But was MSNBC ever meant to be round-the-clock news as CNN initially was? I remember CNN in its early days as being all news all day long (no talk shows) but that has certainly changed.

Here's the thing with MSNBC. After many years it seems they decided the best way to compete is not to be in the same lane as CNN. Ratings wise it works they pretty much bury CNN.

But they also focus almost exclusively on politics

Couldn't agree more that CNN is the place for breaking news. At this point, I'm pretty sure MSNBC views its all-Trump-all-the-time slant as a feature, not a bug. I'm sure the TPTB over there have long concluded there's no way they can beat CNN at its own game.

ITA.  MSNBC has gotten so politics focused that when the Maui fires were the top story Morning Joe opened their show with Trump's legal woes chasing me back to CNN which I hadn't watched since the overhaul many months ago

You guys should check out Mika's IG ( you don't have to follow her to look at first page of photos). She has either had a ton of work done, again, or finally figured out how to Kardashian the hell out of her face with the filters.

She also wears a full face of make up while jogging in the morning.

So much for not caring about getting older, huh Meeks?

Wait.  Mika has a Maine cat (apparently not allowed to use it's proper name)  ❤️ I have a new respect for her

Joe really does not have to come to work. They could just clip together parts of old shows. He just repeats and repeats ad nauseum. All you would notice is his tie would change.

If you think Monday thru Friday is bad have you ever tuned into Weekend Joe? 😂

  5. As much as I appreciate the interview with Monique Worrell I'm disappointed in her. I'm also disappointed that neither Joe or Mika did their homework. I know big surprise.

Last year DeSantis fired Andrew Warren the Democrat state attorney who was elected in 2017. Warren sued. He won but the judge said there was nothing he could do.

I'm speaking as a FL voter but I don't live in Warren's or Worrell's district. A big thing missing here is talking to the voters in those districts.

Yeah Mika you had to throw out you know your whatever stuff. But you guys need to cover the whole story

You missed it. It was on before Lawrence O'Donnell. A couple of hours earlier near the end of Chris Hayes show they covered the vote in Ohio. I didn't watch the next hour with Alex Wagner so I don't know how much time was spent on it but she mentioned in her lead-in that she would be talking about it too.

Well this is confusing. I was quoting another poster. I posted that Chris Hayes reported that the AP had called the Ohio election around 7:50 central time. He also talked about the election going that way earlier but MSNBC was waiting for AP

  7. I don't watch CNN anymore but I agree that's really the go to network if you want to know what's going on in the world. I was sorry to read that Christine Romans left a couple of weeks ago.

I was watching Chris Hayes (7-8 CT) last night when he mentioned that the AP had called the Ohio election for the No's

Tonight CNN led the 10pm hour with the news about Ohio voters supporting abortion rights. Granted, they returned to Trump News pretty quickly. But they had live coverage of a little bit of the celebrations.  Unless I missed it, Lawrence O’Donnell did not mention it until 45 minutes in. Because rehashing what is happening on the Trump legal front is under-reported. I used to love Lawrence O; now he is kind of a smug, one-truck pony. I know, very unpopular opinion.

I love Lawrence too but gave up on him when he rambled on and on in 2015 how Trump had said this or that or done this or that and all this was from the man who will never be president.  Wonder how he feels about those things now

Watched for a short time and the topic was loneliness. I had to LOL at the hypocrisy and lack of self-awareness as the panel presented a roundtable discussion in the studio on the topic, often bringing up the isolation caused by people "living" on their phones and other technology...and then cut to the shot of Joe and Mika (apparently wrapped in a pink blanket) huddled together at their retreat in Maine! I mean REALLY!? And he was giving his ever so righteous speech about being together with the family, his dad going to work, yet still doing family things and going to church, etc. I dunno. These 2 somewhat epitomize the whole idea of disconnectedness. (if that's a word.)

They were discussing a new article in The Atlantic written by Hilary Clinton with Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg.

I thought it was so shallow being written by the woman who wrote It Takes a Village. In fairness they didn't read but a few paragraphs.

    (Balance of Nature)

Like this woman, who is clearly doing a bad dye job on her hair, and additionally, hasn't figured out that this "hair style" just accentuates how much her hair is thinning. (Check out near the end when she's wiping down the table with "all the extra energy" she has)

    https://www.ispot.tv/ad/1c3p/balance-of-nature-family-mountain-trip-25-off-and-free-travel-set

It seems like everyday there's a new commercial for Balance of Nature featuring someone who's been taking it for as long as a quarter of a century. While I think this is such BS that I'd like to order it and be able to debunk their claims this stuff is too expensive to waste money on.

And quite frankly I'd be afraid of the side effects. Taking all kinds of ground up fruits and vegetables packed into a capsule makes me think of all kinds of gastric backlash

Mika & Joe should be very grateful for President Trump's legal problems. This has allowed them to spend almost the entire show over the past few months ranting about the issue. It's easier than trying to discuss other topics

If Jon Stewart was still hosting The Daily Show, he would post clips of Mika & Joe fawning over Trump while he was running for President in 2016 & especially during the transition in power.

Joe's knowledge of economics is stunningly superficial. The show used to have a segment with CNBC's Mark Haines & Erin Burnett every day to discuss economic issues. Ratner helps out once in a while.

Erin Burnett has been on CNN for years and sadly Mark Haines died. They could have a CNBC personality on regularly but maybe they can't get anyone who's willing to listen to Joe yapping.

Joe and Mika may think that their long time viewers don't remember how they giggled and fawned over Trump calling in constantly but sorry we do. Hell I remember Eddie Glaude telling viewers not to bother voting in 2016 if they live in blue states.

Oh gawd! Haven't seen that one yet thank goodness! And I am not going to google it because heavens knows what $hitty (pun intended) ads are going to show up on everything I look at!

It's just that everytime you turn around there has to be the new "miracle" product and this commercial looks like they threw it together in a minute for $10

  13. The one thing they did well this morning was showing the concession speeches.  I thought it was interesting and I like seeing history.

Sadly they were showing us 63 years of concession speeches because of the lies that are so blatantly thrown out there in 2023

  14. Who's idea was it to have Rachel Maddow read the indictment verbatim for what seems to be an eternity.  And not do a great job of it.

And she has a panel of other MSNBC hosts with her who are sitting there while she rambles on.

I had to turn her off after 20 minutes of suffering through this hot mess

Oh, jeeze. I knew Joe and Mika were petty but, really, how can they refer to themselves as "journalists" when they can't even say a last name? Especially of someone they coo-ed at and coddled leading up to his election? Ugh.

I don't think I've ever heard Joe or Mika refer to Trump as The Former Guy

  16. Of course I don't want to go down the breaking the board rules road so I won't refer to TFG by any other name.

I don't begrudge Joe for taking time off although it does seem like a inordinately amount of time for someone who has his own cable TV show and he can so he does.

He's not the only MSNBC host given this privilege
