  1. That's a new song that wasn't in the musical, by the way. Given the length of the movie, I was expecting added dialogue and perhaps a new song or two. Not really fond of spoiler spaces, but I suppose I had better use them here:
  2. Saw it earlier today, thought it was fantastic. I got a little emotional a few times just thinking about what a dream role it was for Ariana Grande to play Glinda, and she actually got to do it. And she is well suited for it. Liked the way the title font was done to reflect the '39 Wizard of Oz.
  3. Three guys with super breath living in the house, and no one can be bothered to dust the floor?
  4. Cyrano was a musical? I had no idea. Anyway, yeah you would think everybody already knows Wicked is a musical, but obviously that isn't the case. As for the movie being 2:41 long, I have to wonder why? It just seems completely unnecessary, especially since it's only covering the first act. I'm guessing they are padding the dialogue, and maybe even a new song or two. I wonder if they're even including some material from the book?
  5. Getting back to an earlier discussion about how the film was being promoted: I was talking to a woman who was telling me she was going to go see it, and I told her I had the soundtrack to the play if she wanted to familiarize herself with the songs. She was quite surprised to find out it was a musical. So yeah, the trailers don't make it blatantly obvious.
  6. Yeah, I was expecting the Luthor super suit, but I didn't expect it to be made from the Steel suit. Clever the way they keep things connected on this show. I still think this is probably the best Superman series I've seen. I bet if Clark had known he was weakening and would eventually lose his powers, he might not have revealed himself to the world the way he did. True, he was largely forced into it, but he also seemed to give up and accept it.
  7. I don't know who Charli-XCX is or why she merited being host AND musical guest (something usually only reserved for the biggest stars). But one thing I did like about her is that her songs were short. I mean that sincerely as a compliment, by the way. I've thought for decades that songs were getting too long and bloated. Most Beatles songs were two or three minutes.
  8. I don't know. I don't like tattoos, but if she had to get one, a sunflower growing out of her sock might look kind of cool. But she chose the dolphin. I was a little surprised to see Dale, I'm not sure why but I wasn't expecting to see him. Now if Dr. Sturgis shows up, I will be surprised. Not sure how much longer they can go on with these part time guest stars from Young Sheldon, although I enjoy it.

It is hard to believe, but you have to remember those were very different times. Women were expected to marry at a young age (not saying 14), that's how they secured their future. The parents had a chance to see their daughter with a committed man who was wealthy and successful, what more could they hope for? I'm not saying every set of parents would have done the same. But my niece got married when she was 15. There were different attitudes and expectations.
  10. I guess the football coach can't recruit the Kent boys now. It's one thing to cheat on the sly, and it's another when everyone knows they're Superman's kids. And likely have powers, although I don't think they said whether or not they were trying to hide that. Looks like they aren't though.
  11. Omigosh, that piano bit was ridiculous. I have to admit I was expecting something similar again, so I was pleasantly surprised when they took a comedic turn. I also enjoyed them kicking the new cast members under the bus. I thought the show was stronger than average. As someone said there wasn't a weak sketch in the bunch (although I thought the Bald Restaurant bit and Jokes fit that category). I liked the Rorschach sketch, Dads, The Janitor, Snakeskin, and even Weekend Update was better than usual. Che was on fire. Funny how it seems like they put Burr into practically every sketch, compared to how they did with Michael Keaton, where he was barely in it.
  12. The differing liquor laws fascinate me (although I don't drink). Where I live, it's illegal to even have an open container of alcohol in the car. But I understand that isn't the case everywhere.
  13. According to Google, Texas raised the drinking age from 18 to 21 in 1986. I'm not sure what year this show is set. I was just wondering about Georgie's responsibility in the situation he was in. I don't think they ever specifically said what age the kids were other than that they were "teenagers". Where I live, the alcohol laws are very strict. I don't think we can even be in bars unless we're 21. If an adult gets caught with minors drinking, they're likely to throw the book at you, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, among other things. Maybe they were all over 18 though.
  14. I think the main difference there is Gaga had stronger material.
