  1. Also, both Elizabeth and Phillip didn’t have anything close to “normal” childhoods themselves. They were forced to endure extreme deprivation and poverty while growing up in Russia after WWII and had to take on adult responsibilities early in life. Remember when Elizabeth was talking to her mentor and mocking Americans because they simply watched their children play instead of giving them chores? No matter how American Elizabeth and Phillip pretend to be, the traumas of their childhoods would undoubtedly influence how they raise their own children. n
  2. Oh Billy, Billy, Billy....I knew he would be captured by the crew of the Scarborough and tortured :( I don't understand why Eleanor didn't just have Lowe killed after he dissed her in her tavern. She knew he was bad news after seeing the bloody barrels. I'm also surprised she only relied on one man for security. Max better be careful- her attempt to manipulate Anne could backfire she could end up losing all she's gained. Flint was looking really hot in this episode. As for Dufresne, he's showm himself to be an idiot, and he's toast. The best course of action would be to go hang himself or jump off the ship now that he's given the captaincy back to Flint. If the crew doesn't kill him first, does he really believe that Flint will let him live, after seeing what Flint did to Billy and Gates?
  3. I was wondering, too. There's a sad reason for that- Jannes Eiselen, the original Dufrense, suffered a recurrence of brain cancer in late 2013, right before season 2 began filming and had to leave. He said of his misfortune, "Well two things happened: I got my big break and then I broke." http://www.janneseiselen.com
  4. Great start to season 2. Next to the interactions between Flint and Silver, I really enjoyed the flashbacks showing Flint before he became a Pirate, and meeting Mrs. Hamilton (Barlow) for the first time. I'm looking forward to seeing Flint's metamorphosis from Captain in the Royal Navy to Outlaw, and seeing how and why he and Mrs. Hamilton decided to hook up. I wonder if the writers are going to show just how truly awful Ned Lowe was. When Eleanor went to the fort and heard the noises on the other side of the door for a split second I was horrified, because I thought it was Lowe's female captive being raped. I was really hoping Anne Bonny was going to give Max a beatdown. Max deserved it. Her intelligence doesn't equal her ambition and ego. As for Dufresne, he's been annoying ever since he went all vampire on that guy on the Andromache in season 1. He's not as smart as he thinks he is, and he's no match for Flint and Silver. BTW, I noticed the guy who plays Dufresne this season is not the same guy who played him in season 1. Just sayin. If Billy Bones is coming back this season or at all, the showrunners are doing a damn good job of keeping it under wraps. No mentions on IMdB, or any reports of Tom Hopper sightings in Cape Town. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait until season 3.
  5. According to the TV interview, Billy Bones is going to experience some horrible things. My guess is that the writers will have him captured by the crew of the Scarborough and imprisoned or forced into indentured servitude. If he somehow manages to escape or is released from jail he's going to have a mighty huge grudge against Flint. I think it would be interesting to have Billy as Flint's nemesis.
