  1. While I am sad to see it go, I can understand it. The show clearly doesn't know where to go. It focused so much on the sock factory and the establishment of a new factory while no one who watches the show really cares about these things, and they did not make these storylines too much fun.

This coupled with giving Goodwin a huge amount of screen time for some mysterious reason caused a huge dip in quality. Meanwhile actually fun characters like Kemi, Olu and Tunde were phased out more and more. While the show eventually figured out how to use Ebun, making her a series regular was a colossal mistake as well. Just horrible decisions all around.

My one wish is that they nail the ending. Bob and Abishola deserve that much.

when Nan and Theo dipped their fingers in the light blue oil paint and smeared it on each others' faces, thought they were going to die prematurely of cobalt and lead poisoning?

The lighting and cinematography is worth the watching.

I read the reviews comparing it more favorably to Bridgerton, and I agree.
Less porn and more psycho-social stuff.

    Does it give Bridgerton vibes?

  3. Too much focus on Hawk when he's the least interesting character, I found myself getting bored during his parts, especially when he's with Senator Smith. It's like they thought they had the flesh him out more because he's not in the book and they went too far in the other direction.

  4. The show was made with a lot of care: The light,  the costumes, the camera work, the score. Like if the final scene wasn't heartbreaking enough, the music in the background made it that much more emotional.

But I don't know if I want to watch a sad show like that.

  5. S5EP4: A little tedious episode, but I was happy that they managed to make a business deal with the french woman in the end. I continue to be impressed by how smart Robin is, good on him for learning a whole other language just by listening to others speak.

S5EP5: Wow, the captain's death scene was really emotional but also the way he went out was so tragic. He got a heart attack from the stress of that situation? That seems a bit much, but it is what it is. I like that the show finally tackled the idea of these ghosts moving on at some point, although in a very surface level way. And I don't get that, they knew this was the final season. The ghosts could have started resolving their inner traumas and hangups which probably allow them to move onto the next phase of existence. And each episode could have been focused on 1-2 different ghosts dealing with their issues and finding relief, then moving on. Now that would be an interesting final season. But the show just continues to focus upon the ghosts hanging out as a family unit and not even trying to understand the mysteries of their condition.

S5EP6: I was surprised when Pete started to insult Robin's intelligence because that is the one thing he always did have. I was also surprised with them making a series finale like this. I was left with a feeling of...that was it? A fake breakup and a contest over the affections of a woman neither contestant has a chance with are not particularly special or hard-hitting storylines for a series finale. Even the 5th episode was more inventive than that! This felt just like any other episode, not a grand finale. Are they planning to do a big goodbye with the christmas episode, is that why this was so average? Very weird.

  6. S5EP1: I thought this was a really good concept for an episode. The way the ghosts got Alison in the beginning was really good, but also a great start for the season. I particularly enjoyed her prank on Thomas. With the background music and the use of warmer tones for the cinematography, they set such a good mood that was very appropriate for the occasion. And I loved the inspectors line about only real life being that absurd because well yeah, real life is often more wild than the things we can come up with. Finally, the pregnancy announcement took me by surprise. I did not expect the show to go there, but good for them! I am curious to see how this show will handle that storyline.

S5EP2: The whole south vs north debate wasn't really clear to me, but I guess it's one of those things that only UK people understand. I liked how poetic Frannie was and her realization about home by the end of the episode, even giving her blessing! I'm curious to see what else happens.

  7. EP7: Through watching these episodes I kept thinking that they should just have a stun gun. They could shoot Mary when she turns into a wolf and then a whole lot of this destruction and dangerous situations could be tempered, like when Gary had to enter the room while Mary was a wolf.

Overall season thoughts: Well, it was good and I was entertained, although out of 7 episodes, Gary was a colossal jerk to random strangers in at least 5 episodes, which I did not like, even in the final episode he just stole the ambulance and they drove through so many restricted areas. After a while it's just not cool.

On another hand, I don't know how much life the show can have in it's current format. It is a good and engaging story, but it doesn't seem to be booming in popularity and I get why, releasing just 7 episodes per year makes it hard to bond with the characters or really care about them, and there is a lot of potential in the show's concept, it could easily go for at least 13-15 episodes per season, maybe even with a weekly airing format, I think it would work for this one. I will be surprised if it is renewed for season 3, but also if it is, I am sure that will be the final one because the available content is just very minimal.

  8. EP4: I don't really remember what Gary does for work. We see he has some sort of corporate job where he is mean to his co-workers, but I was surprised when he could pay out 25 000 for a door just like that, no thoughts about it. Guess he is very rich. I am not happy about Anton showing up, it is so typical and stupid how he is here to represent a different philosophical approach about accepting and celebrating your wolf self. And of course they had to make Mary cheat on Gary with him, but it's okay because they did it as wolves...come on now. Wasn't there any other storyline they could have thought of? Stupid. And clichée!!

EP5: Well, I liked that Mary told Anton to leave and leave her alone. Hopefully that is the end of this (stupid) storyline. There is enough drama in the show without including a love triangle. It was funny when Gary thought the homeless guy had some deep insight! Poor thing. I did like how he held his own when Anton tried to insult him. The scene was a little cringe, but overall I am rooting for our public safety hazard guy. And the end scene when he and Mary came back together, presumably stronger than ever was so sweet. I hope they can move on from this incident.

  9. EP1: Well, the show certainly does a good job of conveying the suspense / worry the parents feel about how their child will turn out. And that really is the main focus at this point. I really liked how Mary handled the situation in the principal's office and how she put that rich lady in her place. That was very cool.

EP2: When the episode opened with a white rabbit, I already knew that by the end of the episode, he was gonna be a goner. The show did a great job of building the suspense with Gary stuck in the house, even though realistically, with him being the main character of the show I knew no real harm was going to come to him in EP2  of the new season.

  10. I'm rewatching this little gem of a show and ugh, the scene where Nell reveals her miscarriage is so good! The more I re-watch the more I notice what a great job the actress did, putting these emotions in just the right words. It really makes me feel things.

  11. Well, the they are already sowing the seeds of jealousy Veg will feel, he noticed that Lisa was sharing her joy with Danny, not him.

I thought the bahtroom repairman's storyline was really funny and also cute with that small-stake marital debate. The best plotline of the series so far.
