I don’t think anyone really ever cared whether this was on or not, judging by the terrible ratings and non-existent media coverage. The first thing that should’ve come to these showrunners’ minds was why they felt the need to introduce some random adopted son of Batman without Batman actually showing up. Another poor move was deciding to feature a bunch of minor characters from the DC universe that no one would be interested in. The Harvey Dent makeup must’ve put a sizable dent in the budget. And these showrunners should never be able to be hired for another superhero project again. They’ve already got two failed shows under their belts. They don’t need another.

This show is just terrible and I have no idea why I actually watched three episodes of this. The actor playing Turner is incredibly bland and boring, and the rest of the actors aren’t much better, save for the actress who plays Duela. So far I don’t see much in the way of characterization with these characters beyond just basic one-word adjectives. Aside from some of the parental issues, there isn’t much depth there. And Harvey Dent just feels like Misha Collins is cosplaying Castiel in a weird AU Batman universe, but with suits instead of the trenchcoat. I don’t see this getting another season, no matter how well it’s supposedly doing on HBOMax.

Yes If there is a season two, I’m already cringing at the thought of Destiel shippers trying to take over the show because Misha couldn’t make an appearance in the first season due to filming his other show. I’ve already seen stuff online about how the confession scene has to be addressed, and if not in a revival or continuation, how about season 2? -

I rewatched, and I guess I can say aside from the Dean stuff, it was just…there, I guess. I wasn’t thrilled about the ending of the OG series, either. I guess I’m not sure what the point of this prequel was, and I was not clamoring for a story about a slightly younger John and Mary since we had younger versions in the fifth season. And since they’re part of an AU, my investment is even lower. Sure, the actors are cute, but the storylines and writing were just not there. Dean is still dead, so was this really a fix-it to Dean’s storyline? Seeing Bobby was kinda cool, although he got annoying as the OG show wore on. Sorry, Dean, Jack is not family, and will never be for me. There was a lot of standing and talking and more talking, and the demise of the villain seemed anticlimactic. At least Jensen and the car looked good, and the song choices were great. But I really don’t know what could happen with a second season if the show gets one. More of the Core Four with Dean adventures sprinkled in and more rotating guests from the OG show? -

I guess I’m gonna have to watch it again before posting more because while it was great to see Dean again, I just felt…underwhelmed about it all. -
I feel like the only reason the viewership increased is because the show moved back to 8 pm and the appearance of Rowena. It’s kind of obvious that the big reason it was announced she was coming back was because the show needed to increase its ratings to help with renewal chances. It’ll be interesting to see how much Dean is in the finale and what the explanation is for the canon differences between this show and the OG. For me, I think I just can’t connect to this show the same way I could with the mothership. The clown stuff came off as silly to me because it felt a bit tacked on and trying to connect it with John and Mary’s issues seemed way less genuine than it did in “Everybody Loves a Clown.” The ending to this episode felt rushed and a bit disjointed, too. The Dean tidbits are the only thing keeping me tuned in so far, but I really have no clue how he’s being worked into the story.

Sorry, Jensen and Robbie, I wanted to like it, but the episode was again kinda meh. Seeing Rowena was cool, but I guess I’m not surprised her scenes only added up to five minutes. The Akrida stuff is just way too much tell instead of show. Yes, the clowns were creepy, but the scenes toward the end just came off as silly to me. I hope I feel something about next week’s episode, since I’m sure Dean will be in it.

Since there’s only three episodes left counting this one, I decided to watch them but by the 37 minute mark, nothing had really happened. I was wondering if Dean was going to show up, but again, I was denied. I guess Jensen was filming “Big Sky” at the time, but these episodes really need some kind of jolt. He really should have thought about appearing more often. I had to laugh at the complete 180 Betty had about suddenly believing monsters were real after wearing a bracelet and seeing green glowing lights. Plus that whole takedown scene with the cops as they were trying to transport John looked a bit silly. A lot could happen in the last two episodes, but I still can’t believe that this is coming from people who spent multiple years with the OG show.

Does anyone feel that Sam will make an appearance in the last three episodes? And there are more than a few fans, and of course they are mostly Destiel shippers, who think the whole point of Robbie and Jensen developing “The Winchesters” is to have Dean declare his love for Castiel in a more than platonic way in the last few episodes.

I guess there could be a core five if you include her. I was referring to only Mary, John, Carlos, and Latika. Ada is ok, and Millie reminds me a bit too much of Ellen from the OG show.

I thought I would check back in and watch and see if anything improved, and…it didn’t for me. I was just bored with the story, and there was just nothing really happening. Where’s the humor? The chemistry is still pretty lacking, especially with Meg and her flat line readings, and Mary being able to kill that many vamps in one episode was a bit unbelievable. I understand there’s only been 9 episodes, but there haven’t really been any memorable people in peril, and John’s cop ex and the guy she was talking to at the end are pretty bland actors, too. I will say out of the core four, Drake is probably the best actor, plus he’s easy on the eyes to me, so that helps.

I’m starting to wonder if people would actually watch this show without the involvement of Dean. Almost all the discourse surrounding this episode has been about Dean’s birthday, the photo, what is his magical mystery mission, stuff like that. Who is this show really about, anyway? And what does it say about the show when there seems to be more conversation about a character who shows up for two minutes here and there than the six main cast members?
-
I’ve also had to laugh at Twitter posts going on about Beau and Jenny as if they are the One True Pairing on the show. I’m like, what??? Do I think they have chemistry? Sure. Would I have liked to see a kiss? Yes. But acting like they could be some epic-level couple with all the others in television history is a bit delusional to me.

It was an okay season finale by broadcast network drama standards. And there were THREE people writing this thing. I didn’t really like it or dislike it, but I am glad the season’s over, even if was shorter than usual. I thought there were more commercial breaks than usual, but maybe that was just me. This show has always had elements of ridiculousness, but what the hell was up with Buck being so hard to take down? He couldn’t be knocked out even once? Beau was fine, but even though he sold the distraught father stuff, I still didn’t feel much when he reunited with Emily. Maybe it’s because they didn’t have many scenes together and I didn’t quite buy the actress. I am hoping Jensen is moving on, though, and Beau won’t be stopping by to visit anytime soon. I have a feeling if there is another season, it’ll be a final 13 episodes airing next year. While I’m sure Jensen enjoyed his time on the show, I thought he might post more about it on social media, but he rarely posts about anything anyway.

I actually thought the episode was ok, minus the scenes involving Jenny and her mom. I have seen some comments on Twitter calling Carla and Emily toxic because they were bringing up the incident involving Beau’s partner, which I think is a bit ridiculous and silly. While I think both characters are annoying at times, I would not use the term “toxic.” If they would have dropped some of the dumber small cases, they would have had time to spend on all of the characters’ development.
