  1. Here’s a little follow up on Anthony in case anyone is interested.  This occurred not too far from where I live.  Mom seemed to have her own issues, stepmom seemed to like the comfortable lifestyle, and out child welfare system is in disarray so nothing about the case surprises me.  The DA came into office with guns blazing. Once he started locking parents up for their truant kids I knew things were going to get interesting very quickly.

Isn’t there something about C-section babies not always clearing the fluid from their lungs that would normally get expressed during a vaginal birth? Not a parent but I’m sure I’ve heard something to that effect.

The tube in his mouth is an oro-gastric tube, so it goes through the mouth into the stomach.  Sometimes it is used intermittently to suction a newborn, expecially if the kid is 'spitty', meaning they swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid and are coughing it up.  Babies born by cesarean without labor are particularly prone to this as are premature babies.

Quoting myself here to say thanks @Notabug for clearing that up. I thought I remembered hearing that when watching something on TLC (back before it went to hell).  Again, glad the little fella and mom seem okay.

How do they “make” them abide by the room maintenance rules?

Oh, your ass is going to follow the rules or you will lose privileges and/or receive additional write ups.  The prison I worked at was one the cleanest places I’d ever been.  The grounds were immaculate and the dorms were spotless at all times.  Failure to comply was not in the inmate’s best interest.  With the exception of maximum security institutions and dormitories, the prisoners generally can move about freely during the day in many instances with the exception of inmate count times.  No one in their right mind wants to jeopardize that “freedom” and be stuck in a cell instead of a dorm, or locked down while everyone else is on the rec yard or in the common area.

How do these people call themselves “pro-life” if they refuse to protect others with a mask?  Yes, I know, they think it is all fake. It just burns me up. I want to take that term from them. They are pro-birth.

Silly rabbit. Pro-life doesn’t mean you. When they say pro-life they mean pro-my-life. It’s easy to understand why you would erroneously assume they, as “Christians”, meant everyone though. /s

I am immune to human babies so I am not the best judge, but… that kid is not cute, right? Partly because of his parents’ stupid fashion choices and the dumb pose?

Ha! He’s cute in the “he’s not a cute baby, but he’s clean, plump, happy, and smells sweet like fresh-baked oatmeal cookies the way only babies can” sort of way. That way that makes you smile when they smile at you no matter what they look like.

Glad everyone seems to be doing well.

  7. I couldn’t wear nail polish or lotion during any surgery with the most recent one in May. The pre-op nurse also told me no lotions as some of them can become flammable during surgery.

I remember when my grandfather was in the hospital and the nurses would come in and use some kind of cream to keep his skin hydrated. Whatever was in that little jar was deemed safe, and he was at a much lower risk for surgery since he wasn’t in ICU. Wanting to comb your mom’s hair and trim her nails is one thing. Jill is just doing this for attention as always.

It was interesting and entertaining because it was so different from all the standard home shows

I loved that show. I especially liked the episode where Donna drove the truck instead of Gary.  She didn’t spill a drop.

On topic: I can understand to keep the mold house. My sisters and I signed the rental property we inherited from our grandfather back to our grandmother because my dad dad after his dad but before his mom.  In hindsight, I wish we had just one of the houses. While the income from a dozen rental properties would be sweet right now, it’s the sentimental value because my grandfather built it with his own hands. I can’t knock them for wanting to hold on to family history.

  9. Don’t know if the BOP website has been updated yet, but that certainly doesn’t mean he isn’t in their custody. When I worked in inmate records for a state prison, I handled the the new inmates or new commits.  It takes a little time to get them fully into the system with a number, bed assignment, updated wrap sheet and release date.  Time computation can be tedious and is dependent upon receiving accurate and updated court minutes.  It can take a week or so to get all of that squared away.

The brush was probably a subtle hint to Jessa that Ivy's hair could use some brushing once in a while (or maybe ever judging from the pictures Jessa shows us on her social media); the rest of the gifts were just filler to make the message less obvious and ensure it would be better received.

Grandma Guinn probably does always have a brush in her purse since she knows Ivy’s hair is always a gnarled mess.  I doubt Jessa carries a purse let alone a brush.

  11. So I watched the birthday video because I’m killing time at work.  Jessa’s parenting skills leave much to be desired, but I can’t snark on the backpack full of goodies.  All little kids like to emulate adults so I get why Guinn would give Ivy a brush, chapstick and tissues for her backpack. My nieces played with the fake credit cards that came in wallets when they were young.  That’s probably the same stuff grandma has in her purse.  Ivy’s carrier with the tiger stuffed animal was adorable too.

David and Jill take three teenage boys to a restaurant, read the Bible out loud to them, have them swear a purity pledge, and give them a gift. Nothing a guy wants more than a public performance about his virginity, but this is the Rod family.

The girls get a ring or bracelet, I think. What do the boys get? A framed photo of BME and GWE in a lip lock to hang on the wall over their bed?

The thought of those two bumping uglies is enough to make my cooter seal itself up. I could see how that would emphasize “purity” amongst their teenage sons.

  13. @Nysha I’m so sorry you’re having all these difficulties but glad you got the FMLA.  Stay on top of the interactive process with your employer when you return to work. Document document document!!! Can’t say that enough.   A reasonable accommodation for you may be to remove some non-essential functions from your job (notice I said non-essential), for example, but you have to communicate back and forth to meet your needs.  Needs change over time and sometimes one thing doesn’t work so you love on tom something else.

Also check out www.askjan.org accommodation library on ADD. There’s some really good information guides on executive functioning that might be really helpful.  I was recently diagnosed with combined adult adhd, and it helped tremendously (as did the Adderall🤣). Best wishes to you.

@iwantcookies I knocked a nail off too years ago. Hurt like a mother! Just be prepared that even when the nail starts to grow back, it can easily be knocked off again.  Proceed with open toe footwear with caution for a while, and be careful about bumping it.

  14. I used to be a case worker for the food stamp program. I live down South, so I can’t speak for New Hampshire, but in general if you show your ass in those offices, you can get arrested. We had armed sheriff deputies on site.  You could also be sanctioned from participating for years.

Didn't they claim he was working in the family house business now in one of those letters? My guess is Jim Bob is now funneling money to them that way, and it counts as income but still means they're financially dependent on Jim Bob. But you're definitely right that they're not waiving the fees, so they saw some indication he has the means to pay.

Didn’t they make a tidy profit off the sale of their last house?

  16. I know 12.5 years doesn’t sound like enough, and in lots of ways it isn’t considering the heinous crimes committed.  It is still a long time, a really fucking long time.  I worked in a prison so I’ve seen what a decade of time can do to a person.  It won’t be pretty.

For anyone still bummed by the sentence, let me put that time frame into context.

    12.5 years ago:

-IPhone 4 had just come out

-The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was just being signed into law

-The horrific Deepwater Horizon oil spilled killed 11 (I think) people and devastated the gulf with 170 million gallons of oil

-The earthquake in Haiti killed 230,000

-The Chilean miners were rescued after over two months below ground

    -WikiLeaks released classified State documents

    - Prince William and Kate Middleton got

And that’s just the major headlines.  When you think about how long ago those events happened, not to mention how much has occurred since then, 12.5 years is no walk in the park. I wish he’d gotten 15, and I think he deserved all 20 years, but it’s going to be an entirely different world when he’s released.

  17. Victim impact statement discussed at sentencing

The judge at the sentencing hearing also discussed a victim impact statement provided by one of the mothers of a CSAM victim.

    He called it “heartbreaking."

    JUST NOW

Judge discussed letters from family and friends

The judge at the sentencing hearing today said good morning to Josh Duggar and Josh responded in kind.

The judge discussed the letters written for Josh and called them “helpful," especially Anna and Michelle Duggar's.

The judge called those letters “nice."

Lacount Reber also wrote a letter and the judge noted he appreciated it because Josh stayed with him while on house arrest.

The judge noted that “collectively, I considered the letters.”

I seriously hope Judge Brooks doesn’t fall for the okie doke.
