    Season 3 trailer is here.

I don't like that they gave Sheila a rival and it seems that that will be a big focus through the final season. What set this show apart was Sheila's self-hateful inner monoluge and there is none of that in here. It's so weird when a show writer doesn't understand what made their own show good

  2. Wow, what a finale. Watching it, I totally buy that they wanted to wrap the series here, HR complaints notwithstanding. It was really nice to see that Cary finally got the character development (and humbling experiences) he needed, and that he found a new group to connect with in the end, but now he will be able to be a better friend and be there for people more. And his career is also on track. I also liked the scene when he cried after he realized how insensitive he has been to MacKenzie, they played that so well.

Lucas being married all along was super shocking.

Brooke's storyline was really cool. And I LOVED her last line! The show has been going on and on about "doing good" and "being good" the whole season and it sounded so inane, but in that last scene, it just worked and made so much sense. Her talk with Lance where he opened up to her about his job was also very well-written.

Overall this show has been amazing and they really stuck the landing with this finale. I look forward to seeing the writer duo's upcoming project.

  3. I can see that, Thor has a rough exterior but he is actually quite kind from time to time. And this is in line with Robyn (the character Thor is based on from the original series) where  he is often portrayed as surprisingly intelligent considering the simple times he lived in.

  4. This show's take on Brokeback Mountain / those scenes between Cary and his boyfriend were weirdly fascinating. So raw.

The kid saying "yes, yes rescue me daddy!!!" to Lance while he carried him out was so funny 😆

I'm very curious to see how they wrap it up next week.

  5. Some interesting insight from the actor playing Curtis about the conflict he had with Carey this season. It seems their friendship is over.

    Quote

From my perspective as Curtis, I was happy to see him really lay into Cary a little bit. There was definitely a catharsis in that. Chris and Sarah and the writers were targeting this idea of you want me to do well just not better than you, and that’s somehow just as bad as wishing me worse. I was happy that he stood up for himself because I think it’s something that needed to be said. Curtis holds his found family of friends very, very dear to him. Anytime that love that he has for other people isn’t reciprocated, or when the concept of let’s love and support each other is violated, it’s a real problem. I was really happy that he was able to put things in perspective for Cary, but it was also sad because it’s the end of a really meaningful friendship.

The whole interview is very good

With just 2 episodes left in the season, I wonder where they are taking these stories.

With Pat, she will get back together with Streeter, that much has been obvious since the first second of their break-up. And it seems she will still want to be "normal", because in the S3 trailer there are still scenes that we did not see, it seems that there will be a scene where Cary, Pat and Brooke go back to their Ohio days The logical conclusion for Pat would be to just accept her new normal and make the best of it, but we'll see.

With Brooke, once again it has been obvious that she and Lance will get back together, and the scene at 1:38 is their reunion I guess, so Brooke will probably have some big realization about "doing good" and the value of what she does for work and maybe even learns to show up for Lance in the way he asked her to, and then they will be together again.

With Carey, we have the least clues. In the latest episode he realized that he can achieve his goals, and still be unhappy, and he is mad about that. The answer would be to find fulfillment through human connection (what the show also tried to imply through showing friendship as an important thing), or to find happiness within with who he is as a person, more self-acceptance, because right now he looks for a lot of external validation and as soon as he doesn't get it he feels bad. A big part of this is also that his relationship with the method acting guy is very one-sided.

I've been reading that there is a good chance we are not getting a season 4, so I want them to give satisfying conclusions to these storylines.

Yes, I know Colin came out. But in my post, I was specifically calling out the fact that the show CUT AWAY from the actual moment Colin came out to his teammates. We did not see him say the words, or the immediate team response.

I hate this. Just my 2 cents.

    Meanwhile:

Just a note that Brendan Hunt's Reddit Q&A totally supports that the entire season was a series of wild Hail Marys.

He brushes off Ted not being at Beard's wedding, says he and Ted don't see each other for years, makes jokes about them not researching therapists dating patients (!!) (much less that he was MICHELLE'S THERAPIST FIRST!), and when confronted about the Roy/Keeley disaster just says (paraphrased) "men are dumb" or something. He just comes off as totally checked out.

Fuck that, to paraphrase Ted himself (since the show is now using this language throughout season 3). It's BS and shoddy writing and research. They wanted a fast-track way to villainize Michelle again, that's all. Nobody even bothered to fucking Google it (they say 18 months is okay to date patients, turns out, NOT SO MUCH). I mean, seriously. It's embarrassing.

I hated it. And his answer infuriated me here, and made me lose a lot of respect.

Let's also ignore the fact that Ted's marriage counselor was also his wife's therapist, who may have actually set the entire show in motion -- encouraging Michelle to get marriage counseling (with HIM, unethically), then encouraging her and Ted to split, encouraging Ted to leave, Ted leaves, and boom, goes to England.

It's all super gross. I don't think that was what Brendan or Jason intended but -- well, that's what we have with season 3. His comments make it feel very "oh well why not" (and he doesn't answer the main question):

I'm kind of more depressed from Brendan's answers. It's like they just didn't care. Seriously.

Anyway, I loved the show, it's over, I'm honestly glad, after this season.

Also, the Reddit AMA was so damn depressing. Sometimes it's not good to look behind the scenes. Brendan Hunt, so wonderful as Beard, and in certain episodes as writer, came off like the world's tooliest tool.

Hahaha. This is such a slap in the face for all of the fanboys defending the (obviously awful) writing over the past 10 weeks. They kept saying oh just wait for it, be like a goldfish, believe, it will all make sense in the end.

Well it doesn't. And I agree with the other poster, it's extremely stupid that a lot of the key events happened off screen. Like Nate quitting. Come on, we should have seen that! And Ruperts reaction to it. Or when he was served the other round of divorce papers.

  8. Glad that have some progress and see Carly has feelings for Freddie. A reverse from the original show. That pearl axe throw! Hopefully we see progress in their relationship by mid season.

The opening scenes with Brooke complaining about Lance to everyone were hilarious 😂. But also kinda weird, like imagine being so in the wrong and trying to frame Lance as the bad guy.

I was surprised Cary's boyfriend did not make an appeareance this episode.

    Season 2 Episode 2

Great episode.  I thought I had lost interest because of the long delay with season 2 but it pulled me right back in. (Unfortunately, I forgot it started last week so I missed episode 1).

Glad Abby's family is working towards getting back together.

The client of the week was very likeable and her case was very touching.  Loved the fan girls greeting her at school.

Make sure you watch episode one because the scene where Frank goes to see Abby in her office is one of the series' very best. Abby's emotions in that scene are so intense!

I honestly have no idea. But as a teacher in Australia, I heard no buzz today about The Little Mermaid from my students, so perhaps it's true that it is flopping internationally. My TikTok feed would indicate its doing big business hence my question of Is It? cause maybe Disney is paying for MermaidTok to be pushed out to drum up business.

Here's some further reading from box-office obsessed people if you don't believe me:

In conclusion: yes, it is flopping. We will know for sure after next weekend when we see the drop % (how much it did in the second week compared to the first one), which is what box office experts use to make even more accurate predictions.

Is it? I did a quick google of 'Is The Little Mermaid flopping?' and while reports about it struggling at China's box office pop up, there are also other reports saying it's the best opening for a live action adaptation by Disney at the US box office.

Emphasis on "at the US". It's doing well in the US and flopping internationally.

  13. It's not cool how they changed the lyrics of Ursula's song and in return gave Scuttle an absolutely awful one. Lin Manuel Miranda has to be stopped! Anyway, the movie is showing early signs of flopping and not breaking even unless something unexpected happens, so I am curious to see where they are taking it from here.
