  1. I have to say that I LOVED the blue cabinets. I am also over white cabinets. They are so over done. I am actually in the process of having my own kitchen cabinets repainted in a very similar blue. Ari is as always wonderful. I keep telling myself that I’m going to quit watching this show, and I keep coming back. It’s like a train wreck.
  2. I give up. I just cannot watch this show anymore. These two are so inept that it defies logic. I do not know how they stay in business. AV just throws “historical” details at houses whether they’re the correct period or not and is so proud of herself. Those faux fireplaces in the Pierce house were pathetic. The $6000 brass vent hoods are atrocious. Every interior looks bland and exactly the same. I wonder just how much outstanding debt they are carrying right now with all of these houses waiting for the spring market. I just cannot put myself through the stress and frustration of watching these two anymore.
  3. Wow! Just watched this week’s episode. Yet another couple who has no concept of what downsizing means. I also do not understand why anyone needs a closet that big. I think that they really need to purge some clothes if they have that many. How can you ever wear that many? Also, why do you need two offices in addition to 4-5 bedrooms? I just don’t get how much some people need.
  4. Can you believe that Chip and Joanna are getting their own Discovery network?!? I had hoped that “rustic farmhouse” style (the only style that she knows) was on its way out.
  5. Did anyone else notice that this was a 2013 episode that they just tacked a one minute update on to make it a “new” episode? I wonder if they’re going to do more of these with the older Canadian episodes. I don’t mind as I have only been watching for 2-3 years and haven’t seen any of the older ones yet. Hillary sure did look good in that episode! I hope that I look that good at her age!
  6. I had to laugh at the episode of the empty nesters with the five bedroom house. They were sooo unrealistic on both fronts. On one hand, they said that they wanted to downsize, but they didn’t want to give up space. Also, they thought that they could get everything closer to the city on their budget. Then, they lowered Hilary’s budget and still expected everything. I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a couple on this show who think that they want to downsize realize that means that everything is smaller. Duh!
  7. I had to laugh at that family’s “renovated” kitchen at the beginning. What a waste of money! They also seemed unrealistic about how much they should get in a new house for their budget.
  8. I have had a second floor laundry for the past twenty years, and I will never live without it. All of the dirty clothes and towels are upstairs. Carrying them all downstairs to wash and back upstairs afterwards was a huge hassle in my first house. Going up and down the stairs a couple of times a day to switch the loads is no big deal as long as I don’t have to haul all that stuff back and forth throughout the house. Plus, who wants all that laundry in the public areas of their homes. I fold everything on my bed when it comes out of the dryer. To me, second floor laundries make more sense than anything.
  9. Hahaha! We are also two introverts married together. Our last house was huge for entertaining with several guest rooms. I also had tons of serving pieces for the grand parties that we were going to have. We never did. We grew up, downsized, had an estate sale for all that entertaining stuff, and are happier than ever!
  10. Why did Brett put in cream kitchen cabinets in this week’s episode (1928 Craftsman) when the homeowner specifically stated that she wanted a white kitchen? I hate it when he combines cream cabinets with white countertops and backsplashes. It just looks ugly. JMO. I liked the rest of the house though, especially the fireplace.
  11. Cutest. Couple. Period. Best wishes to them! Glad to see Chip and Joanna helping such a deserving young couple.
  12. Did anyone else cringe in the Victorian episode when Brett destroyed that beautiful $15,000 sideboard to make a bar? I love most of what he does, but that just bothered me too much.
  13. That Wisconsin episode was really annoying! That woman should have been overjoyed that her husband had achieved his dream job. Instead, she whined and cried like a spoiled child. She had so much to be thankful for (beginning with a wonderful husband who could afford an $850,000 house for her!) but she concentrated on her lost dream home next to apartment buildings. I hope that she has learned to put this all in perspective or else he will grow to resent her for the guilt trip that she keeps laying on him.
  14. Their new “Behind the Design” show may be starting soon, but I won’t be watching it, that’s for certain. They previewed the show last season, and I was so bored by it that I quit watching. Jo’s designs are so uninspired and monotonous that I can’t bear to watch the show about them. Just freed up my Tuesday nights!
