Traveling solo has been my norm and it's my preference. I could travel with someone else but only if we have our own rooms. I don't want to be with people 24 hours a day, even people I like.

Ha, I get ya.  I was brought up in a two bedroom house.  My parents had one bedroom .. me and my two sisters had another.  I had to sleep with my older sister until I got married.  I absolutely HATED it and never got a good nights sleep.  I love my own space.  Once in awhile, even my husband or I will wind up on the sofa.  I hate noise in my bedroom, so sleep with a sound machine on full blast.  I can’t listen to him snoring, even tho I love him.

How about mobile phones that are just, now hear me out - phones?

All thru grammar school, this kid who liked me used to punch me in my upper arm which was black n blue as a result.  He came from a 7 kid poor family, so I didn’t want to report him as his Mother probably had her hands full.  I never told my Mother either.  Never told her anything.  I always wanted to keep things to myself.    In fact lots of minor things happened tome, but I never rocked the boat and got anyone in trouble, even when I was older.  I must be very strong inside.  The only thing that freaked me out in my life was when my Disney daughter had cancer a few years ago at 39.  Two surgeries, 14 radiation therapys and pills.  Her husband bought her a small Timeshare and they go often.  If it wasn’t for my wonderful husband, I would have died from fright.  She’s cancer free now, and enjoys every day to the fullest, thank God.

Thanks. And my crime? My race/ethnicity. In this particular instance? I refused to join in with the bully who offered to be the spotter for gymnastics, where she didn't know what she was doing and I didn't relish hitting my head on the ground or pole. And said I didn't feel like it. She then threatened to kick my ass, repeatedly. Her cronies were egging me on to "DO IT!" They finally cornered me, outside-in the rain-and I had no defense; didn't know how to fight or defend myself (then). A teacher saw what was happening and put a quick end to it.

Alas, my dad was on my way to pick me up because of the rain, but was running late. What a difference 10 minutes made. And he was just as furious when he saw my face.

And both my parents worked full-time. But the thing was, back then (70s/early 80s), parents could talk and deal with each other; we kids were held accountable for whatever unacceptable stuff we did. I have always maintained that I lucked out on the teachers I had from elementary through college.

    And I lived in a rough neighborhood. It's a miracle I didn't turn into a gun-wielding mass shooting monster.

Good for you.  You had a mind of your own and turned out pretty wonderful imo.

  4. This is all Bullshit and cutesy.  Girls sitting around waiting for a Farmer.  Where are the farm hands?  Do they have any?  If they marry one of these girls, what is expected of them exactly?  Do they work he farm too, and cook and clean the house?  They don’t say anything pertaining to all that.   Or, did I miss something pertaining to what is expected of them?  It seems like the Farmer is King.  What about the girls?  I’m a city girl .. what do I know?  It looks like a lonely life to me.  What if they have a baby?  It’s enough to take care of a child and house.

  5. I’m remembering all the places my husband and I went to in the days gone by.  Either in a plane or mostly by car.  All over the U.S.  Now, every morning we decide what grocery store we will go to, and what we will make for dinner.  Can’t drive to Florida anymore .. too much of a hassle, and dangerous at this point.  Oh well.  Thank God for t.v. and my computer.  Oh, and what doctor appointment we have, lol.

Maybe we'll go to EuroDisney or something.  Two birds with one stone.  Or Disney Hong Kong.

My daughter was at Disney again last month.  She said the Magic Kingdom was packed.  People blowing money, eating and drinking.  She had a health scare 2 years ago, which put her in a different frame of mind, so I don’t blame her.  Now, they take the two boys and go wherever they want.  Vacations were always very important to her.  I think lots of people feel that way whether they can afford it or not.

It’s a shame that everything is so expensive now.  Most people just rip out those credit cards and worry about things later unfortunately.  Maybe you can go off season?

I agree something's up with Petco's database.  I go in there occasionally to buy treats, toys or leashes.  They have never been able to access my account for bonus points.  I gave up.

I also order my dog food from Amazon.  Petco doesn't have our brand.

Further Amazon peeve!  I ordered a dress, and they sent the wrong size.  I'm returning it for a refund.  Not even bothering with an exchange.  At least I was able to drop it at the UPS store on my corner with no repackaging.

Amazon Prime is addictive.  I’ve gotten something everyday this past week.  Sometimes, I even get a delivery the same day.  Loving this.

I went to Disney World and Epcot for spring break once because my friend was working in the park. It was my last year of my degree program and the only time I went anywhere for spring break. Glad I went but once was enough and after 3 other trips to Florida to visit family, I never want to go there again. Flat, hot, humid, hideous, and full of craziness.

Besides going to Disney every year for the kids mostly, we actually move from New York to Orlando to a beautiful new development after my husband retired.  Was there for 18 months.  We couldn’t take the heat and other things, so moved back to Long Island.  We do visit relatives tho, and still go to Disney.  Besides the parks there, Disney Marketplace is a great day out.  I love the change of seasons up here tho.  My Sister who lives in Florida, leaves the thermostat on 80.  I told her “get me the hell out of here”.  I was dying.

I stayed in the Jamaica section of Caribbean Beach and had the perfect room.  Walk down the stairs and across the parking lot to the bus stop or walk a bit further to catch the Skyliner.  It was also maybe a 5 minute walk to the main building with the bar, restaurants, and pool.  I have no idea how I lucked into that room.  My research before all said the resort was huge and expect long walks, so I was expecting to get put into the furthest building on the property.

Love everything about the place.  The pool area, the water and boats.  Everything.  We used to drive there every year.  It was an adventure.  We’ve been all over the U.S. by plane, but love going to Orlando the most.

Well that’s not right! 😂  (Not judging. You know me well enough)

Timeshare has one double bed and a pullout.  Expensive.  We would rather be at Caribbean Beach by ourselves.  Babysitting days are over, lol.

I need to take my son to Disney.  I don't want him to be like me, and didn't have a Disney experience until the age of 12 (almost 13)!  Only question is whether to do the theme park or a cruise...

Take him to Disney.  He will be thrilled.  We are a Disney family for years.  My youngest walked the whole Magic Kingdom at 3 years old.  She didn’t want the stroller.  In College, she tried out to be a character, got it and wound up a character for 7 years while in school.  There’s a land for everyone.  All interesting.  My husband used to drop us off at Magic Kingdom, go play golf, then pick us up later on.  The Resorts to stay at are great.  Expensive, but so convenient.  We stay at Caribbean Beach.  Love it.  I rather go there than any other place.  I also have a new jacket too, lol.  It’s a happy place for everyone.  Expensive, but what isn’t ?  My Disney daughter bought a timeshare there in Ft. Wilderness Lodge.  Goes very November.  No room for Mom and Dad tho, dammit.

I would have agreed before, but now with the divorce, the lustre is off the Golden Bachelor and ABC may want to move away from him.

They should.  Why would women still want to bother with this phony, cheater, disgusting man?  Are they that desperate for a man?  He turns my stomach.  I wonder if Teresa is feeling horrible or what?  Did she really care for him, or was she in on this fiasco ?

The 58 year old one looks great for his age. Trim and very youthful. I’d think he was 45. When he told me he was 58 I was shocked. He thought I was 25 until he saw my grey hair lol. He said if he knew I was older he’d make his moves sooner. I guess I should dye my hair.

He only has 1 kid, kid is a teen.

He wants my number and I don’t give it to him.

You don’t have to give him your number.  How about meeting him for coffee in a crowded place for just a little chat if you would like to?  That’s what my Niece does.  No letting him walk you home either, or to your car if you have one.

This week’s Noir Alley was great!  Did anyone watch?  Born to Kill.

We watch them all.  Our Favorite is “ Great Expetations,” , A Letter to Three Wives, the Thin Man Series, and any musical.  Plus Saratoga Trunk.  So many to count.  Picnic too.

My daughter had a bit of this. They weren't creepy or even divorced. Just guys who realized a little later they wanted to have a wife and kids.
She wound up with a guy her age.

And had two little Munchkins.  Nice ending.

i never got banned on TWOP but I learned after a few mod. wrist slaps that I'd better have a backup account just in case.  I used my primary name on most threads but on those that seemed contentious I used another one I didn't care so much about losing.  Back then people didn't know me personally so it was easier to do that.  It's different here.I never did get banned there on either account though.  I don't know how I managed to survive TWOP and yet here I got banned once for a bogus reason.  In some ways I think the former mods. here were even more arbitrary at times and took things too literally.  At least on TWOP I felt that even though they were harsh they were often more reasonable in their "discipline".

@kristen111, I think a lot of us had a kind of love/hate relationship with TWOP.  When it was good it was very, very good, but when it was bad it was AWFUL.  Mods. with Napoleon complexes, LOL.  Yeah, I can laugh about it now.

I never even knew about a TWOP sucks forum.  Back then I was running my own chat board on the Myers Briggs INFJ type and a member of a few others (like the "What Not to Wear" forum on HGTV, now gone) so I didn't have the time to focus on TWOP the way some people did.

As for here before the big mod. change of '24, I used to bristle at some of the wrist slaps I got for the most bogus of reasons such as I've previously mentioned.  Having to acknowledge it and then know that questioning the mod. about it would only make me a future target pissed me off.

Wow, I have to hand it to you for sticking it out!  I probably would have used an alternate account for that time.  You were actually lucky it was only for a year.  My banning here was permanent and I didn't even do anything against the rules.  I guess I stumbled on a land mine in my situation.  My luck.

Once or twice I had a very hard time getting back on.  My kid had to set me up again with new everything.  Plus, I didn’t say anything that warranted such a punishment.  It was very mean of the Mod.  Until now, I never knew thst so many posters had trouble.  IMO, “YeahNo” never said anything to warrant a ban at all.  Maybe some don’t like that she’s so smart.  It as sort of a disability for her unfortunately.  You go girl !

It was so nice today at one point it was 77 here in CA , it lifts my mood tons.  My condo community has had several of our cluster mailboxes opened and emptied with master keys 6-7 times in the last 6 months

Then 2 weeks ago I was sick for couple days and had an RX  taken and a package from Jockey.  Lucky thief got heart medication and black briefs, very sexy.  I changed the RX mail order address to my sons house and of course they sent it signature required so had to get the slip and then to the post office to pick it up.    I went to to pull my license for ID out of my phone and it’s not there.   My son finished my taxes yesterday and took a picture of my license and I didn’t put it back.  The song and dance I did for the postal employee convinced him to hand over my medication.   If this the procedure I’ll switch my address back since I don’t have to sign for them here obviously.    I had a package stolen off my porch 3-4 weeks ago so now my subscriptions from Amazon are going to my sons too.  My HOA is $655 a month but unfortunately cluster mailboxes are the post office responsibility and we only have part time security ( who I’ve never seen) with no phone number to call.  I feel very vulnerable being a older woman living alone. I wouldn’t go to a movie at the shopping center at night and I wrap up grocery shopping before dark too.   Age+ increased crime

The earthquake discussion reminds me how my late husband from PA would get pale during a quake where I hate storms and lightning.  I was at work in a tiny bathroom that had a couple of empty medal revolving greeting card holders in that 89 quake. Pitch black with metal racks falling on me and I’m thinking so this is how I’m going to die with my pantyhose around my ankles?  I NEVER went to the bathroom at work so my fellow employees thought I must be locked in the walk in refrigerator that had big medal electric sliding doors has been a bank previously . ( floral designer )

Just reading this now.  I feel terrible that you have to go thru all this being you are a widow now.  Condos are costly.  We are up to $800 with no mailbox .  Now have to go to the Post Office.  Thank God for Sons.  Even tho I have my husband, our Son does so much for us.  He takes care of all the electronics, puts items together, fixes the plumbing, etc.  you name it.  You are very lucky in that department.  Oh, and I love Jockey underwear also.  Have all colors.  Non binding.  So comfy.  Lol.❤️

Yes, Mrs. Doubtfire is also a misfire for me.  And Robin Williams was always too over-the-top for me.  The one cross-dressing movie I can stand is Victor, Victoria

And back to Tootsie, I couldn't stand the simpering Southern accent.

Speaking of Robin Williams .. I was watching “ the Bird Cage “ for the fiftieth time yesterday.  Too funny with Hank Azara in the kitchen making soup.  Funny.
