Can someone explain to me how one "smokes a fentanyl patch"?  My knowledge of medicine patches is nil, but if it is a patch, what do you do with it?  Cut it up into pieces, and put it in a pipe and smoke the plastic tape and glue too?  What?  I am not up on my drug manipulation!

It's kind of a combination of using heroin and using crystal meth.  You heat it over a flame on a piece of tinfoil and then inhale the smoke.

  2. Psst, Natalie.  Fucking a medical student is a teensy bit unethical when you're a fellow.

I'm really, really glad they didn't contrive Sarah back into the ED.  She and Dr. Charles are so great together, and it's nice that they'd show someone as ridiculously capable as her doing something that a lot of other specialities look down on.  Our girl has come a long way.

Well, I'm certainly glad they took popular opinion into account and decided to tone down Halstead's bad qualities.  Oh wait, he's still a dickbag.

It might be nice if perhaps we get introduced to some of the new interns, but I guess it's more important to focus on a med student who inexplicably is going to spend an entire year in the ED.  Especially since April's idiot brother is apparently still there despite it being a new academic year.

  3. If you need to get the taste of The Killing Joke out of your mouth, Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar have just the thing for you.  There's going to be a one-night-only theatrical screening, a release to digital video the next day, and physical media about a month later.

Since we're also in the 50th Anniversary of the series, and given the success of the Batman '66 comic, this was only logical.  No, wait, that's the other show having a 50th anniversary.

So more than Hulu, more than Amazon Prime, more than Netflix. And their catalog is smaller than all of those other options.

The ad-free version is cheaper than Hulu's ad-free subscription.

I'm not so concerned about the service flopping, because they've made enough money on the foreign rights on Netflix that it'll just move over there eventually.  I'm honestly more concerned about the service being successful, because that might cause the other networks to shift from content aggregators like Hulu to their own stand-alone services.

  5. I'm torn by that idea.  I really like it when two actors over 50 get to have a romance, but I also like it when male and female characters can just be friends.

OTOH, while I'm still iffy on Halstead, I did REALLY like the pathologist, so I'm in favor of more her.

  6. It was first announced as The Woods and its actual title, and thus connection to the original Blair Witch Project were only revealed back at SDCC.  It's a more proper sequel than Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2.

Found Footage is such a hard genre to do well.  About the only ones that I think really nailed it were the original film and the first (and I would also say third) Paranormal Activity.  So, I'm excited, but cautious.

My biggest question is, how does filming start late September and we still don't know even one cast member? It would seem by now we should know *at least* two thirds of the cast. And in order to reach a January premiere date, they need to start filming soon so it can't be pushed back too much.

The actual 50th is Wednesday.  I'm betting we'll get everything then.

    I'd change "residency" to fill-in-the-blank.

True, but given that Shannon was lamenting that she couldn't quit because she needed the job, when she in fact can't quit because she's contractually obligated unless the hospital agrees to release her.

It doesn't seem like any medical drama aside from ER has ever understood how it works (Chicago Med didn't even seem to have an attendings), but this seemed really stupid, especially since that's somehow the only thing keeping Shannon from the reservation?

I don't know, after three years, you think I'd know better than to try and make sense of all the madness.

Also, you don't treat typhus with Cipro.

  9. I'm surprised at the ratings.  I honestly figured this was all we were going to get.  I don't have cable and tend to watch shows through Hulu, which hasn't been featuring the show this season, so since I don't see advertising, I was surprised after it had disappeared during the Olympics that people would remember to wander back.  I'd forgotten it was back last week, so I had to binge this morning on the NBC website.

So, if they do come back again, can they please find the money to keep paying Jennifer Beals?

The only thing with Jyn is if she's Rey's mother, but they can leave that off the blurbs on packages.

I really hope this isn't the case.  While I really enjoyed parts of what's been rebranded as Star Wars Legends (especially the Thrawn stuff), one of the big problems with it was how ridiculously fan-service-y it was, and how small that ended up making the GFFA seem.  Making her Rey's mother is a straight-up Kevin J Anderson move, and that's not something they need to emulate.  Also, if this is supposed a story from somewhere else in the universe, make it completely its own thing.

As far as the action figures, at least they learned after two other tries.

  11. Well, Joy's intellectual capacity was spent on coming up with all her best stand up material that would have been fresh 40 years ago.  I honestly do like her, but while she may have been edgy 30 years ago, compared to Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman, she should be in residence in Branson.

I really liked Yvette Nicole Brown.  Honestly, just put her, Rosie, and Kathy Najimy into regular rotation.

The same Memory Alpha entry confirms that the Peace Mission followed the Battle.

My point remains that Kirk was involved in whatever the incident was (and clearly it wasn't just one isolated event).

Moving on, here's a boilerplate article...except for this paragraph:

Sources tell THR the rest of the cast also will feature an openly gay actor as one of the male leads (which Fuller confirmed), a female admiral, a male Klingon captain, a male admiral, a male adviser and a British male doctor.

I'm assuming the admiral characters are going to be recurring, not leads.  I'm very curious who the actor is.
