  1. This was a great challenge. Bringing a professional like Coco into the actual challenge lends capital F fashion cred to the show vs guests like the housewives. It's also good to see the contestants on an even playing field. Same model with the same measurements and skills for everyone. I'm coming to defend Coco, as well. She's an amazing model and a delight in person. She's been in the industry for half her life and she has worked with the best. She knows what she's talking about. She's confident not arrogant. Fun fact - Coco was a competitive Irish dancer. Jean Paul Gaultier had her dance down his runway twice -
  2. On runway day the housewives walked in all done up with full faces and yet they still them go to the makeup room. I was certain they would skip it but they just piled more on. Overall, the final results were uneven and a bit underwhelming. It's a strange balance because the looks the women wear for the reunion shows aren't really tasteful or fashionable. They are loud and sparkling without subtlety meant to grab as much attention as possible. They are pageant dresses' older slutty sister. It doesn't work in the favor of minimalist designers. For the question up thread asking what Octavio would have created, he'd probably do well since he has experience working with clients.
  3. I think it was meant to mimic the shape of the eyes on the accessory. It would have been interesting to see what a collection from her would look like. It seems like she relies on the tricks she knows how to do because she lacks the knowledge and is under a time restraint. Shortening this look made it look better and then she chickened out. She needs to think past what she would wear and what other women would wear and how. Overall the designers seemed to be more excited about this challenge and produced more dramatic looks. I kept thinking of Alexander McQueen's Oyster Dress when Bones kept talking about his inspiration.
  4. Just took a look at Martha's website and Instagram and it's a lot of overpriced sparkly, boxy pieces, which is fine if you can find someone to buy them. It's about the loudness of the fabric vs the actual design of the clothes. It may be her authentic self but much of it feels forced. Remember Erin from PR 15, she had a similar cool girl that's loud and outrageous persona but as affected as she seemed, she fully embodied it, where as Martha seems to be badly play acting. I'm not down on the aesthetic, she just wasn't the right one to bring it and I'm not sad to see her go.
  5. I loved Karlie's outfit. It was a fun throw back to the early 2000s. These season was low energy or something. I wasn't rooting for anyone, I was somewhat rooting against people though (Victoria & Sergio). At the same time, there was no one I was disappointed didn't make it to the final. Sergio need to simplify multiple of his looks and vary the length of the fringe. Sean Kelly did a beautiful collection of fringe looks that never looked country. Nancy had pretty fabrics that did all the work. Geoffrey's collections looks really disjointed. I didn't understand the delicate sheer next to the heavy chain mail looks. Victoria, awful colors and no need for logos. It all looked very 80s, tired 80s. We're in an age of multiple fashion design shows. Project Runway needs to step up on the talent casting and challenges, I can barely remember any of them. PS - Don't think that's a PR runway for Chelsey since the background is black and not white like the show.
  6. Wow, that loser edit from the beginning, I thought it was so obvious that they might have been trying for a fake out, but nope, she's gone. Never a good sign when we learn their full background and the look is weak. Meanwhile, does the fact that they surprise them with making their look disadvantage designers that have created more complicated looks? Also, the Moldavian made a half and half look last week, too.
  7. @Maya S thanks for pulling those tweets! i was pulling for the double elimination. I would be perfectly fine with seeing tonight’s top three be the final three. They’ve had all female finales so why not an all male finale, especially when they’ve left us with only Hester and Tessa as the females. I hope Sebastian gets over whatever drama from the preview and stays in the competition. If not then it’s Bishme’s to win and I’ll accept no other outcome. Also, they had TWO days for this and the bottom was still so poorly done. Been watching old seasons from lifetime where every challenge was 1 day and they were putting out higher level than the bottom here. And this was the top 6 designers, this should be easy. It seems like a designer should come out of school being able to just whip out a standard evening gown, even if it’s not innovative or groundbreaking.
  8. I'm all for more male model challenges and more costume challenges! Loved that they were able to go full throttle over the top. Christian is so good at saying goodbye to the designers. It's always so personal and touching. I'm so glad Sonia was able to "let go" of her bitterness. It really shows growth when she's able to let go of her entitlement of being the premier sous sewer.
  9. Ehhh, they precided over seasons with Erin and Ashley winning, so they aren’t blameless and they let the twins on.
  10. The whole runway was underwhelming. They did the expected looks with the expected colors. The safe group was safe because their looks were well made but so boring. The winning team was fine, but another Hester win seems to be over kill. Garo made me think of Andora from bewitch, it felt heavy. The floaty top was my favorite. The losing team, well we don’t need conceptual beachwear, it was appropriate for an avant guard challenge not one where the client is sitting right in front of you. And Renee, even if the pants were perfect what was interesting about a floral top tucked into pants. And that way too junior dress with the ruffle was painful. It seemed right for a girl’s dance recital. The challenge itself was a good challenge because it provided freedom within a specific parameter that allowed for creativity and the designers didn’t rise to the occasion. And this constant praise for Hester is becoming a bummer, especially when a designer like Sebastian has been getting so little attention. Maybe he’s the Dmitry of the season, not a lot of wins but wins the season. I really want to like this show but they’re making it hard. And Tessa is a bitch but I’m right there with her on Hester. I would have been thinking the same thing but would never had said it out loud.
  11. Also, Hester isn't groundbreaking. The high fashion pastie has been done before. Tom Ford did it recently.
  12. When they are judging, I don't care what the models feel like because they aren't the customer, they're models. They're supposed to sell the look no matter what. I would have put Have Sebastian in the top over Lela. I didn't understand Renee's look. Tessa's look wasn't refined enough, it felt like loungewear. Hester wouldn't have sent down the same look without the immunity. She was just showing how "edgy" she is. I was hoping for a fresh, modern Grace Kelly kind of look from one of them.
  13. Part of me is surprised they let us see that everyone was avoiding the "curvy" models. Also, there are only two out of ten that are "curvy" doesn't seem fair, there should be more (doesn't help that one of them is not a good walker). There should be Size 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14. A gradient. Tessa shouldn't be punished for voicing what they are all thinking. This issue is something that could be easily foreseen. They should always be randomly assigned models for every challenge. Or just do away with it altogether and let them all deal with "curvy" on specific challenges so it's even because they're all doing it.
  14. This judging is getting a little suspect. Hester’s look was awful. Totally costume and a bit drab if it really is a raver. Tessa may be a mean girl but she was right in the TH. Garo’s was cliche and costume, too. And again the winning look is on the thin model. They can’t have it both ways, either you’re creating a character in a costume or you’re creating fashion. Asking for both is unfair. Let the designers go wild and design the most ridiculous costumes they could imagine. Let them push their boundaries. At least it would be interesting. The one guy needs to stop making everything in muslin first. It’s time to sew! Rakan wasn’t a fit for this show and it was time for him to go. The show is still cutting off the dead weight and it’s obvious. I did like the look from the woman with long hair who may have had her first TH tonight. We never see her. The shirt was fun, if impractical for anything. And Sebastian’s monk was was pretty.
  15. Sometimes I think they should be given references or mood boards to better understand the context of the challenge. That way those that are not familiar with street wear could get context as long as the designers don't lift ideas straight from it. I was actually interested in the concept of Rakan's look but he didn't do enough with it. They were right to point out the pants needed pockets and should have been slouchy. The shrug should have been exaggerated and embellished. They had that whole table of extras. As for Jamal, it's a one day challenge, who has time for all this work in muslin? Get sewing! I wonder if Hester's hats have sayings on two sides so that she just has to turn it 180 degrees and a new phrase is there and the other is hidden on her neck. Many of the safe looks were safe because they boring but well made. Multiple didn't seem to hit the mark either but weren't offensive.
