  1. Hi Willowy! I seriously doubt Reid would learn languages to chat to new people or because he has a burning passion to travel. I don't think he'd take a class. As I say, I don't even think he would learn 'speak' the language, as such. But being able to get his hands on books fresh off the press which won't be translated for months or indie/art house movies which may never even be subtitled in English? That seems reasonable. Or just learning them to keep his brain busy, or because it used to be seen as part of a well rounded education. It may have been a mistake on the part of the writers, but I just don't feel it was a particularly egregious one.
  2. I definitely think that at first Reid was only an expert in the English language. But Reid started mentioning having at least some passive skills in a few languages (being able to listen and read, but not speak much), watching Russian and French movies etc, in about season 5 (?). This actually makes sense and is realistic, as he would be able to teach himself those skills quickly by listening to audio books (which we know he loves) in combination with versions of the same book in English and the other language. Add in some DVDs with subtitles to learn colloquial expressions and an exceptional memory, and this would be completely possible. He possibly would only be able to say a couple of expressions in each language, as passive and active skills and often not anywhere near the same level even in your native language. Don't get me started on speed reading War and Peace, though. Speed reading just doesn't work for novels if you are trying to enjoy them and not just look for information.
  3. I think giving Reid another relationship needs to wait a year or so more. Otherwise it kind of looks a bit quick, for him, and undermines the tragedy a little. I totally agree on the whole Maeve thing being a waste, though. I thought they were cute together (or would have been if they'd actually, you know, been together).
  4. Love the socks. They need to bring back the really loud socks.
  5. While I doubt that Morgan and Savanah are really breaking up this episode and I'm not really a devoted shipper either, I do hope Garcia and Morgan get together eventually. But, I don't want it to happen until the last season because I really don't need to see the unnecessary drama of those two breaking up and getting back together etc. Boring. However, I wouldn't mind watching Morgan silently realising that he's totally devoted to Garcia while she's oblivious and busy with her actual current boyfriend. The optics of that could be pretty adorable.
  6. I liked it, but then I actually enjoyed the previously mentioned X-Files episode 'Home' as well. I don't know what that says about me. I mean, it was all utterly ridiculous, but I love shlock-horror movies, so this just seemed like a bit of fun. Not everything can be deep and meaningful. And I really loved that they actually gave Blake something to do. They really need to flesh her character out more in little ways like this. The actress did some nice work in that scene.
  7. For me the worst hair was probably season 1 and 2 as it just looked like greasy teen hair. I remember that I managed to like both season 5 and 6 Reid-hair (Rair?). But I think it seemed to be getting a bit ridiculously long in late season 5 and with the whole revolver/vest/watch chain thing that was going on he kind of looked like he'd stepped out of a Western. Don't get me wrong, it was cute as all get out, but not very federal or agenty and it took me out of the story a bit. So the boy band hair was a relief. I think I preferred his hair last year but it's getting more mad scientist-esque again as it grows out. The guy must be running out of new styles by now. I wonder if next year he'll have to shave it all off to keep it different.
  8. Do you loathe her sparkly unicorn skateboarding puppy booboo specialness or love her style?
  9. Nice to see familiar faces! I was thinking about this in light of events on other shows recently, and realized that Reid is probably the only character on TV at the moment where, if he was killed off, I would genuinely mourn his 'passing' almost like he was a flesh and blood aquaintance. Not because the actor is pretty (he is pretty, but that's often the default for actors) but because I feel like Reid is incredibly emotionally vulnerable and a genuinely sweet character, which is quite rare. The idea of him not having the chance to go on and learn many more wonderful things and experience the richness of a full life in his completely fictional reality would be rather heart breaking! I am aware that this is crazy, but there we go. I hope they never go there, even if the actor eventually decides to quit the show.
