Good point! I saw a poll about them adding 2 2nd leaders because they're all returning and only 2 open 1st leader spots and was wondering if there's any consideration given to who may retire after another season vs. who has a year or two left.

Do they ever give girls 2nd leader as a 3rd year and then no GL or G2L in their 4th+ year? I read somewhere (maybe here maybe a fb) that the sole purpose of the 2nd leader is to get them ready for 1st leader. Would it make sense to then not give anyone above that 2nd leader even if they did it in the past so as to get people that may be with the team longer the experience to someday be a 1st leader? Or am I totally misunderstanding the whole process?

Yea I understand that. It’s probably also different for those that have watched year over year and seen them “grow” as opposed to just binging all of the seasons out of order which I may or may not have done lol

I didn’t mean it to neg Amber! I think she’s amazing. I don’t see it so much as a height thing. Just from what I’ve seen in terms of being a leader with your performance. I tried googling the performance but can’t find it. Any chance you know when it was? I’d love to see it- totally open to having my mind changed and eating crow (:

This is a long one so please do stick with me but at the risk of being booed off of here . . . (; Am I the only one that wasn’t all that floored by the veteran candidate cuts last season? I’ve been binging the seasons (a little out of order) and trying to catch up on these boards (but there is A LOT here). Most of the comments seem to disagree with the cuts. In the industry you’re often times hired for one year, and that is your contract. At the end of that year, you audition with the rest of the newcomers. If you fit the directors’ visions for that year, congrats one more year. If not, thank you for your time we owe you nothing. I understand that this year brought upon everyone unprecedented circumstances and was a little disappointed to see how they were handled but I’m not sure I disagree with the cuts entirely. It seems that Hannah and Brennan were offered to defer their training camps (maybe I misunderstood) and come back when they were feeling better. This is more than most performers are offered. Also, as much as I love watching Brennan’s journey and think she is probably a fabulous teammate; she is difficult to watch perform even at her best. She dances like she is being held at gun point and forced to- maybe this was a product of the environment she was in. Who knows. I think Hannah may have been fabulous in a modern dance company or a niche-contemporary troop. She dances angrily for ‘DCC style’. At first it came off as spunky and hard hitting but when she lost that this year, her personality wasn’t translating in her dance and like I said, the best word I could come up with for how she looked is ‘angry’. She was dancing like she didn’t want to be there. I wish they had taken time to recoup to 100%. Lily’s cut broke my heart to watch. Season 14 was the first season I watched and I was such a fan. I think she would’ve done way better in a different group. Say what you will about Victoria but I do think dancing next to her is one of the things that saved Lily last year (not that Victoria saved her but dancing next to someone other than MM lol). When she was lumped in with Meredith and Madeline they treated them as a group instead of recognizing her strengths (she was by far the strongest of the 3). I think they just always lumped her with Meredith unfortunately and should’ve allowed her to shine in group 3. I was so sad to see her cut but I understand the frustration of a choreographer of having the same notes for someone year over year. Do you cut your losses and hope that you can fill the shoes or do you keep banging your head on the wall. To be clear for Lily, I would’ve banged my head on the wall lol. This is getting crazy in length so I’m Going to conclude with Meredith by saying I really don’t understand how she made the team in the first place. I don’t. She’s beautiful- there’s my something nice to say. Like I said I’m slowly catching up on these threads and I try to search old forums before posting but thank you all for sticking with me here! Xx

I loved watching Bridget- did she say why she retired? I tried searching the threads but didn’t see anything. I think as a second year, she would’ve been a far better choice than Maddie for 2nd point (am I allowed to say that? I know everyone loves her). I think Amber is fabulous and one of the best girls on the team I just don’t know that I ever see her being a ‘point-girl’. Maybe it’s because I’m newer to the show and the threads and don't quite understand the politics of it all but I feel the same way about Gina. As amazing as they are, I just don’t see them being the best person for that role. I should add that I would be thrilled to be wrong of course

I totally agree I love hearing what other people see vs. don’t see on the team which is why I’m so happy I found these threads! When you have an ensemble like this, people connect to and take in the talent differently than they do with most professional dance corps.

First time poster in this thread- hope I'm doing this right. I started watching MTT this year since we were spending a lot more time at home (; I have a lot of experience performing and have danced with some of the choreographers that they bring in so I was excited to watch for the dance/performance aspect. I keep seeing all the Amanda love and I have to say- other than her looks I just don't get it. We keep cracking up at the gif of VK stepping out on a pom at auditions and while it is hilarious, there is a DCC motion video (which is pre-choreographed, rehearsed, and has the opportunity for multiple takes) of Amanda barely being able to complete a double turn and half-performing every skill attempted other than the Meredith magic fingers . Every time they compliment her on the show, they show her posing or making cute faces while they (wisely) never show her dancing. I had to search multiple times for actual footage of her dancing and she's just not that good. Not to mention her kicks are low and her jump split is probably the worst on the team. I also find it to be pretty clear she's only there to be on TV til she books some other gig. Wow- didn't intend to go in on her this way, just started typing and I guess it all came out lol. Someone please let me know what I am not seeing with her though!

Do you have this for any other years? Would be interested to see how they move people year over year
