  1. When I saw your first post, my immediate thought was it was someone from Mary’s team trying to do damage control lol 😋 I find “slanty,” “slant,” and “slanted” to be interchangeable in this context so it doesn’t matter which exact word she used, it had the same meaning. Like someone else mentioned, Jennie found it offensive, and no one has the right to say she shouldn’t feel that way. It almost comes across like victim blaming to me when you said she was upset because she’s insecure - someone made a unsolicited comment about her appearance, but she is wrong for not being OK with what was said? Lastly, one of my closest friends (and roommate for 2 1/2 years) is Taiwanese, and I can guarantee you that she would be offended if someone made that comment about her. Perhaps you don’t find it offensive because you have not grown up with people using racial slurs to comment about your appearance? Maybe to you or to Mary it doesn’t seem offensive, but because of the history of the term and for someone who has probably received comments like that throughout her life and more than likely not in a positive or flattering manner, it is racist and inappropriate to say.
  2. If somebody relapses, it is the individual’s “fault.” As someone in recovery, if a situation I have a decision in may be triggering, I will either avoid the situation or prepare myself with a plan, meetings, supports, etc. Life will still happen, and there will be situations I have no control over; however, what I do have control over is my decision to drink or not. It is Mia’s mother’s responsibility to stay sober whether Mia brings her on the show or Candace insults her. As they say, a relapse happens even before you pick up a drink (or drug of choice). Watching them take shots looked like a lot of fun and made me miss drinking for a moment, but then seeing G reminded me why this bitch can’t drink 😯 Watching people on reality tv who reportedly are in recovery or sober fascinates me. Sometimes it’s inspiring, and other times it reminds me I need to keep my ducks in a row. Anywho, thank you for reading my long message about something that doesn’t really pertain to the episode 🥲
  3. I've been coming to Previously TV for some time to read the message boards but didn't create an account until now. The topic of Brandi's adoption wanted me to share my story. My parents owned a restaurant, and one of the employees (my birth mom) was pregnant. My parents were under the impression she was going to have an abortion and asked if she would be open to adoption since they did not have any children. She said yes, and 2 days after I was born I was taken home; however, I'm Native American and was not legally adopted until I was 14. My adoption was unusual, and maybe similar to my situation the circumstances for Brandi's adoption were different as well. Of course, I could be wrong! But the discussion just struck a chord with me, and I wanted to share another possibility for the situation.
