a roommate who throws fantastic parties.  As much fun as the parties may be, they are few and far between and the great everyday roommate usually comes out on top in Survivor.  Not that a person can't be both, but even if the great everyday roommate throws good parties, lots of times he doesn't even have to because people want to visit and hang out even without the party.  So, there's my tortured attempt.
