Sally Field struck me as mentally unbalanced. A great actress, yes, but I wouldn't wanna be stuck in an elevator with her.

Whoopi is acting like a rebellious toddler, fighting with the producers and reading the teleprompter perfunctorily like she's doing it against her will (well, probably she is). Willie tells the audience that they are getting his album, and then Whoopi immediately makes a grand announcement as if it's this huge surprise.

Dr. Doris Day (i much prefer the REAL Doris) is a total shill for her own practice. Is ABC paying her, or is she paying them?

I really don't mind Abby, nor do I think she is stupid or ill-informed.

Joy is sadly beginning to show signs of slowing down to the point of becoming the doddering old aunt at the holiday table.

one of my bugaboos from last season has continued into the new one: Whoopi, whenever pronouncing a latin (or other ) name, has to over-pronounce the "r"s and do ridiculous tongue rolls. She did it several times with Sotamajor (sp)  and even Sunny didn't roll the "r" that much!

I finally got to see Friday's show. I normally mostly listen, since i am multitasking (YES, computer solitaire IS multitasking!) but today i saved the multitasking for commercial breaks only and BOY OH BOY, what a show! Michael and Ana were fantastic. But the biggest thrill of all was watching the lovely and untalented Miss M.  The visuals of her mean girl face (i think she must keep lemon juice or vinegar in her cup to keep up that sour look so consistently) were priceless! What a way to end the season.

On another note, I have felt for a while that Joy may be fading a bit. She's lately often slow on the uptake (so unlike her), but maybe it's just MM fatigue (i HOPE).

I tend to watch the View next day (no live cable) and save the Friday show for Monday (I watch the Talk on weekends), but i just may  have to break my rule this time!

But in addition to MM's many many misuses of words and phrases , one of her faves "siren song" particularly pisses me off.

Re: Wednesday's show. Not a fan of DLH... i sorta think he is racist (although give him a pass based on his experience as an 8 year old)... But why was he wearing a hat that looked shit-stained, and a uniform that made him look like a bad Sheriff David Clark impersonator? Also, when you are promoting "your" book and it was co-written, why not mention the other writer?

Jaron Lanier struck me as a wild-eyed conspiracy theorist and a total nutcase.  I also thought that most of the panel were responding to him strangely, even though the all-gracious whoopi told him he "had to come back".

My theory is that Whoopi tries to cover her lack of any preparation ever by "time-eating" .... the increasingly long welcome yell... the pregnant pauses while she closes her eyes to search for a "word" that never actually seems to be the right one,  the "um's" the "well...."   the mugging at the camera as if that says it all....

ok, it's late and i'm particularly cranky but whoopi is on my last nerve. Beyond the increasingly lengthy bellowed 'welcome', the squinting at the teleprompter and mis-reading, the lack of preparation ( she didn't watch ANY of the royal wedding???? ), the tiresome "accents", the "we'come back" (usually with her mouth full), the wild hand gesticulating when she is struggling for a word (and when the word is finally spit out, it makes no sense) , her ass kissing of "baby" mccain, her yelling at the producers,  her shitty segways....oh, you get my point!! Take a little time to enjoy whatever sinkhole you may stumble into.
