  1. I’m excited about the eclipse. A neighbor brought me a pair of eclipse glasses. Hope they’re approved.

I had a deputy come  to my door tonight saying an incomplete cell phone call came from here.  But, there was no such call. I showed him my phone. I hadn’t even used the phone in the preceding hour.  He had no explanation.  Isn’t that odd?  He didn’t check with the neighbors.  How does that happen?

  2. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was a bit heavy on the Italian….speaking….lol. Sorry.  It was a bit much. And yes, I’ve watched entire movies with English subtitles. Not sure why this seemed so much.

  3. Yeah, the casting here was not good, imo.  I still made it all the way through though. I thought the elder Mr. Greenleaf would have been a perfect role for Matt Damon with a little makeup. Can you imagine?  Lol.

And, you would think playing Marge would have been easy, but I found Fanning flat. In fact, I found the entire cast flat, except for the detectives and hotel staff.

It was beautifully shot and directed.  I missed Meredith.  And, I guess they left out Tom’s love interest that he takes the voyage with at the end.  The ending with the detective’s discovery was ok, but not as provocative as the Damon ending.

I haven’t read the books, but have seen the Damon movie.  Think I’ll watch it again. I actually own the dvd, but have no idea where my dvd player is or if I still have it. Lol

  4. I wasn’t wild about any of the main characters casting, but found it quite enjoyable nonetheless.  I wish the show had more discussion.

  5. I wish I liked the actor playing Ripley, but I don’t find him interesting at all.  I like the story, so I intend to watch it anyway.  I’d like to compare to the movie and commented on that thread.

April showers (rain or snow) brings May flowers, to be followed by many, many Cicadas (in my area, at least.)

Not looking forward to the coming invasion of the crunchy critters.

My guess is the Duggar forum has 1 or maybe a few posters who made/make frequent complaints. While all complaints are valid in that is how a poster is feeling, they may not all be valid as far as PT's guidelines. Context is important, as well as personally clashes.

Maybe it has taken this long to see we are no worse than anywhere else on PT, and from what I gather we are actually more respectful toward the Duggars than posters are in other reality shows.

    Very true.

  8. I am grateful for the input I’ve received from some great people with such valuable insight!  Pretty smart coolies around here.  Experiences in life brings much wisdom and there’s plenty of that around here.  Oh, and people who have no problem admitting if they are wrong or made a mistake. Quick to forgive and move on to brighter things.  That’s a huge skill, imo.  It makes you more willing to be vulnerable.  We all need a soft place to fall in hard times.

I am not diabetic - but PCOS ( although diabetes runs heavily through family) I do watch two guys on insta...one the insulin resistant guy - who eats and then tracks it on his glucose monitor - and then data driven fasting- his wife is diabetes 1...I find them both very interesting as far as how which foods increase insulin...

I’ll check them out. I’ve learned so much from the global diabetes community.  I don’t think I have insulin resistance.  My pump/cgm is supposed to monitor my blood sugar level (displays the number) and gives me the right amount of insulin every 5 minutes, as it senses I need it. It backs off, if I go too low.  It beeps to alert me if going too high or too low, as well.  I do bolus extra insulin for food. My former pump had some of these features.  It just takes a while for the pump to adjust to my system so its algorithm can be applied.  I’m excited.  This could make a huge difference in the lives of so many people.

I hope you are doing ok with your health issue.  Managing a chronic health condition can be stressful.  I suspect that’s one reason I enjoy realty tv and other mindless entertainment. Lol.

@SunnyBeBe - my goodness, life is complex for sure. I'm so sorry about your friend's situation. I know you'd love to be able to make it all better with the wave of a magic wand. But you're hanging in and being supportive, which is a priceless gift to your friend.

About your weight loss and fitness program - WOWZER. Thanks for sharing that. It's helping inspire and motivate me as I'm dealing with a few relevant things I'd rather not talk a lot about right now. You've clearly put a lot of effort into improving your health, and I applaud you big time for it!!

Thanks a lot! I wish you much success on your journey.  We never know what others are dealing with.

With my Type I diabetes, i really have to stay diligent.  Oh, which reminds me. I started using my new Medtronic 780 g insulin pump last week!  It has much promise to keep my blood sugar in control. It’s an upgrade from my old model.  A little rocky start, but getting there.   I have so much to be thankful for.
