  1. I took it to mean she takes off the heavy TV makeup right after the show.  Not that she goes make up free outside the show.  Even Allysa refenced that the make up they wear on the show was not was typical women are wearing everyday.

It's very possible that she wears normal lady levels of make up outside of the show and that both statements could be true.

I doubt anyone could have gotten a word in, even if they wanted to. Whoopi doesn't subscribe to the concept of back-and-forth conversation when she has a point she wants to make. She just keeps talking over the other person until they stop trying. It is the rudest way to have an "interview".

While there's been plenty of those types of interviews, in this case I think they gave Mace plenty of opportunity to talk and answer questions.   I also appreciated Whoopi pushing back when she said dems want to abort up to the 9 month.   And her asking follow up questions when she tried to side swipe Whoopi's push back.

  3. I think Sunny calling Nikki Haley unqualified really triggered Alyssa.    Alyssa spent the first 2 segments trying to over talk everyone in defense of Nikki Haley.    Which makes me think Sunny might have been intentionally triggering her 🙂

  4. I was surprised how little Cam was involved in the campaign to vote out Izzie in this episode.  She was his target and he boasted l how he was going to send her home in the pig suit.   But this episode it’s Cory leading the charge to evict Izzie and we don’t even get to see Cam’s goodbye message….hmmmmm

That was either a stunt or a very rude exclamation by whoopi. I would not be surprised if it's the former and done to get attention for the show.

I was thinking of it being the latter.  Whoopi not really one for stunts.  But she is one to blurt out inappropriate stuff 🙂

Everyone appeared to be genuinely stunned by the question.

With Matthew McConaughey, was Yellowstone TV show mentioned at all?

No mention.   Likely due to the writer/actors strike.  Similar to Cedric the Entertainer yesterday.  They did not mention his sitcom, The Neighborhood.   Until the strike is over, pretty much any actor we see on the View will be promoting non-acting projects.

I'd like to know WHY Brandon didn't show.

Nowadays when people are missing from a show with no explanation, I assume they tested positive for covid.

I liked Brittany’s collection but it didn’t look much different from what she’s done all season.  Bishme and Laurence at least tried to stretch or elevate out side their typical looks.

Alyssa’s implicit support for Moms for Liberty is  a problem. Especially since she doesn’t have kids.

I didn't care how she tried to go after Sunny saying, "wouldn't you want all kids to have the same opportunity for private school education that your kids had?"   That position is basically abandoning the kids who go to public schools.   The response to that questions, is that I would want children who go to public schools to get just as quality of education as those who go to private.

  9. Alyssa had a good point on the LIzzo discussion.  I too read the allegations.  At a minimum she needs to take responsibility as her role as a boss/employer.   Sounds like she treated her dancers like they were part of her friend group.   So while it's cool to take your friends to a strip club and encourage ratchet behavior.   You just can't do that with your employees.

Why is deGrasse Tyson a guest on a show about female perspective and empowerment? Has he been completely exonerated of sexual misconduct allegations?

As others have said, because they need guests 😉.  He's the resident TV scientist and was kinda relevant in the discussion on UFOs.

He was also cleared of changes against him.

The only character I would have cut is the roommate who was pointlessly annoying (although the adorable white kitten could have been in every scene and I'd have been happy).

I grew to love the wacky roommate.   I started to look forward to see what black hairstyle she would rock next.   The hairstylist earned their paycheck 😀

I made it through an episode and a half. It's almost good, but just fell short on almost every measure for me. So many missed opportunities.

Maybe give it another episode or 2.   It started out slow for me too, but by the end I was all in.

In response to De Santis talking about the Florida Department of Education standards, Whoopi said that "99%" of slaves didn't "benefit" from slavery. True, but neither De Santis, nor the standards said that 99% (or even a majority) of former slaves benefitted "from" slavery. It says that in some cases, some former slaves were able to use the skills they used while enslaved to aid themselves in their new situations.

If the current argument was about changing the verbiage to make it very clear that this was not the experience of most slaves or even most former slaves, that would make a lot of sense and could be fixed before the school year starts, but many people, including Whoopi, are expanding the issue to suggest that schools are being told to teach that slavery was not a terrible thing, or that it was something that slaves should be grateful for. The rest of the curriculum shows that this is not the case. This is how legitimate criticism gets distorted and misleading information is spread to the detriment of everyone hearing or reading it.

You can read the standards for yourself by going to the Fla. Dept. of Ed. website and searching for "standards of education 2023" for Social Studies.

The problem is the implication that any slave benefited from slavery.  The question to ask is why was this included in the curriculum?   What's to gain from expressly stating that slaves developed skills that could in some cases be used for their personal benefit?   It feels to some that it's to minimize the horror of slavery.

And I've read the curriculum standards and that didn't change my mind on this issue.   The wording needs to be changed.  Sarah was on point on this issue.  Africans that came here already had blacksmithing, farming, etc. skills.    They were not taught everything they know through slavery.

Since living in the US I've been told not to say black but to always say African-American even though coming from the UK I've known mostly people with Caribbean heritage and saying the "b" word is common, most have no ancestry from slavery but rather British colonies that are part of the commonwealth who came here of their choice for lots of reasons.

Is it just assumed that if someone is black & lives in the US that they are African-American or is it just better to not use either term ?

Black Caribbeans are also descendants of slavery.   Slavery occurred throughout the Americas and the Caribbean.  All are part of the trans Atlantic slave trade.

African-American is not an offensive term.   It’s fine to use.

I’m a bit confused. Whoopi openly bristled about being referred to as an African American-“I’m NOT from Africa!” in the first segment but seemed to have no trouble referring to the cast of Joy Ride as Asian even though only one of them (Sherry Cola) is actually from Asia?

No need to be confused.  Whoopi prefers Black over African- American.  That is her right to chose how she would like to be referred.   It's not an uncommon position among Black or African-Americans.   I believe all of the ladies in the movie refer to themselves as Asian or Asian American.  So it was appropriate for Whoopi to do so also.   But if the ladies preferred to be referenced by their family's country of origin (Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean American etc) that should be respected as well.

  15. I think they are having a hard time finding guests willing to cross the writer's picket lines.  So they are likely purposely not announcing guests beforehand so that they don't pressured not to attend.

Can't recall, but she ALWAYS had one...and one that required pontificating to the next commercial break

And she said it with such innocence and ignorance, it was NOT a "line."   I know the name, but had to look him up to place the face (couldn't).

I think Sunny DOES take things personally, but because it has been her lifelong problem, she knows (mostly) how to contain her immediate reactions.  She takes things personally (sips her "tea") and probably creates a permanent record.  If she doesn't do anything out of revenge, she will use these moments in her next novels.

Visually disagreeing with someone (the tea sipping, eyebrow raising, etc) is not a personal attack nor is it a response to a perceived personal attack in my view.   It's just a reaction.   Allyssa evoking Barbara Walters to me was more of a personal attack than whatever Sunny said towards her.  The closest I've seen Sunny get to the personal attack line was actually her comments towards Ana, when she basically said.  How can you still be a republican after XYZ things?   Ana was annoyed, but they are still friends.

I loved Sunny’s lecture about not taking your coworkers opinions personally ,it’s  just their opinion. Her recommendation is to make stinky faces , suck in your mouth, sip your bone broth or turn your body away  after they give their their opinions.

Allyssa looked very uncomfortable while Sunny was talking about not taking things personal.   For the most part, I agree that Sunny generally doesn't take things personal.   She might make faces, and do looks, but she's reacting to what's being said.  Specifically towards Allyssa, you don't see Sunny reacting to her negatively on any of the fluffy topics.   But she does try to hold to task on the topics she's feels strongly about.

But there are always people who think that a person challenging or disagreeing with them is a personal attack.

I didn't like Kandy's runway -- that bottom triangle was squashed and looked like she sat on it.

I thought her outfit looked like a non conventional materials challenge that she made in the workroom.   Same old leotard look she wears every week.   I need Michelle visage to call her out on it soon.

Alyssa has been one of the nicest hosts the show has had in a long time. It's bizarre they had more patience with Meghan than with her.

Alyssa is fine...She's smart, but also very image conscious.   I mean... PUPPIES!... who can hate someone with puppies?.   My cynical self thinks she might be far more calculating than her nice girl image portrays.   And that may be what people are picking up on with any perceived distance with the other cohosts.

  21. I enjoyed the episode more than I thought.   The behind the scenes stories were interesting.  The host was good as well.  She can definitely replace Kevin Frazier for me.   I only wished they would have just let Lindsey leave for good when she stomped off.   She’s not right mentally and listening to her trash MTS while he wasn’t there to defend himself was not entertaining.

I was curious as to what Steve said about her that had her so mad.  I don’t remember him talking much about her on the show.   But I thought I heard her say Steve was the reason why people came for her on social media.

Speaking of Today, why is it they have writers (seemingly) when The View does not?  I kind of chuckled when Whoopi didn’t even try to compose an intro for Gabrielle Union, just “here she is!”  Now we know why they need writers.

I think the Today show is under the news division of NBC.  Which isn't affected by the strike.   And the View is in the entertainment division similar to Jimmie Kimmel.

The mother of AJ Owens broke my heart.

  23. Wasn't a fan of the Sunny/Alyssa fight. They both owe each other an apology.

Sunny started with a good point.  Alyssa worked very closely with Pence.  So for her to deflect from Joy's question and say she needs to hear more from him, was worthy of some push back.

I was fine with Sunny continuing to speak while Alyssa threw a tantrum, but what she was saying wasn't necessarily that relevant or a strong argument, so it came across petty.   Hated Alyssa playing the victim.  She's making it personal!  and invoking Barbara Walters.   Her tantrum was unprofessional and shades of MM.    What Sunny said about her, she's said probably a dozen times before on the show.   Made me wonder if they got into it during the pre-show meeting which is why Sunny came out with the random Pence notes on her card.

But I mostly fear that the powers that be liked the headlines it brought and will encourage the "feud" to continue.

  24. Agreed.  They let him ramble on quite a bit uninterrupted.  Although they did interrupt him to to try to get the substance of his answers and challenge some of his talking points.   Otherwise they might as well just let him give a speech.   That talking nonstop without a breath on multiple topics is a well known tactic to not be challenged.   And I definitely didn't think they were intimidating him by Whoopi standing to Sunny.    I thought it was good for him to engage them specifically.

Some might not like Sunny's approach, but I also don't want to hear Alissa talk about Biden's age/mental sharpness given her previous employer.    Unless maybe if she acknowledges that previous employment as a factor in her opinion.
