Yeah, you're right, that's kinda my sense. their expertise isn't just luck, it's real. That's why it works better in my head that Chuck is just messing with them now and hasn't been their whole lives. I mean, it's like "Bad Day at Blackrock's" bastard cousin written my a thousand monkeys with a thousand typewriters, but it seems more like bad luck. If it wasn't bad luck, why does the credit card stop working, and Baby break down? Was Chuck making them super heroes, too? So, I will convince myself it's just Chuckles twirling his mustache so I can deal with it. Also, why go to Alaska to restore their luck, if it isn't luck? Even if it was written by monkeys that's gotta mean something right? Right? Somebody please tell me it's going to be okay. *sobs* And yes, I rewatch over and over. I get to the end of one season, watch a few favorite picks from whenever, then pick another season. It is fun. 🙂

I've decided that I'm only going to concentrate on the (if I can find it) good things in an episode. Beats feeling like shit every week. I am frankly looking forward to the end. So I can erase the last 3-4 seasons and pretend the show stopped when it was still decent. First a couple of bads: bad cartoon music. gah. For a show known for its music this was the sad sackiest (okay, it's not a word, bite me) music yet. Yeah, even hair metal wouldn't have been appropriate, but geez, just some decent none Elmer Fudd type would have worked. I mean, I'd have even taking "Kung Fu Fighting" over what they had, and that's saying something. Second, the baby names. Cheap shot all around. First few seconds of the dance scene I was okay, then it got cringy enough I had to look away. Okay, Jensen can do it all, but I am seriously reminded of the immortal words of Ian Malcolm, "Your scientists writers were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should." Raise your hand if you've ever had a mouth full of blood after having cavities filled! Yeah, me neither. The goods:...Dean's Seriouslys. Haha. And the Son of a Bitch at the end. I could listen to him yell that on repeat on my Son of a Bitch days. lol Dean almost got one of his fondest wishes, firing the grenade launcher! Of course that was snatched away at the last second, but for a minute there I had an evil grin along with him. I do like Garth, so I was glad to see him and know that he's doing good. At least somebody on this show gets a decent happy ending! and goods melting into bads: I, too, thought that Dean's pep talk would result in them going out and taking down Maul. I mean come on, they've trained their whole lives, have immense experience and none of that can stick? Even humans can do "super hero" stuff, SEaLs or Delta Force anyone? So, that was shit. I also thought throughout that maybe it was Chuck just giving them a curse, bad luck, or just saying "mess with me, huh? I'll show you!" and twirling his mustache and making them klutzes for a while as some sort of payback for defying him all the time. Which actually could have been kinda interesting to see them still outwit, outplay, outlast him in the end, but..... Sigh. Well, it was good for a couple laughs. And I can happily forget it ever happened and go back to watching the first few seasons again.

Ugh, a few thoughts that aren't fully formed into eloquent words. 1) Since Jack was conceived, the real slash romance has been Jackstiel. 2) I'm so sick of Mary Sues, I threw up in my mouth a little bit at the last scene. I thought Nickifer was the apogee of my hate for stupid Mary Sue characters, but I was wrong. Oh, so very wrong. His son is doing him several magnitudes better. 3) Sam is remarkably blase about Mary's death for someone who wanted his mom so bad for all those years and was so close to her when he finally did get her. And I really thought he would see through the lies Chuck was showing him. I get that both the boys are worn down and tired of always having to save the world, but Chuck has done nothing but lie to them since revealing himself as God. And angels turned out to be dicks and have really fucked with them alot too. Please Sam, it's time to be realistic. Hope for the best, but expect the worst, cause really dude, hasn't that been your whole life? 4) For a severely abused person with a temper and multiple weapons, Dean has shown remarkable restraint. The only reason some of my family and close friend abusers aren't dead is that I don't currently own a firearm and am actually taking the meds the psychiatrist prescribed. I sooooo get Dean. It's almost like watching my own emotions played out on screen. Dean's whole apology was a great big fat cry of "I hate what you do to me but I'm so conditioned to the abuse and afraid to be by myself that I'll give you want you want because if I'm alone with my anger I'll eat myself alive from the inside out. God knows I can't kill myself. Someone might actually need me and give me a crumb of the love that I deserve because I'm a fucking human being who needs love as much as everyone. But you've conditioned me since I was a tiny kid to be a doormat and God help me I can't stop that no matter how hard I try. Because you taught me this is all I deserve, all I'm allowed, and I need some tiny bit of acknowledgement, so much, that I will endure any hurt just to get that crumb." 5) I so loved Dean standing up to Chuck. Maybe there is hope for him to sluff off the abuse. Of course, we won't see it, but in my head he will give everyone the big ol' finger, drive off in Baby and find someone who really appreciates him. And I need Chuck to look like a nebbishy little guy because for me that is the whole schtick of the God of Abraham. Reference Job, and Abraham and Isaac and torturing his own son on a crucifix and a bunch of other truly questionable stuff heaped upon his creations by a "loving god". (Sorry, I'm a pagan and am the child of a God who doesn't torture for torture's sake and I don't mean to offend, but there it is: Why I have problems with the Christian God. I mean for fuck's sake, how can you not walk into a Catholic Church and see all the crucifixes and see the holy communion which is literally the transubstantiation of bread and wine into flesh and blood that is then consumed and not think this is about anything except human sacrifice and cannibalism? ) So, okay, yeah, I've not been a huge Chuck fan all along. (Anyway, sorry if I offended anyone, but really: Ewww. Just ewwww.) And....I'm spent. And I apologize in advance for ranting and offending anyone. Just needed to get some stuff off my chest after reading everything here.

I have only one thing to say: Sam, "DEAN RAISED ME."

I can't love this enough. ❤️

Ah, winter, time for reading, in between the body aches and sniffles! Life has once again intruded, but I wanted to come back and share a link to a short sweet and utterly magnificent story: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13452019/1/Achilles-Heel

(sorry back here because I'm doing a rewatch with a friend that has missed some eps.) So, if we're even going there, I wondered why they went into the houses and spent so much time wandering around an obviously empty house anyway.... That's not how an evacuation works:You get in, you get out, you get on to the next house. Shrug. Not that a lot of this episode made real world sense or anything because of dealing with supernatural entities. But I did wonder it on my first watch and it came up again after this latest rewatch.

Couple of thoughts: Liked that the bar was serving FBBC brews. My head canon for Dean singing is now this: Singing Wanted Dead or Alive before going to Hell -- he was too choked up with emotion to sign well. And DemonDean was a demon, so he was torturing the listeners for fun. Dean CAN sing. Cause after all, he's a part of Jensen. ( at 22:30) Fight me!

You know, this shot was one of the things I think might be foreshadowing. They look like actors on a stage with curtains poised to close on them. The foreshadow to the end being that there is no real resolution and they are simply defeated because there is no resolution. I dunno. I just felt like the curtains framing the tableau was purposefully significant. I know, I know, I'm probably giving the writers too much credit, or, truly in this case, giving Dick too much credit as the director. But I wouldn't put it past him to be trying to throw a hint out to the fans. Not that I think that is what's going to happen. I just still think there are attempts at misdirection (however clumsy some of them are) being made since speculation about how it will all end is obviously the hottest topic re: SPN right now.

Yeah, I love all the crazy motel motifs. That's something I look for every time. I legit was talking to the tv telling her to leave Baby alone! And forgot to mention in my comments above that we predicted the gun in the glovebox was going to come back to bite them in the ass.

Well, another ep legitimately brought tears to my eyes. (I'm never copping to any others, so don't even ask, but they probably do involve our favorite character - as if that narrows it down.) The BM at the end was excruciating. I mean, I expect Dean to be the one to sack up, but come on man...sometimes you can't stuff down any more pain. He's destroying himself. I agree with the brother mirror, and it was too easy, but the thought I had was about Becky saying there was no jeopardy, and how Chuck was all about his ending. I don't think he cares how he gets there, nor the quality of the story on the way (boy are we used to that!), so I think we're going to be seeing a lot of monsters who suck at being monsters, cause Chuck is all about the destination and could care less about the journey. I was super glad to see a dream involving Dean killing Sam. I was afraid they were just trying to make us immune to that happening so they could have that as the actual finale. Now, this does seem a bit of an effort at misdirection, especially with Lilith's revelation of Chuck wanting one to kill the other as the ending. Which sorta shoots the whole misdirection in the foot, so it was kind of a disappointment to reveal both those things in the same episode. No time for the questions to build. As for Chuck being "pervy" towards Dean, I don't think she meant it that way. I think she was trying to get a rise our of Dean, and maybe Sam, too. I think Chuck is gunning more for Dean because Dean is the one who continually denies him his pleasure with the things he wants to make them do. Chuck points them straight ahead and Dean makes a hard left and flips Chuck off along the way. Every. Time. Now that's gonna make Chuck all about flogging Dean and well, look at what two characters being close friends has spawned in the slash world, so it's not that hard to image someone (Lilith) going straight to pervy territory on that situation. There were definitely things that seem to be foreshadowing. Let's hope that it's not all forgotten by next week, cause some of these things have interesting potential.

I remember her saying she put Dean to sleep, but will have to verify on a rewatch.

Well, I think you are a very good writer. I finished Three Strikes tonight and I liked it even better than Empire. The humor was great. The characterizations were spot on, and I loved the call backs you made to familiar catch phrases that have long gone to the wayside. Compared to other fanfic I've read I felt that your characterizations were the best I've seen and I've seen some really good ones. The action was satisfying and the ghost creepy and not one that I saw coming, frankly. The H/C was balanced out abut right for me, maybe a tetch heavier than I like, but that's just me. I know the boys should really be getting sick and beat up a lot more than we see on screen, but I've read a few of the H/C genre stories that were far too much for me, and yours wasn't too heavy handed and overly done like some of those. I think it was well balanced. I am really wishing you had more stories to share! Pretty please! Anyway, thanks for sharing because I really enjoyed them. Now on to some of the others. And I'm glad someone put their review here. I like seeing what other people thought of the same stories I'm reading. I think we should continue this way if there are no objections. And I plan to go back and reread Baby_Spinach's so I can review them openly as well. Thanks again guys, and please keep the links coming. I have a more reading time right now, winter kinda grounds me. And this is a fantastic way to fill it!

Awesome, thank you. I'll bookmark you and definitely take a look. 🙂 And I can definitely recommend the Christmas story linked above. It was really good. Heavy on the H/C but enough monsters and action to keep me interested -- I can only take so much H/C and angst. Not saying it's bad, just that I'd rather have scary monsters and fights. 🙂

What FlickChick said! I also really loved how you gave the mark a sort of personality of its own. That was one thing through those episodes that I kinda wish they'd tried to show: it wasn't just some dark part of Dean acting out. It was it's own evil entity that had influence over him. Thanks for sharing. I still have Three strikes to read.
