  1. Eh, I don't think that's quite true. Image matters so much to them--at if the DAR is trowing the "it" event of the year, the Huntzberger's would certianly want to be there.
  2. In reality, the Hartford DAR isn't a big thing but it certianly is in the reality of the show.
  3. It surprises me that people have strong feelings one way or the other on the WitS scene! I kinda saw it has the kind of stupid debate we would have in my common room my freshman year of college, nothing earth-shattering. I also think Logan was supposed to have a 1930's screwball comedy vibe, which I think Matt Czurchy really nails a lot of the time, but totally misses here.

    Season 5

I semi-agree with some of this, disagree strongly with some. The "raiding the Gilmore’s home and indiscriminately hauling away boxes of items" is a huge exaggeration, I think. Rory asked them to come over and they cleaned out the closet they thought she pointed to without question. Lacking in logic? Certainly. But it wasn't larceny. Coming to help a friend move out is not an example of them feeling above authority. There's no defense for stealing the sewing box other than it's supposed to be a stupid harmless prank (that in this case quickly became not harmless). It's just dumb. I will say that I personally don't get why the fandom tends to jump on that more than any of Jess's thefts, but that's for another thread. The stealing the yacht, while Logan certianly went along with it, was Rory's idea. Bad influences or not, Rory was her own person who made her own choices on that one. I think the biggest failure of season 5 is one of the overall writing of the show. By the time we got to season 5, the show was pretty committed to the basic money = bad, poor = good idea (in a general sense) and the audience was made not to like Richard and Emily's "world". Then in season 5 they decided they wanted Rory to explore the more fun side of money (as per the You Jump, I Jump Jack commentary) and see that it can be almost like a superpower, that it can be fun, etc. I think they were trying to write a "Rory realizes there's more to these people"-type storyline but they never really developed the characters outside of Logan. We barely know anything about those characters--which is why it's hard for me to have an opinion on them other than appreciating Finn's one liners and thinking they're pretty harmless.
  5. Pretty sure that is all based on IMDb which people just put in placeholder episodes for anyone who was announced as returning. We know there are 2 town meetings and they're in different episodes so I would bet we're seeing them all at a minimum in 2 episodes.
  6. Nope, we don't have any confirmation on their episode count. We know Taylor is in 3 but other than that we don't know how many episodes the townies are in.

    Season 5

I think liking the LADB is an unpopular opinion, but I'm right there with you! I think they're pretty harmless and funny. I really do love Finn. Plus, I know a few people who were in societies similar to this and a friend of mine had a sister in Skull & Bones and honestly even in real life it's just basically a frat. I like season 5 (though I like, Logan, so I guess that's not too much of a surprise). I like that she liked a guy who didn't meet her and immediately want to be in a relationship with her. I liked that she tried casual dating and it went poorly--as is the case for many people in college, I found. But what I really liked was that after 1 night on the bathroom floor she immediately went to Logan and said she wasn't doing that anymore. I wish she had had the same "this isn't working out" attitude in season 6 (maybe after her birthday party? I just wish it was something she had realized on her own). For me the weakest episodes of the season are Tippecanoe and Taylor Too and We Got Us A Pippi Virgin. Too much Dean kills an episode for me at this point in the series.
  8. No joke--Bootsy and the Troubadour are both back.
  9. For real. A Logan-type irl would have way better clothes. For me the biggest is his suit at Rory's 21st birthday party--the sleeves are too long! It's not tailored! I second this wish list item. Get him in some fabulous suits. Honestly, get any of the male characters into a dope wardrobe with great suits and ties.
  10. Vanessa Marano was talking with Variety on the red carpet and she said much of April's life is discussed with family members at the dinner table...which brings me to a big hope of mine: that April is a lesbian. I really think that would be 1) a good way to bring some LGBT representation to the show and 2) fitting with April's character.
  11. I updated my spoiler masterpost with all the new info from the EW article, including links to scans.
  12. Richard mentions to Lorelai that Rory is set to receive her trust fund at 25 in 6.07, so it's totally possible that Rory has/is using that money.
  13. I'm mean, honestly the whole "Grandpa's money took us out of the running for financial aid" thing is silly because FAFSA and financial aid is based on the previous year's tax fillings. It wouldn't have been an issue until Rory's sophomore year. But this is Gilmore Girls, where finances are made up and logic doesn't matter.
  14. Eh, I don't know. You're not supposed to make any big decision or life change for (at least) a year after a loss like that (fittingly, until you've experienced all the seasons of your emotions). Plus, Emily didn't handle dating well when Richard was alive--I think it would be pretty out of character for her to jump into dating.
  15. I meant too soon for Emily. Slight spoiler but .
  16. I was thinking about what I want in terms of "the boyfriends"...and I think I'll be (mostly) happy as long as their development isn't ignored. I basically don't care what they do with Dean, but I hope Jess is still writing and I hope Logan didn't become some miniature version of his father. I also have no desire whatsoever to see a romantic plot for Emily. I don't want that at all. It'll still be too soon imo and, for me as a viewer, so sad and painful to watch knowing that it's the product of a very real loss.
  17. I'm on season 4 in my continuous rewatch of this show, and I thought of another UO (or at least it was unpopular during the TWoP days): I much prefer Tick, Tick, Tick...Boom! and Afterboom to the "Holy Trinity" at the end of the season. I love the whole business implosion storyline! I like Lorelai's fight with Richard over how he's treating Jason, but her ultimate choice of siding with her family. I think the dinner scenes in TTTBoom crescendo so well to the reveal of Floyd's lawsuit and I enjoy them so much every time. The scene where Jason chases after Floyd and it's just Lorelai, Richard and Emily standing in complete silence is simply perfect to me.
  18. Yes. As noted above, she says her major is English in 7.05.
  19. Going there is fine (plenty of excellent journalists are Yale alums, including Bob Woodward)--but Rory didn't consider or apply to one school with a journalism program. Or communications. She's always had lofty goals with exactly zero consideration about what it would take to reach them. Going to Yale would actually be a better fit for her now strangely--they've since started the "Yale Journalism Initiative" to give selected students career counseling, network opportunities, and internships. It'd be the perfect fit for Rory. I can't answer for dustylil, but I would say that someone who wants to be a foreign correspondent would do well to add Global Affairs, History, Political Science or one of the geographic studies majors to their degree.
  20. In season 7 Bobbi asks what her major is and she says English. I don't know if she ever changed it, but it was definitely English her senior year.
  21. I remember thinking "Well, Rory chose to go to a college without a journalism major...". Yale was always a strange choice, but it obviously had to be Yale because of where the show was set and the structure of the relationship. Honestly, if Rory was thinking it through she would have been looking at Syracuse, Columbia, Boston University, Northwestern, UT Austin, Emerson and USC. Those journalism/communications programs are bar none. She would have majored/minored in communications, political science, or international history...but this isn't a show known for realism.
  22. Most of the other seats look empty, and they were obviously taking pictures, so they're not filming. Chances are it's a crew member or something.
  23. If anyone want to see the removed photo, here is a screenshot (I don't think that's Logan in the background, just based on wardrobe. But who knows). There have been a few minor/one episode roles cast lately, including Eric Henry as 'Nat Compton’ in “Summer”, Sam Pancake as 'Donald’ in “Summer”, and Sasha Pasternak as 'Molly’ in “Fall”. Gregg Henry has also been confirmed via The Hollywood Reporter. As always, I've updated my masterpost with sources here.
  24. I definitely think Lorelai would have accepted Rory if Rory were gay. I think Lorelai would likely be one of those allies that doesn't really know what they're doing and makes a ton of mistakes. Ya know...like most allies.
  25. I know! That makes me so happy! Them bringing him back to be all "poor sad Dean never went anywhere or did anything" would have been so awful. I was glad to hear this.
