  1. Ha, I love the tweets, RogerFromOhio.

Btw, Sherri doesn't need to reply to tweets for people to see who tweets her. If you just search her Twitter name, you can see all tweets that contain her Twitter name (direct tweets to her or tweets about her):

    https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=%40SherriEShepherd&src=typd

Click on "All" to see them.  You can also just search her name, not her official Twitter name, to see tweets about her:

    https://twitter.com/search?f=realtime&q=Sherri%20Shepherd&src=typd

I see your two tweets there, as well as several tweets from people who tweeted pics of meeting Sherri after the show, including tweets with links to Instagram pics. Hmm, I have to say that looking at some of those pics the Cinderella audience is tweeting of Sherri, she looks very different from the pics she herself puts on her Instagram (I just looked at that ripped jeans-pimping one linked above).

Bitsy hasn't bothered yet, but I see that Ana Navarro made her way to the show today:

Just saw Cinderella on Broadway starring my pal, @SherriEShepherd. Great story about empowerment & being whatever u want to be. Catch it!

Sal tweeted about this article (along with a pic of the page in People Magazine):

I'm only posting it because it's relevant to this People Magazine article about Sherri's appearance on Wendy Williams last week:

  2. GoldDustWoman, thanks so much for posting that clip. It was hysterical!

I sometimes flip the TV over to Fox & Friends in the morning just to laugh at EH, but I only can last a minute or two before I want to strangle someone. I was really hoping they wouldn't renew her contract after a year, but when I tuned in for a few seconds the other day they were celebrating her one year anniversary on the show. Ugh, I want her off any and all TV and gone forever from the public sphere.

  3. We had sushi last night; so good.

Tonight, I'm making Greek Chicken, except I just use Greek Seasoning instead of  the suggested spices (oregano, garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper), and I add an onion to the dish. It's such a quick and easy dinner, just add a salad. Although, I have an eggplant that I'll probably slice up, spray with olive oil, sprinkle with oregano and salt, and roast in the oven.

  4. It's been a sad, sad weekend in the LB household. We just learned that our favorite local pizza place/Italian restaurant has gone out of business. That totally sucks.

There are several other places nearby, but not nearly as good. We used to get takeout pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, dinners, soups, and an awesome cold antipasto salad. It's also a kind of family tradition here that whenever we pick up visiting family, (parents, siblings, nieces and nephews), from the airport after a long day traveling coast to coast that we order in from there on their first night here. Everyone has their favorites and we all enjoy having a low key dinner at home together, some of us in pajamas. I know my one brother-in-law is going to be so bummed when we tell him.

  5.  Even Hagen Daz has let me down.  Several years ago they offered pints of coconut ice cream. That was the one & only time I eventually grabbed the container (after several trips for one more spoonful), sat down on the couch & ate the entire pint (saw people do this in the movies & on TV, but I never had the desire before or since).  HD stopped selling coconut ice cream shortly after that.

I know it's not quite the same, but if you also like pineapple, Häagen-Dazs makes a Pineapple Coconut ice cream.

  6. Lamb chops. I have four days home alone with nothing that needs to be done, so I'm indulging in all the foods that nobody else in my family likes.

Thanks for the link to the recipe for Herb Crusted Lamb Chops with Mint Pesto. I don't like mint that much, but Mr. LB loves mint jelly with his lamb chops. I'm going to try this because I think he'd really like it.

So it took me almost a month, but I finally tried that recipe for Herb Crusted Lamb Chops with Mint Pesto that Tabbyclaw linked to back on Page 3 of this thread and am I glad I did.

Like I said, I'm not that crazy about mint, but even I liked the pesto. My husband loved the mint pesto, just as I figured he would. But what I really loved most about that recipe is the preparation of the herb crusted lamb chops. Usually, we just put some olive on the lamb chops, some garlic, salt and pepper and grill them in a grill pan or on the outdoor grill. This method of coating them with the rosemary, thyme, and oregano, and cooking them in a cast iron skillet on the stove just a few minutes on each side until a crust forms, then sticking them in the oven for about ten minutes was freaking delicious.

Actually, my husband took care of the lamb chops, and I made the pesto, baked sweet potatoes, and sauteed some spinach in olive oil and lots of garlic. The lamb chops were the best part. We're making lamb chops like that from now on.

Thanks for posting the recipe link, Tabbyclaw!

That was the other night (Tuesday). Last night was chicken, rice, and salad; and tonight we had steak with a spicy rub, baby baked potatoes, and Dole's BBQ Ranch chopped salad.

  7. Happy Birthday WendyCR72! I'm glad you had a nice one and enjoyed dinner with your family/loved ones.

All of you make me so hungry every time I dare peek at this thread! Tonight Mr. Mbay is grilling rib eyes. Sides of ranch beans, rice, green salad and Texas toast. I have been having a craving for cauliflower lately and found a recipe on purewow for a whole roasted spicy cauliflower. Mr. Mbay may try this later this week.

mbaywife123, that cauliflower sounded good, so I had to look it up:

    http://www.purewow.com/entry_detail/recipe/8821/Forget-florets--roast-the-whole-damn-cauliflower.htm

I might have to try that soon. I love roasted cauliflower, but the way I always do it is just cut up the florets, throw them on a baking sheet, spritz with olive oil, a little bit of salt and garlic, roast at 425 until it gets nice and browned. It's so delicious. But, I think I will have to try that recipe soon. Thanks for mentioning it.

  8. Has anyone ever tried to make a chocolate espresso dacquoise before? I saw it recently on an episode of America's Test Kitchen and was fascinated, but it seems like a MASSIVE amount of time and effort. Here is a recipe: http://www.districtkitchenette.com/blog/new-years-eve-2014-chocolate-espresso-dacquoise

I'm not much of a baker, so I already admire those who are more talented than I am in that area, but this one is seriously impressive.

Although I'm not even much of a dessert person (I have to be in the mood for it), this dessert looks unbelievably delicious and I want one now.  Roasted sliced almonds, roasted hazelnuts, hazelnut meringue, dark chocolate ganache, espresso-amaretto buttercream? Okay, if someone made that for me, I'd either marry him or give him all my worldly possessions, or both.

  9. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because we're going to try that One Pan Pasta recipe that Mya Stone posted a few weeks ago.

Quoting myself from last week (sorry), but just to say that this recipe was excellent and thanks for posting it Mya Stone. It seemed like such an odd way to make a pasta dish, but it did eventually all come together. I made it exactly as the recipe called for, but next time I plan on perfecting it by topping it with some goat cheese (because everything's better with goat cheese, as far as I'm concerned, lol). It's originally from Martha Stewart's website, btw, (Ha, I even watched the video there).

For some reason, I'm making pasta dishes far more frequently than normally, (cooler weather, probably). Yesterday, we made Baked Rigatoni with Italian Sausage and Peppers, and salad. I can't even remember where I came across that recipe, (here maybe?), but it was so easy and really good. I would have liked it with a mix of sweet sausage and hot sausage, but I only had sweet in. So, I just added some hot pepper flakes to the mixture.

Tonight, Mr. LB had it again, since we have a ton leftover and he really loved it. I wanted something lighter so I chopped up some leftover Teriyaki chicken breasts and threw it in a big bowl of Dole Asian Blend Chopped Salad mixed with Ken's Dressing Lite Asian Sesame with Ginger and Soy, one of my favorite meals to make with leftovers, (tastes great and takes less than a minute to throw together).

Also, thanks to the bad influence of my fellow posters in the fast food thread, (you know who you are, lol), this weekend we had Five Guys burgers and fries for the second time ever! I've been corrupted, damn it! Sadly, those Cajun Fries are addictive. I wish I had never read that thread, ha ha.

  10. LuckyB, what is that peanut butter barbecue sauce about?  Is the attraction the combination of tastes, or different textures?  I just wonder because it's two flavors I would not think of combining (though I'm familiar with African Peanut Soup).  I want to try it, but think it will be a tough sell to the hub.

harrie, there's just a very subtle peanut butter flavor, I noticed that one review said she was going to double the PB next time, but I liked it the way it was. I did use the suggestion of using crunchy PB instead of the creamy PB the recipe called for. I think either is fine, but I liked the added texture to the sauce.

I just asked Mr. LB about the flavor and he said he didn't really detect PB in it. He said it just made the BBQ sauce taste more like a roasted, sort of nutty sauce, not necessarily peanut. It was very subtle; the PB just gives more flavor to the BBQ sauce. I used a cheapo BBQ sauce, btw, (Kraft Original BBQ sauce, on sale).

Also, this time I made it with chicken drumsticks instead of thighs and it was very good.

  11. And there is more info out there on this that shows this not a little smack on the butt.  The Houston paper has a lot more detail including that the little four year old boy had no pants on, and that he was whipped twice during that visit (not sure if it was a weekend).  Peterson knew he had crossed the line because he texted the boy's mother about it.  He also knew that the boy was scheduled for a Dr. appt on his return home, and that the Dr. would see the injuries, so he was doing damage control to suggest that the "switch" somehow wrapped around the boy's thigh accidentally hurting him.  The boy told police that he stuffed leaves in his mouth while he was whipping him.  Peterson said if the boy had cried he would have known he was hurting.  The boy also told police that his father whipped him with a belt, that his dad had lots of belts, and "whooping" room.  So there are enough facts out there to suggest this is not a spanking.  I don't know why the new and improved view didn't present these facts, but Ro did present some of it to shut down Whoopie. I think Ro made a good point about football players and violence, but I think both Whoopi and Rosie are boxing fans, so that kind of ended there.  OTOH Rosie did talk about being abused as a child so I think we will hear more on the subject.

The reason I am interested in this is that my own husband said to me on the weekend, can you believe they charged this football player for spanking his own kid?  I think that is where Whoopi is coming from and she didn't have the facts.  It is weird how sometimes she is very well-informed and other times not at all.

Yes, I heard about it on Friday evening and late Friday night, I read all the disgusting details here:

    http://houston.cbslocal.com/2014/09/12/exclusive-details-on-adrian-peterson-indictment-charges/

It's pathetic, but typical, that Whoopi spouted off an opinion without knowing much of the details that have been reported. Same old View...

  12. Thanks for all the commentary on today's show, everyone. It sounds like the first show was just okay. Not terrible, but nothing earth shattering as far as being a must see show. I didn't DVR it and so far I haven't read anything that's tempting me to try to watch it, or clips, on the ABC website....except maybe the dreadful opening with Babs. That sounds like such a crazy idea, I wonder who came up with it and why smarter minds didn't nix it.

Someone please tell me that Babs is not going to be backstage every day. I'm hoping she was just there because she knew there was a lot of press covering the premiere episode, (typical Babs). I would think if BW were there every day that Rosie O and Whoopi would hate it. I know I would if I were them.

  13. I have Dish satellite also and I just checked it. It says Sherri is on Tuesday and Anderson Cooper is on Wednesday.

But, Wendy's website has the reverse, AC on Tuesday and Sherri on Wednesday:

    Wednesday, September 17

    SherriShepherd

    Cinderella.

The hilarious Sherri Shepherd shares her take on the latest Hot Topics including the drama at “The View,” her Broadway debut in “Cinderella” and her own recent personal struggles.

Plus, find out what comic legend Joan Rivers told Sherri when she left “The View.”

Then, People magazine reveals this year’s most stylish celebrities.

  14. I've tried, fl2dc, Sherri's Lord knows I've tried.  I can no longer pay attention to anything Rosie Perez says because I can't stand her voice.  She has played parts where her accent isn't as pronounced and her voice isn't as irritating.  Can they bring in a vocal coach...quickly?  Surely mine is a minority opinion.

Former Nun, I'm right there with you and fl2dc. I haven't been posting lately, but when I heard this news last week it sealed my decision to not even bother watching this season. Until then, I thought I'd finally check it out again after taking three years off. But I just cannot take Rosie Perez's voice for one minute. I think she really was an odd choice.

Also, from the article linked above:

...Perez had already agreed to star on Broadway in Larry David’s play “Fish in the Dark.” Can she do both jobs from mid January through May or June? She certainly won’t be able to be on “The View” on Wednesdays, when the play would have a matinee. I am assured that it can all be done.

What's so terrific about Rosie Perez as a co-host that they had to accommodate her schedule like that? Frankly, the inconsistency on this show has been one of its major problems. After a year of revolving guest co-hosts and the regulars always taking so much time off, it would probably be best to solidify a new panel and have them there on as consistent a basis as possible. Then again, this is The View, so some things never change.

This part of that article is a bad sign, as I think it would be best if Babs was totally detached from the show:

But I can tell you that when “The View” goes live on the 15th, Barbara Walters will definitely be there. Only she will be backstage in her role as executive producer.

“She will not appear on the set,” says a source. This is such a mistake, in my opinion. Barbara should be right there, at least once a week, as a guiding force. She still owns part of the show, although I’m told she sold part of her ownership to ABC and now has just 17%. Her controlling interest is gone. But ABC can’t completely ice her out, so Walters will be allowed to act as an executive.

I'll have to just continue to skip this show and read about it here, which is always far more interesting and entertaining.

  15.

Wow, that has to be one of the worst eulogies I have ever read. It's full of backhanded compliments, and really doesn't say much good about Joan. Also, for someone who claims to be her "friend", it comes off so cold and impersonal. It's as if someone forced her to write a eulogy for a mere acquaintance, someone who she secretly didn't like all that much and this is what she turned in.

This part was completely unnecessary - and, even worse - who the hell does Babs think she's fooling when we all know The View producers scripted ALL their questions for every episode:

A small secret: I always found it interesting on "The View" that we were told what to ask her, because we didn't do that with other guests.

So those spontaneous rejoinders that we had with her? They were not spontaneous at all.

She would say, "you can ask me anything, but it would be really great if you could ask me X and then I can say Y and that will be really funny." It was all part of her act.

Babs, you might be 80-something, but you are a Mean Girl. A very, very Mean Girl. As Joan would say, "Oh, GROW UP!"

BW has always been a super competitive and jealous person. It's this fact about Joan's life that I think bothers Babs so much, the one thing she has probably always been so jealous of:

Her greatest success in life, I think, is her daughter Melissa, who is a wonderful woman. There was a closeness and a sweetness between them. Joan was a great mother, and we liked to talk about our children, who are the same age.

Note how the very next paragraph begins with this, where she then goes on to list all the negatives about Joan, because "its important" to note them at this time:

But there are a few things that are important to know about Joan Rivers; and she would not be shy about me saying so.

Hey, Babs, suck it! I've honestly grown to despise you. You are NOT a nice person at all.

  16. Bella, or just Google it and print it out. That recipe has been around for a while.

I'm feeling too lazy/tired to really cook much and need a fast dinner tonight, so it's going to be crab cakes (store bought, prepared by the grocery store), rice, and salad.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow because we're going to try that One Pan Pasta recipe that Mya Stone posted a few weeks ago.

  17. That reminds me of a childhood favorite (wrong thread I know, but it came up here). My mom used to add a drop of almond extract to ricotta cheese, and I think some sugar or sweetener, and spread it on toast. Damn, I loved that. I've made it as an adult but not recently. I'll have to buy some ricotta and make it again soon.

  18. JacquelineLHope, that sounds so good. Last night, we made Pasta Carbonara with Bacon and Peas and it was so flipping delicious. We used turkey bacon instead of regular bacon, though, because I actually prefer it.

Today, the slow cooker is going for tonight's dinner: Chicken with Peanut-Butter Barbecue Sauce. I've made it once before and it was very good, served over rice. This time I'm trying it with chicken drumsticks instead of thighs. Also, I use crunchy peanut butter in the recipe.

  19. I've never been a big fan of chocolate chip cookies. I don't hate them, but they're not something I ever really crave. I'm not all that into cookies anyway and tend to eat the more plain ones when I do have some.

For homemade, I love oatmeal cookies (no raisins or chocolate in them), and just plain sugar cookies or butter cookies. Also, I love my mom's peanut butter cookies, (just the old classic recipe everyone makes).

For store bought cookies, Walkers Shortbread cookies are my favorite. Some Pepperidge Farm cookies are good too, (Chessman, Geneva, and Dark Chocolate Milano).

  20. joanne3482, I love my toaster oven, couldn't live without it.

Yay!! possibilities, you friggin' rule!! The popper works well and without shooting hot ,unpopped corn kernels all over the kitchen (or burning the joint down). It took me this long to post because after Lucky B posted, I thought I'd actually made a mistake, because the one that shoots kernels all over my kitchen? A presto popper with Orville Redenbocker on the side of it. So I was just going to thank my lucky stars that it was only twenty bucks and give up at that juncture.

So the unopened new presto popper sat in my hall for a while and then I figured, "Oh well, what the hell, maybe my Orville presto popper was just evil and that's why it was shooting high-velocity, hot kernels around the place."

It turns they are slightly different designs. I must have a slightly different one than Lucky B has. I actually took side by side pictures if anyone gives a hoot, but the Presto one is bigger, has a wider mouth and deeper shoot (there aren't too many ways to describe that that don't sound a wee bit pervy, sorry) .

Anyway, I have achieved air popper corn and I didn't have to bother the fire department :-) Thank you!

stillshimpy, I'm glad to hear the popcorn popper worked out. I can see how the old one you have has a different design that might cause the popcorn to fly everywhere. Mine is basically the same one you and possibilites have. It's just that Presto markets two of the colors under the Orville Redenbacher name and two of them under the PopLite brand.

I'm also pleased to report that after going on and on about it, I did another search and finally found a used but in great shape replacement for my beloved mouli grater.

    That's good, possibilities!
