Loved it. LOVED. IT. Close to perfection. Regarding the trans issue I did an involuntary groan when Rhys exclaimed "That's nuts!", but thinking about it and the whole context, I don't think it was that bad. "Are you on crack?" "Of course!" had me howling. I did ache for Scully when she disappeared there for a while, but they saved it by her saving herself and catch the killer. I would've loved seeing more of it. I'd have loved to see the part where Rhys went berserk and thrashed the store with Scully standing there, too.
But, yeah, loved the episode. I hope the final serious MOTW will be close to as good.

This. And also, I'm still perplexed by the fact that I couldn't care less that Mulder and Scully are not a *romantic* couple per se any more. Furthermore, I've realised that I don't need them to *get back together* either to be happy with the miniseries. The way their relationship has been portrayed in the first two episodes is all I need to enjoy whatever they throw my way in the remaining run. As somebody else has said: The heart is intact. Nothing else matters to me.
Them not being together in that way doesn't bother me either and was frankly not a big concern for me when I heard about it a while back. The only thing that concerned me was that the love angst would distract from the other aspects of the show, but as far as I'm concerned it hasn't. I have no big complaints. It all mostly makes sense to me. They'll get together again eventually, so this separation doesn't bother me.

People who care so little for THEIR dog dying should be forbidden to own a dog in the first place. Stupid show. Woke up bad memories for no reason.
Um, okay? Sharon's fictional dog had nothing to do with my dog. Separate events. Anyway, sorry it made you hate the show. Let's just leave it at that.

I trust you noticed that I wrote "his or her knees" It's not the gay aspect that bothers me (other than anonymous and indiscriminate sexual hookups being a gay stereotype strongly associated with the spread of AIDS back in the 80s). It's the raunch for raunch's sake, regardless of sexual orientation -- and that a such a scene was aired at 8 pm during the traditional broadcasting "family hour."
Yes I know. I think the gay aspect might be what bothers some people, but that's why I also wrote I wasn't saying that aspect necessarily bothered you guys in particular.
As for anonymous sexual hook-ups, well, that's just part of gay sexual culture. An "easy" joke for a straight man to write, perhaps, but nothing offensive to gay people. Finally The X-Files gives up some gay, I say! But that's just IMO. Plus it wasn't just raunch without purpose. I liked the conversation about Sanjay (was that suicide man's name?) being closeted and their little affair. It's still an important topic to a lot of people, and I liked how they worked some humour into it. Crass and class.
And, despite the hour, it's The X-Files! It's not Parenthood or Modern Family. Oh well, I can agree with you that I think 8PM is a little strange for what kind of series it is, at least.

There's always something not everyone wants to see. If you want to please everyone then you can't show anything. Presuming the child is watching The X-Files with their parent they're old enough to understand it and will not care apart from there being some silent embarrassment coming from both parent and child. If the kid doesn't understand it then the parent doesn't have to explain the nitty gritty of it.
And it was pretty much just innuendo anyway, not some sordid back-alley sex scene, which, presumably, would be okay after 10 pm, and there's quite a difference between a saucy 10 pm sex scene and what this was, IMO. I think that fact that it was gay is most likely to bother people (not saying that aspect necessarily bothered you), to which I say: tough.

I'm not saying you're wrong in your opinions, but I find it amusing how so very different television standards in America and Sweden are. I'd say the exploding eye-balls and suicide by stabbing yourself in the head is worse to watch than a fellatio joke, but that's me.

I thought the same about the scene and thought it was very funny. Speaking as a gay man, I loved it. A bit silly, maybe, but this show was never above a little silliness. Nice to get some humour in a rather dire episode where an episode is usually either or. I must have ignored Scully saying "lifestyle preferences" though, because, ugh.
Loved seeing Rebecca Wisocky as the "crazy" ex-wife. Great job.

I won't be able to watch it until Monday night due to, well, being in Sweden. Episode 2 I can watch as early as Tuesday morning though. Day off!

Maybe she caught something while he was in Haiti working for Habitat for Humanity. The weird thing is that if Emily had to go to a clinic to do whatever needs doing, why did she have injection needles in her purse -- because that implies that she was injecting herself, and no clinic was necessary (since the needles were prescription).
She could just have an appointment for tests to see how the treatment's going.
The Sarah Harvey thing is ridiculous! So what Janel tweeted is what happened to her hands? That's it? Why is this a mystery? Or is there something else the Liars did to her we don't know about? Her evil glares are soapy fun though, I must admit.
So that was Charlotte's grave at the end? Didn't it feel like the funeral happened extremely fast? Lorenzo just now got information on her time of death but they buried her days ago? Seems like they'd keep her body for a while to complete forensics, but I don't know anything about that stuff so I could be wrong. Did they have the funeral without the body?
The liars are idiots, information is being withheld for no reason et cetera, must be Tuesday.

Moira's audition! I could barely look at the screen but I kept laughing out loud at the same time. Amazing. I love this show. I rewatched the first season before season 2 started and it was even better on rewatch.

It doesn't even matter that so many jokes are obvious (though not at all). I keep laughing at them anyway. The wedding run was hilarious.

I've seen the first two now and I love it! I'm a big fan of the old spoof movies and this didn't disappoint. Laughed out loud throughout. Probably the most I've laughed during an episode since Kimmy (Schmidt) Goes To A Party!

I've been doing a random rewatch of season 4/5 (I was home sick with a cold). So what happened to the rest of the redshirts from the plane?
The other (forgot his name) told Sawyer and Juilet that there were about 20 of them on the beach when they starting throwing flaming arrows. We know three were killed while with Daniel, Miles and Charolette. A few lets like 5 or 6 were killed on the beach. Taking away main/ recurring characters (7 people) that leaves three people uncounted for. Assuming that they were with Rose and Bernard what happened to that group during the flashes. And then following up when or why did Rose and Benard decide to set up a camp?
I think assuming whatever one likes in this situation. I assume, if they weren't all killed at the beach, that they weren't with Rose and Bernard at all (those two scampered off alone) and were killed by some Others (or other Others) or the monster or tripping and hitting their heads. Rose and Bernard probably hunkered down somewhere during the flashes and managed to remain incognito. I think they explain in season six when they're accidentally found that they set up camp just trying to get on with their lives, living peacefully hoping that none of the lunatics on the island would run into them.

But what about the unsolved mysteries of... Unsolved Mysteries?
I nominate Trevor. It's not one that really ever gets brought up as a great episode, but it's a very solid episode that doesn't use the "But if I don't kill people, I WILL DIE!!!" thing a bunch of other episodes do.
Just started watching Trevor! Agree it's a solid episode. Not great, but far from boring. Also: "Dear diary: Today my heart leapt when Agent Scully suggested spontaneous human combustion."
The 1 minute intro felt more like a preview (not included in the actual episode kind of preview) than the intro to new episodes. The production stills and new children kinda took me out of it. Still, I'm super excited. Haven't read any spoilers and I'm going into it with a positive outlook.
Die Hand, Die Verletzt will always be my favorite non-mythology episode. Darkness Falls is one of them as well.
I'm having an X-Files evening. Hell Money (definitely NOT a solid episode. I hadn't watched it in maybe 15 years but it was still boring) and Firewalker (which I think is alright, but the Shawnee Smithness of it definitely helps me personally - always loved her) before Trevor.

I quit watching Daredevil around the eight episode. I suppose you can say Foggy and Karen was one of the reasons. Neither grew on me especially. Neither funny nor that interesting. The villain of the piece never grabbed me either, and the Daredevil himself wasn't great enough to get me over "the hump" that was those other characters. I've never really been drawn to live action comics (I didn't grow up reading any of them), so that could be the reason, but the dark quilts of it drew me in, but alas. I did really like and finished Jessica Jones, though.
Here's an UO: I don't care for David Tennant at all.

In advising friends on watching S1 for the first time, I guide them to the following episodes and strenuously argue that they skip the rest because goodness knows some of those S1 clunkers could possibly derail a less determined viewer. Best eps:

I don't hate "Miracle Man" or "Young at Heart" (we learn something about Mulder's past and that he flirts with the technical staff at the FBI) or "Lazarus" (we learn something about Scully's past which includes her having some semblance of a romantic life before teaming up with Mulder). I don't even hate "Fire" because although a boring episode, Scully does punk him so well at the end.
Only "Space", "Ghost in the Machine", "Genderbender" and "Born Again" are truly no-gos for me.
First of all, where is Darkness Falls? Come on, one of the best episode of the season! But yes, we're all different, et cetera.
It depends on what your friends are drawn to with lists like these, really. If it's a mix of conspiracy and UFO's and monster of the week then these are good choices. Myself I'm a MotW man (with a small dose of conspiracy eps). I'll watch Genderbender, Born Again and Fire ten times before I'll watch Conduit or Fallen Angel.

I have been thinking about starting a thread like this! I love British television.
I saw the first part of the new BBC adaptation of And Then There Were None yesterday and really liked it. Great cast. Episode two aired yesterday and the final part today.

Fresh Meat season 4 (Jan. 5) Woo!
The Fall season 3 should start fairly soon I expect, since it was included in a mash-up trailer together with Luther (Dec. 17) and Sherlock (Jan. 1).
Episodes, Scott & Bailey and Happy Valley also can't get here soon enough.

Fight Club has often brought out different feelings for me. Sometimes indifference, sometimes scorn, and sometimes enjoyment! Yes, it's true! I enjoyed the hell out of it during one rewatch for some reason. Then the time after that I remember I just thought it was meh again.
I have a few episodes where that happens. Aubrey, Young at Heart, The Calusari, Schizogeny... Episodes that are often just so so but then sometimes something happen and I'm just loving them.

Thanks, 17wheatthins--I was wondering where it could be seen here.
I will watch it, but it might take a while, so I wonder if someone can scratch the itch of my curiosity in the meantime. Is Jenna a newly-imagined creation who only shares with Pippa the fact that the runs a geriatric wing and has an interest in poop, or at the other extreme is Jenna simply the "American version" of Pippa? Or is it somewhere in between? What are the similarities and differences in 25 words or less? :)
And the same for Den/Dawn.
A lot of the plotlines, especially during season 1 and some of season 2, I believe, are similar so of course the characters are also similar in many ways. In others very different. Jenna and Pippa share the same interest in stool, although in season 3 UK Pippa moves on to geriatric vaginas. Den Flixter has her own Patsy (and his name is Hilary) which is where that storyline comes from. I'd say that both Jenna and Dawn are definitely more manic and hysterical, although Pippa and Den certainly have their moments. The same would go for Patsy/Hilary. Pippa's relationship with the nurses are similar to Jenna's.
Den is as much of a mess as Dawn, but less hysterical so it's not as noticeable, but all the relationship issues are there. I found her a bit out of character in this episode actually. Didn't entirely recognise her, but Pippa was absolutely her good old self, except she has just as many losses and is as absurd (while at the same time feeling like a person drawn from reality) as Jenna, only here Jenna was obviously being the "loser."
The British Getting On is in general a bit more understated but just as funny. I love them both and am glad that the American version is as good as it is because the original is one of my favorite shows. Didi's counterpart Kim is just as great, played by brilliantly by Jo Brand. A pity she didn't join the others.

He can be, but a high schooler struggling with being gay can still have a girlfriend. It's extremely common. Especially since he had said girlfriend while still being in the closet, and now that "the gay" is out and has caused all this insane hurt, he might still want to live in denial and believe he likes girls too. And if he was bisexual, I think the likelihood he'd risk so much to cheat on someone he was already genuinely attracted to (with a another boy at a party no less) would be pretty low.
