  1. The whole JC character might have been funny if they had just done it once and moved on; but a second one, and so soon after, was just kinda pushing it.

And yeah, we get it, Molly's not a lesbian. Stop with the jokes of her getting hit on.

  2.

My least-favorite episodes are any episodes involving Cousing Gerri.  (I thought Gerri Jewell was passable, but the show itslef tended to make these "Very Special" episodes, each with a cloying moral message.)

Oh lord, me too! For one thing, I could scarcely understand the actress when she spoke (I know that's not her fault, of course, but it is what it is...) and for another thing, I didn't think ANY of her jokes were funny! Yet everyone, especially Mrs. Garrett, would screech like a seal whenever she said anything at all...

  3. I always enjoyed the character overall - he was funny, and a lot smarter than people usually gave him credit for. However, you also had to feel bad for him a lot, because he was typically That Guy - the one who never got the girl (remember, he put himself right out there practically from Day 1 in regard to Lindsay, and she was pretty much like no way), never as effective as he wanted to be in court, etc.

As a person who deeply enjoys backstories, I would've loved to have known more about his and bobby's childhoods...

  4. On the April 30 TVLine - http://tvline.com/2014/04/30/hart-of-dixie-season-4-renewal-the-cw-ask-ausiello/ - it also says

A blast from Lindsay’s past (played by The Lost Boys’ Billy Wirth) shows up in the May 7 episode to uncover a bit of the detective’s troubled history. “Everybody wants answers as to where she comes from. How dark was her past? What did she go through? What did she see?” previews her portrayer Sophia Bush. “The person who shows up will give the audience a little information about where she comes from. It throws her in a way that we’ve never seen her thrown before.” The aftereffects will reverberate through the May 21 season finale, in which Lindsay has to “confront her past, not just sweep it under the rug, but do the right thing. Past Lindsay and Present Lindsay really have to learn how to coexist in the finale. She gets tested.”

I have never heard of Billy Wirth, so I just Googled him now...http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0936198/  Apparently he is 51 years old, putting him of the age to perhaps be Erin's father?

  5. Please, oh please, don't let the news be that Wendy is pregnant! How soap-ish could they GET?? But given some of the stuff that Chicago Fire has pulled over the past year or so, I definitely wouldn't rule it out...

  6. Don't forget, aside from everything awful that had happened that day, Severide would have had to go home to an empty apartment, as his roommate was still in the hospital...imagine the lonely echoing silence when you're used to having someone around, and they aren't, and you're just alone with your own thoughts. Is it any wonder he went to Erin?

when Katie was abducted Severide came to Erin's apartment that night, saying he "didn't know where else to go."

You know, it didn't occur to me til just now that that little snipped indicated that Severide had been to Erin's home before...he clearly knew where it was, and she didn't seem surprised to see him at the door, much like the time when Voight came over and we discovered Jay sitting quite comfortably in Erin's living room.

On another note...I wondered the other day if perhaps Ruzek's big display of affection for Burgess at the hospital hurt her chances of joining Intelligence? He essentially hung out a huge banner shouting WE HAVE A PERSONAL CONNECTION, and considering how badly Voight reacted to the possibility of a personal relationship between Lindsay and Halstead -- who were already both in his unit -- I can't imagine how he wouldn't hesitate to bring IN a person that might cause complications, y'know?

  7. Personally, I've got this little niggling thought at the back of my mind that something significant happened with Voight's wife...that she didn't just die of breast cancer or in a car accident or something. This is partially due to comments that have been made casually, such as when Voight was talking to Justin just before sending him to the Army recruitment place, and said something like "after all we went through with your mother." That really sent up a red flag to me.

  8. I'm a person who can never get enough backstory, so personally I'd love to have seen the beginning, when Intelligence started up...

We know that Voight handpicked his team. We know that Antonio was the one to push Jay forward to him. I'm sure there were others who wanted to get in there, just as Burgess and Atwater currently do. So despite Voight's constant picking on him, there had to be some solid qualities he admired in him.

Why, too, did Voight partner Jay with Erin?

  9.

Did Erin and Severide hook up sometime on Chicago PD?  Or is the backstory on Chicago Fire?  What exactly happened?  I can't remember seeing anything about it.  There was an episode several weeks ago where he showed up at her apartment and she sent him home saying she had to wake up early.

That was essentially the bulk of their relationship thus far. They've been shown as friendly, flirty; a few times, Erin's been at the firehouse (usually on official police business, though) and when Katie was abducted Severide came to Erin's apartment that night, saying he "didn't know where else to go."

Other than that, I don't know if we are to presume that more has happened, just off-camera, or this IS basically it.

  10. Random question...did they ever mention in any of the beginning episodes if the Voights had actually adopted Erin, or just had her live with them? As far as I can tell, it was just the latter, although I'm not quite sure how, especially if Junkie Mom and Jail Dad were still around. Did they agree - or maybe Voight finagled something - to get Erin into foster care, so they could get her that way?

Another possibility, however ugly, yet feasible in both Voight's world and the world that Erin seems to have grown up in, is that Voight might simply have paid Erin's mother to take her. As I think I've mentioned elsewhere on this forum, I really believe that given her childhood, Erin's mother might have sold her daughter any number of times to whoever seemed interested, anything to earn a few quick bucks for her habit. If so, then she might have been willing to get rid of her permanently for a few thousand, perhaps.

Anyways, I remember the episode where she and Voight went to dinner with Justin, and he made some comment about "when we took you in." That phrasing made me think that there wasn't any legal adoption, just her living with them.

  11. I wonder how much time is supposed to have passed between the explosion and tomorrow's episode? I would presume it's been longer than the week in our universe, because surely Gabby wouldn't be allowed to take that exam; even if she insisted she was fine, knowing what she'd just been through, I'd think TPTB would want to cover their own butts in case something happened to her while exerting herself.

Re: Casey and Antonio - My first thought is that it's wedding-related, but maybe it's something to do with Voight or the Intelligence Dept? Maybe he's helping Severide find out or do something for Lindsay? A girl can surely hope...

  12. Considering how creepy Dylan Baker is on The Good Wife, which I also watch, I'm amazed that I wasn't bothered by him here...

Although I've heard some rumors about the possibility of a Chicago Medical, the name truly makes me LOL. I mean, seriously, in a major city like Chicago, I would presume there are quite a few hospitals...what are the odds of having one named just "Chicago Medical"? I'm sure it would be St. Somebody's, more likely...

Re: head injuries - Maybe they've started some kind of club at 51? Don't forget, Shay also had a serious head injury last season; when she returned, they gag-gifted her that helmet, remember?

  13. Very interesting! I love Lindsay and have been waiting anxiously for more about her past ever since the tiny bits she gave Halstead the night of the reunion.

Who do you think it might be? Perhaps her dad or another family member? The way that Lindsay had originally phrased her parentage to Halstead was ambiguous, I seem to recall - something like "when your mom's a junkie and your dad's in prison, you find out who your real friends are real fast." It didn't really specify whether this was in the past or present, or for all we know, perhaps the situation has changed since high school. After all, it's been 14 years since Lindsay met Voight.

  14. I can't wait for this one! I adore Lindsay, and have long been waiting for more info about her past, ever since she told Halstead that little bit over dinner the night of the reunion.

Also, about time Jin got a storyline! Poor guy, he's just there to jump in with technical support...

  15. Things I liked:

I liked the instant bond between the two little girls. Although ultimately they didn't know one another long in this life, it was almost as though the universe had planned their meeting. I'm sure that Zoe will never forget the friend that made her life possible, once she is grown.

I also liked the ending with Severide and Lindsay. These are two very damaged people in general, but after a day like that, they both desperately needed comforting. I just hope they don't hurt one another in any way, because neither is much for relationships (as Voight said, Lindsay has been breaking hearts since she was 15). But who knows? Each may have finally found what they need.

    Things I didn't quite get:

    - Why Burgess couldn't get hold of her sister, brother-in-law OR her parents! At first I thought it was because of the mass chaos; as we've seen in real-life similar situations, often times people can't use their phones because lines are down, being overused by panicking people, etc. (like at the Boston Marathon). But it seems that everyone else was able to get through to anyone they wanted to call...for heaven's sake, Burgess had no trouble reaching her partner, or that doctor calling her parents about Imogene...

    - Why it took Chicago PD so long to get on scene. Maybe it just seemed like a long time, since I don't think they actually specified; but IMO Chicago fire had time to do an awful lot before Voight & co. even drove up. Aren't they all supposed to be headquartered within a couple blocks of one another?

    - I would've imagined Antonio Dawson would've been there WAY faster, considering his own sister was missing! Was he even told until he came on scene, and then caught up on her condition with Casey?

I was really confused as well.  I thought at first the parents must have been the the parents of Zoe.  I thought Imogen was the doctor's daughter.  It took me awhile to put it together.

Me too. And, for the purposes of this story, I don't understand why TPTB couldn't simply have made Imogene the doctor's daughter. It wouldn't have changed anything in the long run.

Can ANYONE possibly give me a quick recap of WHY I should be ok with these guys in the FD working with Voight in such a chummy manner after all he put them through?

As betsyboo said, apparently because he gets results. That was the sole reason he was released from prison, but he now has "higher ups" constantly monitoring him and threatening to send him back if he doesn't do what he wants and as quickly as they want it.

As for Erin -- if you're not a regular viewer of Chicago PD, you won't know that she was a street kid, born to a junkie (and insinuated to have had drug problems herself). She was arrested as a very young teen, with all kinds of charges like solicitation, assault, shoplifting, possession, etc. For some as-yet unknown reason, Voight took her under his wing. She spent about a year working with him as a confidential informant, giving him tips about drug dealers and crime in exchange for money/food. Then, when she was 16, Voight and his wife took her to live with them and their little boy Justin. It was because of the Voights that Erin finished high school (at a prestigious private school they had to pull strings to get her into), then apparently college and the police academy. It is for this reason that Erin is so unflaggingly loyal to Voight, who is essentially the only father she has ever had, and certainly the only adult to give a crap about her. Because she was (apparently) never legally adopted, she has a different last name than him, meaning that most people at the PD have no clue as to their true relationship, although of course many have speculated that they are unusually close, despite trying their hardest not to be in front of other people.

  16. I liked the way this week showed Severide and Lindsay...they are both such damaged people, but it's clear that they really care for one another and desperately needed comforting. I just hope neither hurts the other, as we have seen that Severide isn't much for relationships and according to Voight on Chicago PD, neither is Lindsay...

  17. I dunno...while I get that Shay wanted to do her part in the midst of such horror, despite her best intentions I truly don't think she would have been ABLE to. All that blood coming out of her midsection, causing her to repeatedly keep changing the gauze? I'm no doctor, but I think she would've keeled over long before that.

    Things I especially liked:

    - Casey and Severide's friendship - Whatever they've been through in the past, there is no doubt they solidly have one another's backs in thick and thin. If I'm not mistaken, Casey didn't even ASK Severide to come crawl through the rubble with him; he just WENT. How many friends do YOU have that would do that for your girlfriend, rescue worker or not?

    - The instant bond between the two little girls - Although ultimately they didn't know one another long in this life, it was almost as though the universe had planned their meeting.

Regarding the Chicago Medical spinoff rumors -- I don't know, but it certainly looks as though TPTB are keeping their options open. We have seen some of the same doctors repeatedly already, and they focused on a few main ones the other night too. It seems they are definitely introducing characters now.

  18. Ok, I'm no organ transplant expert, but isn't the liver one of those organs that can use a living donor? Meaning, if Burgess' niece needs a liver, can't Burgess donate a piece of her own to the child in the event of an emergency like this? Or can't they do it between adult and child?

  19. From http://www.fashionnstyle.com/articles/19077/20140429/chicago-pd-spoilers-sophia-bush-crossover-chicago-fire-romance.htm --

Her possible romance with Detective Jay Halstead seems to be at a standstill as he has a new love interest as well. "We put the kibosh on that. We see them both start exploring other options because the option of one another is not going to fly. But I don't think that means they care about each other any less."

Personally, I'd like to see Lindsay and Halstead develop a strong friendship first...kind of like Booth and Brennan on Bones or Castle and Beckett on Castle. Both couples were literally one another's best friends before starting anything romantic. I could see that happening here too.

  20. What do you all think of the newly blossoming relationship with Lindsay? Is there any real chance of anything much here? Or will it just be another Severide Fling?

At least in Lindsay's case, she is a main character on the show that often crosses over with this one, so it's not just she can just randomly disappear the way that Severide's other lady friends have...

  21. “[Dick Wolf] said it was one of the best season finales he’s ever heard [pitched] … [There will be a health scare along with] a big call and characters might be in danger … We’re going out of this season with major jeopardy for the house.”

    http://cartermatt.com/117907/chicago-fire-season-2-finale-spoilers-boss-teases-danger-wedding/

Who do you think the health scare will involve? IMO having it be Casey would be too obvious; they would not be talking about it like a teaser if it were.

  22. I happened to read an article about Jason Beghe, who plays Voigt, and it talked specifically about his growly raspy voice, which has essentially been the thing that landed him a lot of roles. It's rather unusual-sounding, but I just figured it was one of those things, y'know?

However, it mentions here that the voice is the result of a car accident he was in back in '99, where he had a tube in his throat, which - for some reason - he kept trying to pull out.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/tv-movies/jason-beghe-tough-break-led-memorable-voice-article-1.1765027

  23. I hated where they took Bobby and Lindsay's relationship! Presumably they broke them up after half the main actors didn't come back in the end, but seriously, why take a good thing and ruin it? Bobby and Lindsay were great for each other. They could be fierce, drive each other to succeed, but also very playful and supportive. They had a baby and essentially formed the family unit both seemed to crave so much. Why take that away??
