I thought he and Kyle were bonding pretty well, in mutual Mr. Magoo fashion.

As much as we call out the houseguests, I think we also need to check ourselves in our unconscious biases. Kyle is like Rachel Leigh Cook in She's All That -- put a hot person in glasses and suddenly we're under the impression this person is a nerd. Kyle is very outgoing, sociable and he twerks shirtless on TikTok, which has allowed him to amass half a million followers. Maybe we're all thrown because BB hasn't cast his type before? Anyway, Kyle is definitely not the geek type. He has more in common with the bros than with someone like Michael.

Yowza this thread is practically dead. It's like final weeks levels of slow. How boring are these hamsters?

I'ma just steal this from Reddit and drop it here because this really is the perfect summation:

This cast is giving forced interaction at a corporate offsite vibes

  3. Was season 23 that popular or was this their low effort way of satisfying the 50% BIPOC mandate instituted by CBS? (yes, I can be quite cynical.) And Derex's photo is high-larious. It's like they tossed a black bag over his head, threw him into the back of a van and then released him in front of a camera. Blink twice, Derex, if you are there of your own volition.

Cameron from Real World: San Diego gave an interview to one of those gossip rags that she was invited for this season but couldn't commit to being away for six weeks. Like WTH? I thought the idea was to  condense the time they filmed this show in order to get the older contestants who couldn't do the flagship show due to work/family commitments. CBSViacom or GlobalParamount or whatever they're calling themselves these days managed to fuck this up in 3 short seasons. I agree with y'all, though, at least we have the first season! Of course I bitch but I'll keep watching.

  5. "Exploit our hard work"-- is this chick for real? Oh yes, Snooki, excessively drinking and indiscriminately banging every night must've been a real toil for the cast. And I thought the bitches on Teen Mom were entitled and out of touch.

  6. I plan to catch up soon but MTV has announced they have renewed the show for another season and their blurb has me confused:

    · Siesta Key - As life in Siesta Key gives way to high energy in multicultural Miami, we see our cast grow up and greet their adult lives, and the pressures that come with it. Once big fish in a small pond, we'll watch these young adults as they become much smaller fish in a far larger pond. New career pressures and aggressive competition will test our cast - and their friendships - in ways they can't imagine.

Like, is this show taking on a Jersey Shore format? How are they just uprooting the whole cast to a new city like it's just normal?

“They will navigate realities of race, class, identity, addiction, family drama along with the thrills of romance and becoming self-made amidst the exclusive enclave of the hills in Malibu.”

I hate to throw out the word "woke" because I feel it has been co-opted as a dog whistle by bigoted assholes but it would seem to fit. The original series was largely successful because each episode was a frothy, easily digestible 20 minutes in which we got to watch vapid, pretty twenty-somethings whose biggest concern was whether that night of revelry would take place at Les Deux or .. okay, apparently Les Deux was the only Hollywood hotspot because we never saw the cast carouse anywhere else. Point is, MTV needs to get it together because this ain't it.

Morgan hasn't filmed a reality show in three years and has been clear that it's by choice. She has said that MTV reality shows gave her a lot of anxiety and that she really struggled with it after participating. Spoiler accounts have confirmed that she has been asked and has declined. If you follow her (I love her workouts), you know that she loved and supported him, she thought they were going to get married, he cheated, she found out, she left and was heartbroken, and she is now seeing by his behavior in handling their breakup that she was wrong about who he is as a person which I'm sure is also a heartbreak, just a different kind.

And didn't Johnny basically make it a condition of their relationship that she is not to participate in reality tv? That totally doesn't sound controlling. 🙄

Neither does anything for me, especially with their shit personalities lol. And with X's misshapen head and Ky's terrifying serial killer smile, it's a no from me.

Misshapen.. yes! He got a peanut head lol. But I like Kyland's smile-- it reaches his eyes. Maybe that says something about me 😬🤔

Can you blame her? X is so damn touchable 😉

Am I the only one who is immune to X's appeal? He reminds me of a skull-- all bald head and teeth. Give me Kyland with his puppy dog eyes. 😍

  12. The final season of Dear White People totally lampooned this show, which was fun because the writers clearly watch this shitshow. The funniest part was the fake host adding Weinstein and then Polanski to her name as she signed off.

-Back from commercial break and a shot at Alyssa morosely sitting to the side as she just dropped out SECOND in the competition-

If that doesn't perfectly encapsulate this dull af season lol

  14. The discourse going on here is reminding me of those buffoons who organized a straight pride parade, because in their feeble minds, gay pride is somehow discriminatory.. HA! Or, in another instance, I've actually heard several arguments on how BET should not exist because there is no such thing as WET. I'm not black but I have no problem with the cookout because I get how it is to want to advance and empower your particular disenfranchised group. I'm totally ambivalent about the cookout, and therefore do not feel equipped to articulate my points properly, but I appreciate the discussion. Thank you all!

  15. So, who's enjoying the kindler, gentler Love & Hip Hop? Me no gusta! I miss the ratchetness lol. Plus, this season seems so disjointed. I forgot Spice was even still part of the cast until they featured her last night. And that rapper with the boyfriend in jail with two kids livin with her mom somewhere else.. what is her connection to ATL? I ain't feelin this. I might have to break up with this show, which is a shame because it filled the void of delicious trashy goodness that Flavor of Love left.
