Players don't play to entertain us but to try and win. Dean's move was a good one; he didn't want to be aligned with crazy Noura, unpredictable Karishma and likeable Elaine so he tried to change his game. Good for him. You disliking him doesn't change the fact that his move was good.
His move was terrible for his game. He went from guaranteeing himself a spot in the final 4 to attaching himself to the very bottom of an already established alliance while showing every single person out there that he can't be trusted.
Also, I feel the need to point this out, Sandra wasn't a goat in either of her winning seasons. She played hard, did a lot of strategizing, was in on most of the votes and was able to communicate all her game moves during the final TCs in a way that didn't piss off the people she had a hand in voting out.

I'm thinking she's only sick about getting called out on her despicable behaviour. Remember, before this episode aired, Elizabeth was happily promoting it on her social media and telling people to watch. She's had months and months to reflect on what she did but clearly didn't think she did anything wrong until the episode aired and people let her know exactly how vile her actions were. Then, and only then, was she suddenly sorry.

Being one of the first women ocean front life guards doesn't mean Janet is the greatest lifeguard ever, or that she overcame "the obstacle of being a woman," it just means she was in on those first opportunities.
I'm pretty sure it does mean she overcame the obstacle of being a woman but he meant it in an admirable way, not a demeaning way. The entire world is still an Old Boys Club and the fact that Janet was the first just proves that there were barriers in place and she broke through those barriers. Still to this day, women are held back from advancing as a lot more than firemen, police officers, and combat soldiers. Even if laws have been changed, mindsets have not. The Old Boys Club is very very much alive and well.

Dean's high school "trauma" was that he chose to go to a school known for basketball and had to practice, and he cried regularly because he couldn't have a regular teenage life of parties like he saw on TV shows like The OC. Even though it was his choice and no one who isn't rich as hell and spoiled with questionable parenting actually has a life like that. Poor guy.
That interview was hilarious! So his big trauma that caused him to come home crying to his mommy every day was that he had to practice with the rest of his team instead of partying? Man, this guy just becomes more of a prize every day. Get in line, ladies. He's mine!

Oh FFS. I got trapped in the stupid quote box again and now I'm just too annoyed to re-type so forget it.
Move along, nothing to see here...

Yes, because Karishma isn't a great athlete and was struggling. But she definitely tried, she just couldn't get moving in the sand.

I never got the impression that Karishma didn't put any effort into the challenges, I just think she's not the greatest athlete and sucked at them, but not for lack of trying. I'd be the same way, which is one of the 967 zillion reasons why I could never be on this show.

Man. So, with season 39 being the first season in years that I've watched (I know the last time I watched, the show was still in single digits), after this season is done, I do want to go back and watch a few seasons that I missed. Now, obviously trying to go back to watch all 38 other seasons is not going to happen for me.
So I wanted to throw it here and ask if there are any seasons that are must-watches?
My favourite recent season was David vs Goliath, S37. It made up for a lot of really shitty seasons. I'd definitely give that one a watch.

I don't like Tommy at all and think he's an arrogant Creepy McCreeperson but this statement is pretty offensive. Teaching is a noble (and clearly underappreciated) profession. Most teachers don't get to choose what grade they teach, they go where the job is. Teaching young kids in elementary school is just as important as teaching any level of education, there's nothing weak or childish about it. Personally, I judge teachers on things much more important than how cool I think they are.

I can’t remember if we have seen Noura saying “I’ll always know what’s best” but clearly Karishma used the vote as an opportunity to dig at Noura. Sometimes people will put unhappy faces next to their vote or something complimentary, but never negative. So unnecessarily nasty, and coming from sad sack loser Karishma of all people.
Unnecessarily nasty would be Noura saying shit like "I'm like you but I'm fun to be around." After the way these people have treated Karishma all season, she has every right to be as bitchy as she wants. I understand she wasn't a blast to be around but something about the way they are horrible to her directly to her face bothers me so much more than if they were trashing her behind her back. It's almost like they're saying, we think you're so worthless and dislike you so much, we don't even feel the need to pretend to treat you decently.

Any chance Rick Devens and Chris Underwood can crash the show this season?
At this point, I’m just like, screw it, - let Rob and Sandra push the button and join the game.
2 hours ago, susannot said:Since when did they allow the contestants to talk and argue and scheme among themselves DURING Tribal Council? I hate that. If it had not happened I think Dean and Noura might have stuck to the original plan and taken out Tommy.
I don't dislike him as much as some of you. In fact, I don't give a shit who wins, although I like Janet and Elaine. I just want to see good game play, not blatant producer manipulation.
The whispering and huddling at TC has been going on for quite a while now and it’s beyond annoying but Probst loves his drama.
I’m curious what would have happened at TC if Dean hadn’t been sitting that close to Tommy. That was annoyingly convenient. Not saying that it was manipulated by production or anything. Just that it was annoying. And convenient.

WTF Dean?! What did we miss? Why did he suddenly blow up the whole plan like that? And why did these idiots think it was so important to vote out a non-threat like Karishma? Ugh....this is why we can’t have nice things!!
I loathe the family visits so I tend to zone out but did they show the reward at all? Or just Noura ranting instead?
So I guess Rob and Sandra are just there to hang out now? This season started out so good, now I just want it to be over.

Have people criticized Karishma for playing? (Not doubting you, it's just been a long week and I don't remember those comments.) In any case, I'm with you in that I respect her for playing even if she only lasted a few seconds. I always think that everybody should play and, while I acknowledge that it's really easy to judge people while I'm sitting at home on my couch, it doesn't stop me from judging everybody who chooses to eat instead of play every single time.

Why aren't the head honchos fans of the reunion? I mean, sure, Jeff and random kids in the audience and Sia and Kevin Hart usually make it unwatchable but it could be great if they would just do it properly.

29 minutes ago, Bryce Lynch said:My view is that if the victims won't make make stopping the touching a high priority, why should production step in and make decisions that are against the expressed interests of the victims? These are grown women, not helpless children.
"The victims won't make stopping touching a priority..."
"If an alliance is more important to you than stopping inappropriate touching, why should the TPTB see the touching as more important..."
"Kellee also could have idol'ed him out....."
The victim blaming is beyond frustrating. It is not up to Kellee or any other victim of harassment to take any disciplinary action against the person who is harassing them. All the victim has to do is report it, which Kellee did. It's the responsibility of the people in charge to take further action. And leaving it up to Kellee to decide (or any victim) is unacceptable for the vast array of reasons already mentioned.

Jeff absolutely knew they were already aware of the eat-or-play option. He literally just did an interview last week where he mentioned that he is kept up to date on everything that happens in the game 24/7.

Since he didn't know what she said until it aired, long after the season finished filming, I'm pretty sure he'll be there.

Everyone's saying Lauren wasted her idol, but I think either the one she played will be good for the next tribal, too, or she will get a second one. Didn't Rob say that if she was right she would have immunity for the next two tribals?
He meant that it would be good for next 2 TCs, meaning that it could be used at either TC, not that her immunity would last for 2 TCs.
9 hours ago, Al Herkimer said:I'm honestly surprised to see the level of anti-Dan sentiment here after what seemed like a genuine apology. So far he's playing a good UTR game aside from the Kellee incident. His name never comes up.
There has been no genuine apology from Dan. He still doesn't think he did anything wrong. His whole "apology" at TC was basically "if I ever did this, I would feel awful..." or "if I ever made anyone feel a certain way..." There's no "if" about it, but Dan still hasn't taken responsibility for his icky behaviour.
2 hours ago, Eolivet said:Come sit next to me, because same. It's interesting that Missy and Aaron got the dreaded "arrogant" label, while Tommy literally said, "You write my name, you pack your bags" and "She wrote my name down, so now I'm coming for her." The one who sat in the tribal council where Elaine played her advantage and said, "If I go home, it will be the worst night of my life."
Sitting next to you guys! I also find Tommy extremely unpleasant and entitled.

Bye, Elizabeth. Good riddance to bad rubbish!
I literally shouted “YES!!” when Karishma played her idol. I get that she can be annoying but they all talk about her like she’s nothing so it brought me great joy to see her mess up their plans. I mean, really, they can’t “allow” Karishma to go any further in the game? Fuck all y’all!
Dean was especially smarmy tonight. I was really hoping he’d somehow get blindsided. Why exactly is Noura a goat? She’s been in on almost every vote and she’s winning challenges. I can’t wait until Dean and his hit-in-the-face-with-a-frying-pan face go home.
As useless as IOTI is, I would totally watch a season of just Sandra getting bit by chickens while Rob laughs at her. 😂

I remember him as being a DoucheBro. Obviously not nearly as bad as the other Dans but I seem to remember being pretty happy when he got BINGed from the game.
-
Ah, Silas. He got royally screwed by the twist in his season but I seem to remember he was douchey so I was happy about it.
I wasn't crazy about Jenna during her first season but I came to like her. Or, moreso, I liked her and Ethan together. They seemed to bring out the best in each other and she stuck by him during some really awful times. I know they've both moved on with their lives but that's probably the only Survivor couple I ever really cared about. (Sorry Rob and Ambuh)

They should just stop casting Dans. Their track record has been abysmal.

All these exit interviews sound remarkably similar. They've all clearly been coached by TPTB to play up the "I didn't have all the information" angle. The one thing that these interviews has made clear though is that the meeting production had with all the players was 100% grade A bullshit. It sounds more like it was a casual "Hey guys, remember to give each other space anyway GAME ON!" So casual and vague that nobody even bothered paying attention to it or wondered why it was said.

It's Kellee's right to accept her apology. Just like it's the right of every woman who has ever been sexually harassed to not accept her apology.
As for the damage that this has caused, it's not something the "trolls" have made up. You can see the damage with your own eyes. Twitter and other social media has been rife with men using this as a clear example of why most women shouldn't be believed.

Past Seasons Talk: The Tribe Has Spoken

Ugh. Yes. I hate to have to put you through the torment of watching that asshole but, if you're going to watch him in 20, you should probably watch 19 just so you can fully appreciate what a horrid person he is. (Although I disagree that he changed how the game is played. Other than conveniently finding idols, did he really do anything else? He wasn't the only person to ever find an idol without getting a clue although, admittedly, he was annoyingly good at it.)
