  1. I appreciated Vonn's vulnerability. How wonderful that she's been able to do something she clearly loves so much as her job.
  2. Andrea will not break these U.S. ladies although she's going to keep trying.
  3. Choi skated beautifully at home in tribute to her late mother. Good for her.
  4. That's the thing, none of the women melted down like Nathan did. They made a mistake and then moved on. Nathan couldn't land anything right in the short. I think Mirai fully rotated the triple axel, which is still worth more with the fall than a clean double axel. The risk paid off even if it didn't go as well as in the Team Event.
  5. Gymnastics has made me doubt the age of very small female athletes.
  6. I give all three American women credit for not letting their trouble on the first element carry through. Clean programs would have been better, but they didn't meltdown. I 'm also proud of Karen for throwing in a combination later her program after missing it. That was gutsy.
  7. Johnny was brutal to Mambekova from Kazakhstan.
  8. I'm not sure which shows more mental fortitude from Bradie: moving past an early fall to deliver a solid program or showing no emotion to Andrea's attempts to make her cry in that interview.
  9. I give Bradie a lot of credit for getting it back together after the first fall.
  10. I came here after seeing Swaney and I am still at a loss. I have so many feelings about this. I kind of love it and hate it at the same time. At least it gave me a good laugh.
  11. At nationals, the Shibs had a nice lead after the short dance. Without that lead they needed to do more than just not mess up. It seemed to me like they may have tinkered with their program again after the Team Event. I agree that their experienced served them well tonight. Charlie White had a good point on Olympic Ice last night. He said that the Shibs would need to skate at 110% to get to the podium past H/D since H/D have been stronger in the free dance this season. He also said that when you put that much effort into a skate, that's when mistakes happen. You have to take the risk though in these circumstances. I think all 3 American teams skated like everything was on the line tonight. Two of the teams couldn't quite control it. Having U.S. Teams finished third and fourth was still a great result for U.S. figure skating. I am also devastated for Madison Chock. She admitted today she's been dealing with an injury and she and Evan had a fall in yesterday's warm-up. It was a shame to see such a lovely program.
  12. Leslie Jones did commentary with Scott Hammilton and Adam Rippon on Tessa and Scott's short dance.
  13. I don't think disappointment is bad sportsmanship. If she tries to insult Tessa and Scott then sure, that's bad sportsmanship. I'm sure all of these top teams understand what she's feeling.
  14. I think there's too much focus on whether Hubbell is making a bitchface and not enough focus on the fact that Donahue is gorgeous.
  15. I also like that the Team Event seemed to help the Shibs and V/M. Both made adjustments after. That bodes well for participation next time around.
  16. I loved V/M more. They looked nervous but they put out an amazing skate.
  17. Tanith has been pretty consistent with praising the skating skills of P/C. It's interesting because that goes against the consensus here.
  18. The U.S. gets a medal! The Shibs lead with couples left, one is an American.
  19. Did the Shibs recut their music again after the Team Event? That's more "Fix You" than I remembered. I've liked that dance more and more each time they performed it.
  20. I hate the concept of this program but I love their costumes.
  21. That was such a lovely program and it suited them so much better than their short dance. The fall was so unfortunate.
  22. This French couple had amazing lifts. I also enjoyed the Queen music (I still wish Ross had made the Olympic team).
