  1. I assumed it was a flashback to happier times that Dick's mind instantly went back to since they thought Kory was dead.

I loved the finale. If I must lose the Titans at least I know that they are all fulfilled. Dick and Kory being cute as can be, Kon getting the Superman guidance he wanted, Rachel and Gar finding themselves, Tim finding the work/romance balance with Bernard (all the Tim/Bernard haters can cry about it).

I have to hand it to Brenton Thwaites - he is the only person who has made me care about Dick Grayson; my least favourite Robin.

  2. I really loved both episodes. I'm so glad the show is back.

-The first episode perfectly encapsulated the media journey due to the pandemic and post pandemic. All the hopes for movies only to have them come out to streaming or VOD and the loss of movie theaters.

I wonder if Cary and Curtis will have a bit of a dust-up this season. I could be misreading it, but it looked as if Curtis was peeved when Cary off-handedly mentioned how his publicist wouldn't let him do "Age, Net Worth and Feet" on the red carpet. Cary having chance to really help his friend with an exclusive interview on the red carpet and opting not to do so is not surprising.

-I loved how the second episode cast a spotlight on just how objectified teen boys are in the entertainment industry. People always talk about female celebrities getting the countdown clock treatment where people can't wait until they're 18 to openly perv on them or objectify them. When Noah Jupe (A Quiet Place) turned 17 his team had him doing shirtless with the requisite armpit shots. I cracked up with even Shuli dropped fangs at the idea of being able to market a legal Chase. She wants the best for him but also wants that money.

-I am so glad THE BIG DOOR PRIZE on Apple TV+ exists because now I can spend even more time with Josh Segarra playing a guy just as loveable as Lance.

-Bless Cary's heart. I see many an actor milking their projects LOOOOOONG after they should in order to stay relevant.

"He has serious issues that would make marriage to him challenging, but unless I have missed something, the writers identify the problem as Michelle's simply falling out of love with him for no readily apparent reason other than "that sometimes happens in a relationship."

Exactly. I was hoping that Rebecca asking Ted why he didn't take Michelle to Paris himself would loosen something out of him - to show that he realized that there was a failing on his part that wasn't solely down to him being too perky and accommodating. That bit showed us that he had time to honour everyone else and help them be better people and show that he appreciated them but didn't do that for Michelle.

Even with Henry. He's been tearing up inside about being apart from him, but he's too caught up in Michelle and Dr. Jacob to not give Henry his full attention. And when he does have his full attention at bedtime, he's asking him questions about Michelle and Dr. Jacob. He's not being in the moment with those he loves and instead just focusing on what's hurting him.

And if he does reconcile with Michelle (I assume Jake did propose and she turned him down, hence that awkward bit at the car and her looking back at Ted) I don't think we've seen enough in Ted to show that he has made any real substantial change in how he approaches his relationship with her.

  4. -As much as I don't want Ted and Rebecca to get together, I equally do not want Ted and Michelle to reconcile. Yes, we don't need to see everything played out onscreen, but what could possibly have changed from her wanting distance, then nudging Ted on signing the divorce papers to now? Yes, we got a scene this season (IIRC) where she seemed impress how he didn't fall into his standard pattern, but other than that why would she want to be back with him? Hoping it's a misdirect (as I'm hoping that green matchbook is a misdirect).

-Proud of Isaac doing captain tings and letting his team know it's not on to hang onto nudes, or in O'Brien's case pic of someone defecating.

-I loved that they had Ted reading Marcus Rashford's book to Henry. Very nice touch.

-The mad thing about the leak storyline is that Juno and Olivia Wilde were part of The Fappening. The bit about it Keeley posing nude versus this leak was that one was a choice and that's very true. I know Keeley Hazell put every bit of her personal sentiment into that storyline.

-Jamie and Rebecca being there for Keeley was lovely.

Richard bringing a few bottles from his wine cellar--not the best, but good ones!--to Sam's restaurant

³I will have to rewatch the bit, but I think at the end when Richard is joining the fellas at the table he announces he brought the good wine. So not the best for Ola's paying customers but the good wine for his teammates.

the pop up shoebox thing just would absolutely creep me out.

It was so embarrassingly juvenile and I'm glad they upended it by the diorama being destroyed and Nate having to screw his courage to the sticking place and just ask her like an adult. No bluster, no puffing himself up because of his job - just someone asking another person out. That was growth. And the fact that ultimately he had no one but himself in that moment - no Diamond Dogs; his mum and sister didn't have anything for him because as women they know, if it's not on, it's not on. So I'm glad he found his courage and without having to spit.

And of course, the boys cleaning up the restaurant (including Bumbercatch, who just happens to know how to fix neon!) was *chef's kiss*

A wonderful moment. This was a team where in series on you had Jamie, Isaac and Colin bullying Nate, Jamie and Roy at each other's throats, Jamie being pissy and telling Trent that Ted was celebrating with the team after a loss and now they all come together, again with no encouragement from Ted. They followed their hearts to help their friend. Just as Ted told Beard in the pub, "This is their team, we're just borrowing it." Now, he said that about Baz, Paul and Jeremy but the sentiment is the same. Ted is just passing through. Like Jason said Dr. Sharon was to be like Mary Poppins just coming through, helping out and dashing off leaving no carbon footprint; that's how Ted is. He's there to build a team. And when he wins the whole damn thing he can go home. At least that's me speculating.

Love to be back at training, even if it was just a bunch of sight gags and literal dick jokes.

As usual with the show I love when they zag when I think they're going to zig. I was so sure that there would be a joke about the size of Jamie's dick due to the size of the loop, but nope. Thought when Sam was talking about congratulating someone who took a fashion risk they would pan to Dani with his beanie. Again, nope - another player. Ted thinking Beard was referring to Jane trying to convince Beard to get married, but nope - just pegging (which, if anyone would be down for that it would be Beard).

And just like last week's suggestion of movie nights and pillow fights was a callback to what Ted suggested the team do in S1. This time with Sam offering up those options. S2 Jan corrected Jamie over his pronunciation of Cryuff, this time he corrects Beard, who thanks him unlike Jamie.

I'm not exactly sure the purpose of the beautiful montage of shop openings each morning, but it did make me want to hop a plane to London, so I guess it worked?

I think it's their little salute to the area they have filmed in for so long. They know it drives tourism to the place. The bar that is the establishing shot for The Crown and Anchor gets a lot of tourists, I think they're giving love to the other business owners hoping it would do the same for them.

No wonder Sam is such a great person. I love his dad. And in an amazing coincidence, I almost wore that same outfit as well!

I was literally eating Chin Chin when his scene came up. I obviously summoned him.

Also, I'm so effing sick of Evil Connor

My only complaint about Evil Conner is that Joshua Orpin is playing it unevenly. It's a bit schlocky, but I handwave it as Kon just having a hard time adopting that persona.

As a fan of the Superboy: The Boy of Steel run by Geoff Johns where Conner returns from the dead and moves to Smallville so that he can figure out who he really is and what he really wants out of of life; and to also find out more about Lex, I love that TITANS is tackling Conner's search for connection. Superman is ghosting him (another plot point I have loved in the comics) so Kon is drawn by the only "father" he has access to. With Lex being dead and Mercy carrying employing the same smooth-talking tactics that works for Lex, it makes sense that Kon will go with the idea of the "father" who actually paid attention to him and valued what he brings to the table, ability-wise.

Speaking of valuing abilities, Bernard getting stroppy because Tim wanted to trust the undefinable (rain dog) versus going the science route was shocking. Bernard acted like a petulant child who literally took his toy car because Tim had a different opinion on how to approach this unique situation. Bernard works in a lab that caters to Amazonian Princesses and aliens surely he can't discount instinct considering what the wonders he personally knows about. He's helping Tim's teammates who are an alien, alien-human clone, a guy who can turn into things, a demon's daughter. Bernard is seeing a guy who returned from the dead, but Tim trusting his guts is a bridge too far.

  8. Fun film, but the premise is very slight. The 90-minute runtime works due to there not being much story there. Nicholas Hoult is a delight and Nic Cage brings the right amount of crazed camp

noticed this show was co-created by Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent on Ted Lasso who also writes for said show). I'm guessing his three year commitment to Lasso is why the renewal was cancelld.

AMC needed to cut costs so they reneged on several renewals of shows - SOULMATES was a budgetary sacrifice. Goldstein is has another series he co-created and writes for SHRINKING on Apple+ so his TED LASSO commitment isn't an issue.

J.J Feild was fantastic in his episode. He deserved a Critics Choice Awards nomination like Betsy Brandt did for it.

For me the strongest episodes were Ep. 3 and onwards. Would love to have seen what other stories they could have come up with.

Another moment that got me was when the Three finally informed Connor, and Roman grabbed Connor's hand and hugged for a moment, as a gesture of love and support

    .

I loved that moment. It was part of the the through-line that Connor is a good big brother to Roman (Connor taking Roman fly-fishing being Roman's happiest memory, Con being the one to go after Roman when Shiv cut him down while the four were having a discussion about teaming up with Kendall to go against Logan).

    So is Gerri hired back?

As far as I'm concerned she wasn't officially fired. Sure, Roman told her the news but we don't know if Roman had a chance to hear his voice mail and release the info of Gerri's firing to others to make it official (get her exit package together, etc.). Did Roman even get a chance to confirm to Tom that he fired her? And if she had been officially fired I don't see Karl, Karolina, Frank and Hugo letting her into the cone to strategize how to handle letting people know of Logan's demise.

  12. I hope it's her AVATAR obligations but her AVATAR 3 was filmed at the same time as THE WAY OF WATER and the first act of AVATAR 4 was filmed then as well. And as 4 takes place on Earth and a different land, Bailey wouldn't necessarily be in that film much.

Her mom-ager posted a quote about better things come to those who are patient and the best things come to those who don't give up, which feels to me that it wasn't Bailey's call. But who knows.

  13. /couldn't tell, but was the tourist eaten at the end/

Yes. Alden and O'Shea's characters talk about seeing his body outside the cave and there was a quick cut to his mangled body.

One of them was aghast about the things Jimmy did -- and apparently does more in coming episodes which wouldn't be condoned by any professional therapist.

I understand people feeling how they feel about media but it's curious to me that critics are acting as if we are not dealing with fictional characters. I see this often now where people feel as if we are dealing with real life scenarios and characters should adhere to what society views is the right and "moral" way. This is a sitcom. This is entertainment not a moral guidepost. The scenarios are done for comedic purposes. No one is advocating for therapists to do the same as Jimmy.

I have enjoyed all the episodes but this week's episode is my favourite by far. Perfect casting of Lily Rabe as Paul's daughter.

It's great that they quickly resolved Gabby's cold-shouldering of Liz. I get that now that Jimmy and Alice are emerging from the other side of their grief, but as Liz said last week she was the one there, not Gabby. And about time Jimmy thanked her because he was too lost in his grief and floudering to be emotionally present for Alice.

I think tonally the show is like "Scrubs", but the way the characters are adult enough to quickly resolve their issues and the show has no intention of drawing it is a "Ted Lasso" thing.

I had a laugh when Jimmy (or maybe Gabby) asked Paul, "What, are you a chef?", or something to that effect because Ford's son Ben is a famous chef.

Same when Liz said people always asks her for her playlist. Christa is the music supervisor on this and many of her husband's other shows

  15. Sarah Polley wanted to keep the location vague. Just like she never specified their religion though the real events took place in Bolivia within a Mennonite colony.

  16. Damien Chazelle's bold, audacious dazzling look at a group of people at the juncture when the silent films pivoted to sound and the effect it has on their careers.

Saw it twice in theaters and enjoyed it on the highest of levels both times. An astonishment of a film with stunning performances. It's a career best for Margot Robbie IMO, a gorgeous heartfelt performance by Brad Pitt and Diego Calva is a revelation. Sadly

The score is outrageous. Justin Hurwitz and as shocking as the lack of acting and cinematography nominations are, I am happy that the Academy nominated him for Best Score.

It's a glorious paean to the era and the players.

  17. It was among my top 5 films of last year and I wad absolutely gutted that the cast didn't secure BAFTA nor Oscar nominations. Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley,Judith Ivey and Sheila McCarthy were astounding.
