  1. I have no idea why this has a separate thread, but okay. You can only blame so much on an actor. Vanessa Marcil did a full year on the show and was supposedly willing to commit beyond had she been accommodated or made happy. She wasn't - she had to fight to stop a love triangle with Brenda, Sonny and Sonny's son, and she reportedly left unhappy. She took her out. That's on the show, which mangled her story for a year. Jonathan Jackson came back for multiple years, and only left because like Vanessa Marcil, he'd been sold a bill of goods promising him one thing story-wise and giving him another. Another major issue was that they'd also promised him a lighter schedule and less grueling emotional story, and reneged. He took his out. Again, that's on the show, not the actor. I know what it's like for a show to be held hostage by a character or actor; I watched OLTL starring Todd Manning for twenty years, and for most of those twenty years the show was beholden to Todds #1 or 2 at regular intervals. I don't think the situation with Robin Scorpio is in any way comparable. Kimberly put herself out there, made herself at their disposal and Ron and Frank mismanaged her time and her story. They have done this several times before. They did it with a lot of actors at the end of OLTL on ABC, including GH's Ted King who got totally screwed in his year on that show, partially because from what I understand Ron didn't even really want him there, and by the end the character was just a plot device for him and a nuisance for the viewers. As it is now, Patrick and Emma have no heavy story. Nor will they have any heavy story without Robin, because RC has no interest in writing it. So who's being harmed? Robin can come in and out - she is an iconic character played by an iconic actress. That's who, IMO, the majority of the viewers want to see. That's all they want to see with Robin - Kimberly McCullough. And when Kimberly was on contract for many years, they were always islanding her off in story corners with Patrick anyway. Why is the burden of commitment suddenly on Kimberly McCullough to accommodate GH? She's been doing that since 2005. It's not like she was Roger Howarth at OLTL in the early 2000s, taking outs every six months.
  2. I seem to recall people telling me Kimberly was willing to stay longer this time but they told her she could split. In any event, no, nothing excuses the way they botched her stint. She's always made herself available, it's the show that delayed her return constantly and then screwed around with the time she had.
  3. I've been tired of Middle School Sexpot Alexis for at least ten years. And I know NLG didn't used to play it this broad - I believe Guza's returning staff even viciously skewered this take on Alexis in a series of scenes where she reasserted her confidence after they threw Megan McTavish out - but that rush faded, and she has been like this since then through several regimes. It's at least partly the actress.
  4. I think it's feasible. It's not like Patrick and Emma have some massive storyline or that Robin is enmeshed in every central storyline on the show. Even when Kimberly was on contract in the Guza/JFP era, it's not like Scrubs weren't often islanded off by themselves by way of GH's at-best-benign contempt for the character. And I know FV has no interest in recasting either.
  5. It's not Ron who wouldn't recast anyone. Most roles, you can break the seal on and recast. Robin stopped being one of those at least a good nine, ten years ago. It's over and no one at the show is interested in doing it, nor do I blame them, especially since Kimberly remains willing to return on a semi-regular basis for decent stretches. I imagine if they hadn't told her she could split last time she'd still be block-taping and appearing semi-regularly. I never thought they'd get her back on contract for as long as they did in the 2000s, and it seemed to me that she only left, ultimately, because the tone and tenor of the show under Guza drove her out. I don't see a point in recasting Lucky yet again after two largely unsuccessful and/or unremarkable recasts and the subsequent return of the hugely popular original actor, but GH is open to that and I can understand why. Robin is another story and it ain't gonna happen, and I'm very glad for it.
  6. It's not happening. Nor should it ever.
  7. I had to laugh my ass off at Brad mourning his relationship with Lucas by pitifully mooning over Lucas's naked selfie. Really?
  8. There is zero chance they are recasting Robin. I don't know what shipper idiot came up with that shit but I know that part is completely false.
  9. Anyone know a good place to watch decent quality episodes of Season 2 of GH: Night Court? Maybe I'm missing the right video but the YT versions up look pretty lousy.
  10. I've always heard the show is safe through to at least sometime in the middle of 2015. I'd be surprised if that changed. I wouldn't be surprised to hear it's safe til 2016.
  11. I bet they did. They've wanted him back many times, including to actually resurrect Alan alongside Robin when they thought the show only had six months. Stuart's poor health has prevented that.
  12. Sarah's had work done but the hair didn't help. She looked a lot better just a few years ago on DOOL, when she was blonde again. I'd still take her back, I don't give a shit. The dialogue she had today was not great. TB fared better, but Sarah's still the true Carly. I almost guffawed when they killed A.J. and then faded to white with "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY" - wow, tone-deaf. They were so desperate to put this over as a celebration while simultaneously re-gutting the show. And there was no need to do that. You could've had A.J. fight back from the brink - go back down the stairs with his family's blessing, awaken in Monica's arms - and then do the same thing. What's worse is to realize the soap media will praise it for all the superficial little touches RC and FV are so good at - the pictures! The names! Anne Logan! But if you look at the whole, what is it in support of?
  13. I've been saying the title phrase about Sam since she fucked Sonny, so it all makes no nevermind to me. Kelly Monaco has been barely awake, seemingly constantly hungover and disheveled for the better part of ten years. Any good pairings or story angles she gets - Lucky, McBain, villainess, Cassadine, fun-loving treasure hunter, etc. - are either erased from on high or systematically destroyed. She had all the potential in the world, still does, but the character's stuck as an eternal dishrag. The only thing more wasteful than dumping her would be keeping her around for more of the same.
  14. I won't be back here much until TWOP is gone; I intend to keep using that board until then. I am grudgingly coming over. I guess.
