A 911 call? They don't show up on cell phones. Safety issue for DV.
Hmm….well. I didn’t call. This is a mystery.

I’m excited about the eclipse. A neighbor brought me a pair of eclipse glasses. Hope they’re approved.
I had a deputy come to my door tonight saying an incomplete cell phone call came from here. But, there was no such call. I showed him my phone. I hadn’t even used the phone in the preceding hour. He had no explanation. Isn’t that odd? He didn’t check with the neighbors. How does that happen?

The movie made me think a lot. You never really know someone. I also felt Tom/Matt had a teal talent for impersonation. That was also presented in the series, but not nearly as impressive, imo.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it was a bit heavy on the Italian….speaking….lol. Sorry. It was a bit much. And yes, I’ve watched entire movies with English subtitles. Not sure why this seemed so much.

Yeah, the casting here was not good, imo. I still made it all the way through though. I thought the elder Mr. Greenleaf would have been a perfect role for Matt Damon with a little makeup. Can you imagine? Lol.
And, you would think playing Marge would have been easy, but I found Fanning flat. In fact, I found the entire cast flat, except for the detectives and hotel staff.
It was beautifully shot and directed. I missed Meredith. And, I guess they left out Tom’s love interest that he takes the voyage with at the end. The ending with the detective’s discovery was ok, but not as provocative as the Damon ending.
I haven’t read the books, but have seen the Damon movie. Think I’ll watch it again. I actually own the dvd, but have no idea where my dvd player is or if I still have it. Lol

I wasn’t wild about any of the main characters casting, but found it quite enjoyable nonetheless. I wish the show had more discussion.

I wish I liked the actor playing Ripley, but I don’t find him interesting at all. I like the story, so I intend to watch it anyway. I’d like to compare to the movie and commented on that thread.

Oh, man I was hoping someone would want to discuss this series compared to the movie. I’ve seen the movie at least a dozen times.

Just wondering if anyone has an update on Chrissy.

My guess is the Duggar forum has 1 or maybe a few posters who made/make frequent complaints. While all complaints are valid in that is how a poster is feeling, they may not all be valid as far as PT's guidelines. Context is important, as well as personally clashes.
Maybe it has taken this long to see we are no worse than anywhere else on PT, and from what I gather we are actually more respectful toward the Duggars than posters are in other reality shows.
Very true.

Tori always seemed so obsessed with Dean. I guess it grew old.

Did I see that little motorized car being driven by Josiah (at the time 1 year old?) go up on 2 wheels? I’m going to rewatch it to confirm. If so….this is some serious stuff. I mean….really serious.

Just wanted to provide update on my previous post about an ex-boyfriend who called me after 20 plus years to ask me out. Well, it couldn’t have gone any better. He took me to eat at a place we used to frequent and it was like old times! New owners, but very cordial. We talked for hours! I had the best time and he was so complementary! I’d forgotten he’s 10 years younger than me. He looked so nice. He wore a dress jacket!
He says he wants this to continue. To sum it up, he says my lips are as soft and luscious as ever! Can’t resist that! Lol. I am very happy with things so far.

I finally binged this series and loved it. I found it extremely creative and gave me food for thought as I ponder the afterlife. I now envision heaven a little differently.

Even when we disagree, we are never disagreeable to each other. I love that and will miss it if we are shut down.
I am also grateful for the MANY humorous posts that made me snort or LOL. Humor is sometimes the only healthy way to process some of these situations. The Sweet Fellowship thread has some great humorous observations. Thanks everyone.
I too have a long history with this forum. I started the Gimme That Old Time Religion thread in May 2014! Can you believe it? It seems like yesterday. I felt I had a unique perspective, because I too grew up in a fundamentalist church. Not exactly like the Duggar family lifestyle, but the church rules and doctrine (Fundamental Baptist) are very similar. I feel I learned a lot and healed a lot (many children experienced trauma) from the Duggar forum. For that, I am grateful.

I am grateful for the input I’ve received from some great people with such valuable insight! Pretty smart coolies around here. Experiences in life brings much wisdom and there’s plenty of that around here. Oh, and people who have no problem admitting if they are wrong or made a mistake. Quick to forgive and move on to brighter things. That’s a huge skill, imo. It makes you more willing to be vulnerable. We all need a soft place to fall in hard times.

@Scarlett45, welcome home! I hope your trip was memorable. Your attitude is awesome. I relate as I provide the majority of care for my parents, who are 83 and 87.
I wanted to share something that I found really bizarre, but amusing. I’m not sure what to make if it, but I’m pretty sure I know how I’m going to respond. I was standing at my kitchen window a couple of days ago thinking….feeling a tad melancholy……I said to myself….There’s no way some man is going to just pick up his phone and call me…..so, get with it. Go online to meet prospective dates. THEN! Today, a person I dated many years ago, called my office (I’m online with same number for 20 years.) and asked me out! Lol. Can you believe it? Blew my mind. He was a nice guy. We did get along and he was a lot of fun. We stopped seeing each other for no real reason. Anyway…I said I’d go. I said I’d get back with him tomorrow to firm up plans. Sometimes, I guess the planets align…..lol. He hasn’t seen a recent photo of me, so isn’t aware of my recent health kick. As I recall, when we dated I weighed about 130. Oh well…..lol.

I am not diabetic - but PCOS ( although diabetes runs heavily through family) I do watch two guys on insta...one the insulin resistant guy - who eats and then tracks it on his glucose monitor - and then data driven fasting- his wife is diabetes 1...I find them both very interesting as far as how which foods increase insulin...
I’ll check them out. I’ve learned so much from the global diabetes community. I don’t think I have insulin resistance. My pump/cgm is supposed to monitor my blood sugar level (displays the number) and gives me the right amount of insulin every 5 minutes, as it senses I need it. It backs off, if I go too low. It beeps to alert me if going too high or too low, as well. I do bolus extra insulin for food. My former pump had some of these features. It just takes a while for the pump to adjust to my system so its algorithm can be applied. I’m excited. This could make a huge difference in the lives of so many people.
I hope you are doing ok with your health issue. Managing a chronic health condition can be stressful. I suspect that’s one reason I enjoy realty tv and other mindless entertainment. Lol.

I agree with Clayton’s sister. Annalee seems to loath him. She seems disgusted to be with him. I do not get their marriage at all.

@SunnyBeBe - my goodness, life is complex for sure. I'm so sorry about your friend's situation. I know you'd love to be able to make it all better with the wave of a magic wand. But you're hanging in and being supportive, which is a priceless gift to your friend.
About your weight loss and fitness program - WOWZER. Thanks for sharing that. It's helping inspire and motivate me as I'm dealing with a few relevant things I'd rather not talk a lot about right now. You've clearly put a lot of effort into improving your health, and I applaud you big time for it!!
Thanks a lot! I wish you much success on your journey. We never know what others are dealing with.
With my Type I diabetes, i really have to stay diligent. Oh, which reminds me. I started using my new Medtronic 780 g insulin pump last week! It has much promise to keep my blood sugar in control. It’s an upgrade from my old model. A little rocky start, but getting there. I have so much to be thankful for.

There’s been a lot of heavy news this week. Life is full of surprises…both good and bad. I got news that a dear friend of mine has a very serious medical condition. Life is so precious. Trying to be supportive of them and their recovery. I don’t understand why things like that happen to such wonderful people…
Also, I’m trying to stay focused on my health and staying as healthy as possible. (Still struggling with Post Covid Syndrome) I’m glad to report that I’m a hair away from a 70 pound weight loss. Some may recall, I’ve posted my progress here since July last year. I’m still working out most days. I had to laugh yesterday when I left the gym and stopped by a store to pick up some items for my mom. (I run most all errands and shopping when I leave the gym still in my workout clothes.) A very nice looking man operating a mobility scooter with a basket on the front approached me. . He said to me, why don’t you hop in and let me scoot you around? 🤣 I wasn’t sure if he was serious, but I smiled and said, Thank you, but I need the walking for exercise. Lol. He said, ok and laughed. Anyway, it made me feel good. I’ll take it as a compliment. Lol
I’m focusing on getting new workout clothes. I haven’t been too pleased with the options. I would love to create my own line. Sports bras in particular need more options. Any suggestions are welcome. It’s difficult to find any with a large cup that aren’t at least $60.00.
The upside is that my health continues to improve and I feel incredibly good! Except for my tennis elbow and PCS….ugh…still very GRATEFUL!
