I think I'm going to be grossed out. What a sad spectacle . . .
I wonder how much ABC is paying the "happy couple."

Go home to your wife, Jesse. What the hell?

What's so "sad" about this wedding? And as for its being a "spectacle," as one who got married in a courthouse, I think many "normal" weddings might qualify.

It is no secret that Reality TV pays all its participants. It's become a career path.

I have a feeling Jesse and his wife probably have agreed on his whereabouts.

"Bread and circuses"? Um, TV isn't  a new invention.

I DO have one criticism: NO WAY should Treesa be decked out like a never-been-married bride!

I don't think they're going to have a real wedding. Nothing legal and binding, anyway. Why bother when they can celebrate or affirm a loving and committed relationship without doing so?

Sure, if they purchase a house together, that'd require a codicil in their respective wills, I guess, and maybe there would be some other will changes and such.

But it would truly surprise me if they really did the deed. Not that they couldn't; I'd just be surprised, that's all.

I think what we see will be a real marriage ceremony. They each could have continued dating on their own without this show.

This isn't "MAFS: Australia," and Gerry and Theresa aren't whatever generation is in their 20s now. Catholic Treesa isn't  going to merely, as we used to say, shack up with Gerry, nope, not having included her entire family in this televised venture.

They will marry. They will honeymoon in fabulous Italy. They will move to and establish a home in SC. They (and families) will be filmed. They have tasted ABC's bread, and will want to keep it buttered.

In short, Gerry and Theresa Turner will (aim to) become our Golden Ryan and Trista Sutter.

I wouldn't trust his family either because they have been covering his lies. His claim that he hadn't dated in 45 years. Also he hasn't been a restaurateur (he was a fry cook mostly of a greasy spoon) for about 40 years, he was last working as a janitor. I am glad we can at least discuss it here (although some of his fans may not like it).

Would you call a McDonald's franchise owner  "a fry cook mostly of a greasy spoon" (a term usually referring to a diner, anyway)?

And if Gerry were a fry cook, or later a janitor, is there some unworthiness attached to these jobs? I get the "lies" accusations, but there seems also to be an implied denigration here.

In any case, here is what seems to be the reality of Gerry’s varied career history.

Irony Alert: Mr. Fell in Love So Soon's restaurant was Mr. Quick.

I think the reason is that the purpose is to segregate each half of the couple with the others' friends so they can talk about their relationships.  The point of this show seems to be to talk and talk and try to "fall in love" without ever ever having any kind of natural fun or good times together.  Sex optional.

It seems to me that Becca and Cameron have very specific (no) religious desires - do they not discuss this at all during the screening?

One wonders if anything is discussed! Or at least considered seriously by the Triumvirate!

Dog-dislikers paired with dog-owners. Physical preferences ignored totally. Brides expected to live in buses and basements. Financial security needs married to jobless. Etc.

I hope he goes to Santa Margherita & Portofino, just south of Genoa.  Those folks know their pesto.  We had the absolutely best pasta with pesto/potatoes/green beans in SM. Plus, the scenery is divine. SM, where we stayed, looked as though I'd stepped onto a movie set with gorgeous, old buildings beautifully cared for, alongside the misty, blue Mediterranean Sea. 🧡🤍💚

In a real sense, you had so stepped!

  6. I have watched every episode, read every post in these threads.

Yet for the life of me, I still cannot bring readily to my mind's eye either Emily and Brennan, or *re-reads above posts to get the right paired names* Becca and Austin, such is how much the wives and husbands, respectively, look alike to me. 🤪

  7. Elizzikra,

Clare shaded Cameron about his work, asking if he wasn't "bored." He clearly wasn't; she was just being a jerk implying she was bored by his job, even as he tried to involve her. (Meanwhile, she had scorned Cameron for not being in therapy, her job.)

And I am similar in preparing for a gathering, the way you describe. What Clare did, IIRC, was to dry out the food because she cooked it too early.

    These two are completely  incompatible.

Right but he got home 2 hours before the party and could have gone back out. I thought he was actually kind of a dick about it.

Also - they've been together two weeks and he hasn't mentioned that his father is near death and doesn't know he was married? Seems strange that this didn't come up before now.

What has she done that is so idiotic?

They are awful and no amount of "she's our bestie and we lurrrvvveeee her" protectiveness excuses how rude they were. I suppose for filming, Brennan had to sit there with them, but I would have quickly excused myself from that interrogation.

For one thing, messing up the food because she had to be "prepared."

But mostly for being very condescending to Cameron and all that he's about.

  9. If, as many suggest, Gerry is indeed primarily out for "companionship" and "being taken care of," why speculate on an imaginary illness for Theresa and then wonder if he'd leave her? We can just as readily wonder if she would leave him were that scenario reversed. But why go down that rabbit hole?

As for Gerry's saying he wasn't a handyman "for the money": Doesn't the vernacular mean "I'm not doing it to get rich," rather than the literal "I'm working for free"? Like, "I wasn't a teacher for the money" kind of statement. 🤷‍♀️

  10. Re gray hair: I loved my Salt and Pepper and got compliments. But now I have less of it, alas and alack. So these days I neither cut nor color, but camouflage with a faux fall from Toni Bratton!

I'll be watching the 2024 merger...I mean, marriage of G&T, those crazy kidz, as they begin the New Year with a ban...k account discussion! 😉

Eddie was one of Todd's closest friends. They say that they turned to each other in their grief and Taylor being Taylor had to marry him. Then she met Burton and that was it.

Yes. But my larger implication was that Gerry might have felt the same as Elizabeth did, to counter the "too soon after Toni's death" criticisms.

Of course, it's equally possible that both parties did seek new companionship too soon! [Disclaimer: I have always lived by a "WWETD?" philosophy, heh. 😉]

  12. Back in the day, when Elizabeth Taylor had tallied only 3 marriages.....

After #3 Mike Todd perished in his "Lucky Liz" plane crash, some people were aghast that not only did Elizabeth take up with the married Eddie Fisher, but did so "so soon" post-widowhood.

Her riposte? "What do you expect me to do? Sleep alone?"
