1)Beth is not responsible for Daryl's actions. Daryl is grown up, he is the one who opened that door not Beth. The whole idea that "women are distraction" is loaded with so much patriarchal bull crap I'm not even sure where to start. Had  Beth flashed Daryl and he had opened the door then she would be at fault as it stands I don't see it.

THANK YOU!!!! Man I am so glad someone finally articulated that, it was getting rather annoying so many people saying Beth is both an empty, worthless air stealer while also a being capable of completely undoing Daryl.

  2. Season 2's theme song had to have been Pink Floyd's Time:

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

  3. Reading all the comments about watches in the No Sanctuary episode thread left me confused and curious. As LilySilver said, what does it mean? So I thought I'd start a thread to track the time pieces; their history, meaning, where they are turning up,  who's giving them to who, etc. And to record new sightings of new or familiar time pieces. Because it does seem to be a "thing" on the show. Hmmm.

Here's what I have to get started. (I don't know how many times we're allowed to edit a post but I'll try to edit this one with corrected/new info as it is provided.)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Herschel's Pocket Watch

    HerschelsWatch.jpg

    Owners

    1) Herchel's Grandfather

    2) Herschel  [received as gift from Grandfather]

    3) Glen  [received as gift from Herschel]

    4) Alex the Termite [stolen from Glen]

    ?) Current owner/whereabouts unknown

    Plot Points/Prominant Scenes:

    1) Episode ??? - While sitting around a campfire, CDB asks Herschel to tell them about it and he tells them ...? <<<I think you're thinking of when DALE was asked what time it is and everyone starts teasing him about still wearing a watch

    2) Episode ??? - Herschel gives it to Glen as a token of his approval.

    3) Episode "A" - Ric somehow spots it in Alex's pocket at Terminus and all hell breaks loose.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rick's Wrist-Watch:

    RicksWatch.jpg

    Owners

    1) Rick

    2) Sam [received as a gift from Rick]

*Sam was the hippy kid Rick and Carol encountered on a supply run. He later turned up in Terminus and was slaughtered.

    3) Carol [took it off of the souvenir table in terminus]

    Plot Points/Prominant Scenes:

    1) Episode ??? - Rick gives it to hippy-Sam because ....????<<<Rick told hippy Sam and hippy Ana to meet him and Carol in two hours, gives Sam the watch to keep time

    2) Episode ??? - Rick sets it on the nightstand of the house he was resting in when Joe's gang showed up <<< he couldn't have done that since at that point he no longer had the watch, Sam did. He must have put Carol's there

    3) Episode "No Sanctuary" - Carol sees it on the table in Terminus and picks it up.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Carol's Wrist-Watch:

    CarolsWatch.png

    Owners:

    1) Ed

    2) Carol [received as a gift from Ed]

    3) Rick [received as a gift from Carol]

?) Current owner/whereabouts unknown though possibly last seen on the souvenir table in Terminus?

    Plot Points/Prominant Scenes:

    1) Episode ??? - Carol gives it to Rick because?? <<<Rick had given his to Sam and at that point Sam was missing, presumed dead

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Other Random Time Things:

    1) Episode ??? - Farmer Rick wakes Carl up at the prison and there is some focus on what time it is and why it does or doesn't matter? I think. <<<Rick asks Herschel what time it is and Herschel responds its always right now

  4. Also notice Tyrese, Eugene and Abraham on that T-Dog Zombie diet; haven't lost a pound. I don't know why I find that comical

Tyreese looks like he's actually gained some.....a lot actually...

  5. It doesn't really make sense that anyone in the ZA would go cannibal, unless they were completely dissociated and thought themselves a zombie too. There would just be too many other, better options out there! Still stockpiles of canned food, lakes and streams full of fish, deer, squirrels, birds, rabbits, cows that got out of enclosures, horses too, growing your own food, all of that so easy, I just dont see how an entire community could look at the zombies and think, "heck yeah, eating humans is the way to go!"

  6. I think I remember they gave Carl a plate but at the same time Rick sees all the signs of his other people, freeks out, smacks the plate out of Carls hand and grabs Alex.

  7. I was much more bothered by the dude that ended up having his face eaten, why was he wriggling, on his back away from the flaming zed? Why not just stand up and walk away? THAT was just silly.

  8. I am writing this in defense of Beth Greene, silly young woman who just wants to drink and sing and flirt. There is nothing wrong with any of that...well except the getting drunk part, that's pretty dumb in the zombie apocalypse anyway moving on. Look, Beth is only what, 18? Of course an 18 year old girl is going to freek out when her boyfriend and aunt (?) get munched by zombies, her emotions would be all over the place, even more than pretty much anyone else in CDB. I have a niece who is 18 and even without zombies wreaking havoc in the world, she loses her sh!t over the simplest things and then will turn around and be so awesome and level headed, it's crazy!

Beth loves singing and such a sad world as the one she finds herself in needs people who can sing or juggle or paint, creative people are always in short supply but they are truly the glue that keeps this sweet old word rolling so I dont see any reason to mock her for trying her best. I love that she sings and makes music in the face of such brutality and horror, for that alone she is very worth having around.

Beth had a sheltered life growing up with Herschel as a father with his bible belt understanding so now that he's gone (may the goddess whisper his name upon the wind) she's tasting what had been forbidden, alcohol and flirting with the dangerous biker guy. Being sheltered did not serve her well in that sorrowful world and that is part of why she tried to kill herself. I do not believe she did that for attention, I think she really wanted out of that shitty reality. I felt sorry for her then and I feel sorry for her now that she is seperated from her tribe.

Beth is a youngster, not fully formed so potentially she could be Carol v2.0 but with a better singing voice but I see her maturing more along the lines of Gabrielle, able to dish out violence but more inclined to find another way. I think she is a beautiful character with the kinds of reactions any normal 18 year old girl would have. Take it easy on the girl, she's still growing up, learning how to do this and learning how to just BE.

  9. So I watched again last night, and I definitely think Carol attacked the prison the same day Rick and Michonne, etc. were taken. She and Tyrese heard the gun shots, that lured the walkers towards Terminus - that had to have been when the Termites were corralling them towards A car. They walk a little further on down the road and meet Martin setting up fireworks. From his conversations, it seems that when something happens to bring walkers towards Terminus, the Termites go out and set off coordinated noise to distract the walkers and steer them away. Plus, it didn't seem like Carol and Ty stopped to spend the night anywhere.

Oh yes that makes sense! Thanks for putting that together for me, I haven't yet re-watched the episode but what you said really nails it down for me! Cheers!

  10. I don't think it has only been a matter of days since the prison fell, more like several weeks. Look at Rick, he hardly has any bruising to his face any more, same with Tyrese. Also, it took the "claimed" gang quite some time to track down Rick. Carol, Tyrese, Judith, Lizzie and Mika were hanging out at The Grove long enough for Tyrese to completely unwind. All of that points to at least a month since the prison fell, possibly even 6 weeks. We all know how weird time works on this show but really, there has been a nice big gap since the prison.

  11. Well my first thought was Xena, and my second thought was Gabrielle but really I think I'd pick Callisto from that universe (just as lethal but no spurned lover baggage), Giles from Sunnydale (super freekin' smart and can sing beautifully plus I hear he's a bit of a stevedore so Callisto may enjoy his company), Jessie (not arrogant like Walter but still able to whip up some excellent drugs plus he's funnny), Debra Mogan (fuck me in both ears) and either of the Mythbusters guys.

  12. Hey, so nice to see so many of you from TWOP!!!! That episode last night was probably the best one ever (to me)! It was so exciting, my heart was pounding nearly the entire time, Carol being such an utterly BAMF was completely satisfying, the emotional reunions had me crying and there was one scene that really had me chuckling (the guy wriggling away from that  flaming zombie was so silly! Come on dude, stand up and walk away from the zombie!) I think Michonne, Carol, Carl, Daryl and Rick all fully accept this brutal new reality. Tyresse did what had to be done but I do not think he accepts this world so I dont think he is long for this world. I think Maggie fully accepts it, I think Glenn aknowledges it but does not accept it. I think the Termites blew right past acceptance into perversion.

The makeup and special effects on this show and this episode in particular are just incredible. The zombies are really looking even more gnarly (although seriously, clothing would rot away, there should be more naked zeds than clothed zeds and that could be done on tv, all the dangly bits would have just fallen off rendering the z's essentially genderless).

I do have one nit pick though. When our heroes (and the red shirts) are at the trough and Gareth is being all menacing there was a big burst of gun fire. Who did that and why? Other than that, I thought that was a perfect episode from top to bottom.

Will Michonne sneak back to Terminus to rescue her kantana?
