About Sunny though, in a way I thought she was being judgmental

Sunny is judgmental. Even when she doesn't actually say it you can see it in her expressions.

She thinks very highly of herself.  And she should. She has accomplished a lot. But she also looks down on other people.  Not everyone lives their lives the way Sunny does and I do think she thinks less of them.  JMO.

Megan is the absolute worst and the fact that she is taking advantage of this situation to slam Whoopie and the other ladies by extension while elevating herself and clothing herself in victimhood is maddening.

I know that because I've seen the same people come out of the woodwork whenever Joy is in trouble over something, for example. They don't care about the event itself or whether they're really wrong or not, they hated them already. They'd be fine with a well-known leftwing figure being taken out by any means necessary.

Let's not forget this is happening to Whoopi because a school decided to ban some books.  If not for that they would not have been discussing that particular book and the Holocaust.  So Whoopi being suspended just made a lot of people happy.  For them this is just a cherry on top of them banning books.

  4. The Deja Malik story might be more believable to me if Malik didn't look like he was 12.  It really takes me out of the story. And since it's a story I'm not enjoying it makes me really not care about it.

How many episodes are left?  Because it seems like we have a lot of ground to cover and they haven't moved the stories too much.

but it's sad to see the recent litany of embarrassing moments

What litany is she talking about?  Other than this thing with Whoopi I don't think there has been anything embarrassing.  Sure they talk over one another but that isn't embarrassing. That is normal for the View.

It could have been a discussion that got to the bottom of a lot of what we've seen between them.  Not solved it necessarily, but as it's coming to the end of the series, it would have been illuminating on a subject that hasn't been explored very much - that they had clashes, but no real exploration of why.

Oh I think we know why.  Kate wishes Jack was there rather than Rebecca.

    26 minutes ago, CountryGirl said:

It was extremely heat of the moment and an adult Kate was also being very verbally abusive to her mother in the lead up to that exchange. We have seen zero evidence of Rebecca ever doing that before or after so I am not willing to call her an abuser for one incident where, clearly emotional and still very much in a state of grieving, she had a lapse in judgment, which she immediately acknowledged and apologized for and took to heart by never, ever repeating it with Kate or anyone else.

Totally agree.  Kate was not a child.  It's not like Rebecca smacked a six year old.

  7. There is so much shady at best and corrupt at worst things that happen in the NFL.

It's interesting some people are now willing to talk about it.

Literally out of nowhere, she decides she's madly in love with him and is suddenly all swoony and gaga. It just came across like the writers just wanting to quickly wrap up her story for the end of the show.

I'm on the record as saying I never bought into Miranda suddenly realizing Steve was the right man for her.  If not for Brady they never would have gotten married.  And it would have been realistic after him cheating on her in the first movie for her to say I forgive you but I think we should move on from each other. But the writers had her realize once again Steve is who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

Fast forward to now and the writers are telling us eh you know what?  Miranda was never happy with Steve.  What viewers saw doesn't exist anymore.  Miranda needs liberated and Che is just the persons to do it.

I think I might be a little more forgiving of the writers if some of them weren't the same writers who wrote the original Miranda and Steve story.

    13 hours ago, Dr.OO7 said:

And even though Steve isn't a bad guy, per se, I wish people would stop deifying him--he basically stalked and harassed Miranda after their one-night-stand and refused to take "No, I don't want a relationship with you" for an answer (as always, TV portrayed this as "cute" and "sweet") and I felt like he always trying to force her to relax and have fun rather than let it happen naturally.

I am not a Steve fan. Never have been.  But in this story I am on his side.  Although I would have more respect for him if he let Miranda go.  Steve honey she just ain't worth it.

Meghan McCain really went after Whoopi in this -- at least in the parts where she wasn't talking about herself (Meghan is Meghan's favorite subject, after all).

I'm linking to an archive of the article, mostly so if it goes away, people will still be able to see it, but also so that she gets fewer hits on it. 😉

    https://web.archive.org/web/20220202051231/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10465411/MEGHAN-MCCAIN-Whoopis-half-assed-apology-antisemitism-shows-double-standards-liberals.html

    From the article:

The show doesn't define me like it has so many other people who have worked there over the years, and I have found liberation and satisfaction in my career working here at DailyMail.com.

Most people wouldn't know who she was if not for the View.  And she gets satisfaction working at the Daily Mail?  All I can say is water meets it's own level.

    Also from the article:

I am not calling for Whoopi Goldberg to be fired, if only because I don't believe there is any universe where she could possibly do anything that could get her fired – she is the crown jewel of The View and a pop culture icon.

I don't think anyone other than Whoopi thinks she is the crown jewel of the View.

In my opinion it was an overreaction, especially 2 weeks!  She apologized, they had a good discussion on the show, they should move on.  At worst let her sit out the rest of the week.  2 weeks seems excessive for a statement that wasn't meant to be anti Jewish.

Meanwhile people who are anti-Semitic not only keep their jobs but those jobs are in positions of authority.

I think it highlights the fact she is not suited for the job.  To me, she looks like she just shows up each day wanders onto the set and sits her ass in the chair, woefully unprepared, yet still thinks she can wing it.  And this is the result.

This is absolutely true.  Maybe they are using this as a way of letting her go with cause so they don't have to pay out her contract.

Hugs, ifionly. That must be hard. Hope the new baby brings everyone joy.

Thank you @Haleth.  Her mother had a recurrence of lymphoma and was undergoing chemo when she got Covid.  Things went downhill from there. She was put on a ventilator and two weeks later was determined to be brain dead.  Thankfully her family was with her when she passed.  It's really rattled me because she was a year younger than me and we share a grandchild.  This whole thing has made me realize enjoy all the good things that come your way because you never know when the bad things will happen.

  12.   There was so much drama with the planned party.  Her family wasn't going to come because her mom was in the hospital and they thought it inappropriate to have the party at that time.  And I agreed with that but it wasn't my decision. Unfortunately her mother died a few days after the scheduled party.  This has been a rough time but hopefully the baby will help us all get through all the sadness

And I agree with Tara.  Pregnancy announcements (along with gender reveals, proposals, engagement announcements, first day of school pics, etc) have all gotten out of control (and don't even get me started on "prom-posals").  Keep it simple, people.

My son and his wife are expecting their first baby together.   She was dead set on having a gender reveal party last month despite the pandemic.  She only relented in canceling it when the venue suggested they do so.  They immediately did a FB live for the reveal.  So that is how I found out I'm going to be the grandmother of a baby girl who's name will be Caylee Rose.  Whatever happened to just telling your friends and family?

I prefer seeing something different every-so-often, and yes, that includes my own team.

I agree with you.  The playoff games this year showed how exciting it is when either team no matter if they are favored can win or lose.  I was a kid in the 70s when the Steelers won four SBs.  I don't remember much about that except getting glasses at McDonalds with three Steelers on them.   I'm sure other team's fans hated us.  Much the same way I hated the Patriots.   Not sure any team will be able to duplicate what the previous teams have done winning multiple SBs in a short period of time.   And that I think is good for all football fans.  Gives hope to any team's fans.  Well almost any team.

Prior to the premiere John Corbett teased that he thought he would be in "quite a few" episodes, but that may have been a fake-out PR move to get viewers excited, although it's annoying if he deliberately lied about it.

I'm not entirely sure we won't see him in the finale.   It would just be like this show to have Carrie see  him somewhere and have that be the end of the episode.   One thing they better not do (I can't remember which poster originally said this) is have Carrie leave Paris for London.  Letting us believe she is going to see Samantha.  If we can't have Kim Cattrall then Carrie doesn't get Samantha.

I agree with that sentiment.  Somebody tweeted something like "The show is good and you all just hate everything".  I made a list of 27 - yes, 27 - of my favourite shows last year.  So no, I pretty much like EVERYTHING.  I hate this.

Yeah for me to hate this means it's beyond bad.   I put up with a lot from shows I watch.  And I never take it personally. I always think well just because I don't like it doesn't mean other people don't.  I mean I even liked all three seasons of the Dallas reboot. And the Murphy Brown reboot. And the Will & Grace reboot.  And the Veronica Mars reboot (until the last five minutes).  But AJLT didn't want to continue the stories from SATC. They wanted to use the characters to tell these new stories that bear little resemblance to any story that would have been told for those characters.

And because I can't say it enough, Cynthia Nixon I understand you are happy with who you are and you have found love with your wife but you did not need to have Miranda morph into you.  Next time write a book.

  18. Got to be honest.  I disliked him a lot less once he left New England.   Probably because he was out of the Steelers conference and we wouldn't have to play against him anymore unless we went to a Super Bowl.

He was one hell of a QB.  And for that I have to say see you in Canton.

Does anyone really think she doesn't support Jewish people?  It's more like her mouth got ahead of her brain and her need to be the ultimate authority on every subject bit her in the butt.

No Whoopi wasn't being intentionally offensive.  She thought she was saying something really insightful and wouldn't let her cohosts deter her from making the point she was making.  I think the word for that is hubris.

Not a Whoopi fan at all these days. Still, I don't think this misunderstanding is nearly as bad as the Cosby thing. I don't think she was deliberately intending to cause harm the way she did there. I can understand how she made the lapse of thinking of the hatred of Jews as being based on religion alone, but it was a combo of both that and believing they were genetically inferior for the Nazis.

In addition to the Cosby thing there was the Michael Vick thing.  And the Roman Polanski thing.  Whoopi thinks what she thinks is the correct way to think about something.  My prediction is she will be defensive today.  Like she knew what she meant and it's everyone else who didn't understand.
