Cindy McCain is everything Meghan isn't. She's so right, it's not even about party anymore.

She needs to have a talk with her daughter about that.  For all her "my father" talk her mother seems to be someone to be admired.

Dear Sara, appointing SCOTUS justices is part of the balance of power, the only remedy the exec branch has to keep the SC from holding exclusive power. You yourself said you didn’t like it leaning too far one way. Adding justices will alleviate this. You can’t have it both ways.

Sometimes it's better to just not say anything.  I think Sara thinks she has to add something to every conversation.

I found Sara's comments about the perfect storm problematic. But I have a feeling she didn't realize what she was implying.

Words matter. Sara has been doing this long enough to know she needs to be more articulate when talking about something so troubling. If Joy had said what she said it would have been news on every right wing media outlet.

I have a feeling these talking points were given to her by MeAgain's producer.

Meghan would have definitely said "perfect storm".  She would have said "while I condemn any kidnapping plot (she wouldn't have used the word terrorism) this is what can happen when you try to take away people's freedoms. It was a perfect storm and something about the flag".

I too am tired of the Sara-bashing.

I am not Sara bashing. I am simply commenting on what I hear and see onscreen.  She has made remarks that seem sympathetic to something she says she is against.   She wouldn't be the first blond on this show to be told what to say while onscreen.

My criticism isn’t bashing. Sara is a lovely person, very sweet and kind, wanting to be open to all opinions. But on a panel with such outspoken women she seems so vanilla and being non controversial comes across as ill informed.

Sara IMO comes across as a person who can discuss politics with her friends but is not suited to talking politics with three co hosts (and Whoopi) who are more seasoned in political discussions.   As mentioned by other posters for more light hearted topics she's your gal.

This show was never meant to be a political show, it was supposed to be about women chatting about life over coffee, yes politics would eventually come up but it was not the main issue..

This show became a political show when politics became breaking news every day. Also when politicians became media savvy.  Back in the day politicians were only interviewed on news networks.  But with social media they were everywhere.  I actually miss the days when I only knew who the elected officials were in my own state.  Jaime Harrison said something Friday that really stood out to me. He quoted Lindsay Graham as saying he wanted to stay relevant.  What happened to politicians wanting to do what is right for their constituents?

CLEARLY, the season finale of Season 7, which aired last night, was taped BEFORE Arnold's was Chachi burned down Arnold's. Because the original Arnold's was there, along with the original booths in "Ralph's Family Problem" that aired last night.

And Joanie had that cute pony tail and the vibe between her and Chachi were the pre "Maybe" and "Dapper" and kisses.

And from imdb, I discovered that we learn that Richie joined the Army during what would have been his final year of college. Ralph also joined the Army, though I don't remember if the show addressed it. We'll find out tonight. But we lost both Ronny, er, I mean Ron Howard and Don Most.

And get saddled with ROGER and Jenny Frackin' Piccolo.

I have never understood why they didn't address RH and DM leaving the show at the end of season 7. Did the network and/or writers not know? Wouldn't someone have known their contracts were up? If it was up to me Season 7 would have been the final season and Ritchie and Lori Beth getting married would have been the final episode.

I watch a lot of TV series on DVD and streaming from all different decades and I have come to the conclusion that writers/producers from before the late 80s thought their audience wouldn't notice or care about things. The continuity on this show left a lot to be desired.

I don't get all the Sara hate though.

I don't think anyone here said they hated Sara.  Since the show came back in September she has said some things that seem empathetic to people that I myself consider questionable.

It's interesting that her bizarre comments have not been picked up by the media sites. She is just that inconsequential.

Unlike Meghan (and Joy and Whoopi and Sunny) she isn't known outside the View universe. I mean for fuck sake she had  her own show with her name in the title and people still don't know who she is.

Now maybe I shouldn't post about what happened or was discussed on today's show because I didn't watch it, and I don't want to veer off topic, but I feel STOOPID when I ask this: What does "Packing the Supreme Court" mean?

Yesterday they talked about the VP debate and I don't remember if it was Senator Blackburn that brought it up but the topic was whether Biden would add more SCOTUS members.

I think Sara has been asked to play a role, particularly because with Meghan out, there aren't really any conservative or moderate voices on the show. (Ana is obviously a Republican, but she's such a Never Trumper that she doesn't come across as recognizably conservative most of the time.) It's possible that I'm biased, though, because I really like Sara and a lot of the things she's been saying lately just don't sound like her.

If this is true then shame on her.  Years ago there was a pundit on Bill Maher's HBO show who was on the left  and he told Bill a pundit very famous on the right told him he only did it because there was more money on that side.  I understand Sara is a team player and yadda yadda  yadda but as she keeps saying things that are happening aren't changing her vote so why say something that sounds sympathetic to a truly horrific thing?

I might be a little sensitive because Whitmer is my governor and I'm still pissed and horrified by what happened, but was Sara kind of blaming the victim by saying that all the executive orders she issued -- to keep everyone SAFE FROM THE CORONAVIRUS -- contributed to the "perfect storm" of a terrorist group plotting to kidnap and probably kill her?!

Perfect storm my ass.  There is no excuse for plotting to kidnap a governor and put her on trial for something because you disagree with her policies and actions.

So do we think this is Sara or do we think this is a role Sara has been told to play a role?  I'm pretty good at reading people but she is tough to get a line on.    I just don't understand how she can think the kidnapping plot was just the result of a "perfect storm".

Thank god Meghan wasn't there. I had enough of her excusing all the gun toting protestors when they were at the Michigan capital back in the spring.  I feel like the perfect storm line would have come out of Meghan's mouth if she had been there today.

I also wish they had more deeply explored Carrie and Big's relationship problems.  There was an interesting idea there about exploring what happens after "the happily ever after" vibe of the ending of the first movie, and how a couple can survive without the relationship being dramatic all the time.

By the time the second movie came around SATC had become superficial.   It was all about the clothes and I say this as a fan who absolutely loved the series and first movie. During the series the clothes were like  bit part cast members. You noticed them but they didn't take away from the plot. Unless they were a plot point (usually Carrie's shoes).  The first movie the clothes were promoted to supporting cast members. But the second movie they were like the fucking lead characters.  There was so much ripe material for a good plot with where the characters were at in their lives but it was wasted. I think most of us here could have written a better story outline than what those writers wrote.

Joy mentioned Borgen, earlier this week, as a great series to watch. I loved this series and it is a lot more interesting than she made it sound. Def worth watching.

Whoopi mentioned Vampires vs. the Bronx, which is a movie, and we watched it this evening and it is also def watching. Quite good.

I cannot remember the other hosts' recommendations. I think Ana said Nurse Ratchet, which I will def watch.

Either Sunny or Sara said Lovecraft Country. I couldn't tell which because of all the crosstalk but I definitely heard one of them say that.

This really annoyed me. I wanted an answer.

People like her never answer a question they know they don't have an acceptable answer to. Meghan will also not answer questions her cohosts ask her if she knows they will call her out on  her answers.

'Long haul' as a term became popular about around three or four months into the pandemic because doctors were noticing effects similar to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/Myalgic Encephalomyelitis but the diagnosis of CFS/ME can only be made after six months of continuing effects. Those who get over it after a few months are the lucky ones; doctors anticipate that when this is done, there will be a lot of people who survive Covid-19 but develop CFS/ME and have permanent limited ability to work.

There are lots of auto immune diseases that are thought to be caused by viruses.  I think this pandemic will cause us to see an uptick in auto immune diseases being diagnosed over the next few years.

It will be years before we know the full impact of covid 19.

Not to mention, it was way too far-fetched that they ran into each other in another country.

That is one of the worst plot devices. People running into each other in places they don't normally frequent just to facilitate the next plot move. I don't know if Abu Dhabi tourism bureau paid the producer outrageous sums of money or not but pretty much everything that happened in Abu Dhabi could have happened in NYC and Carrie and Aidan running into one another would have been totally believable.

I’ll definitely get her book eventually—she looks great on the cover, btw—but I’ll be waiting until there’s been several price drops… These kinds of books aren’t really my thing most of the time anyway, so I don’t really want to pay over $10-12 for them. Still, I’m interested to read this to some degree. I’ve been tempted by Mariah’s book which just came out, too, and I LOLed when I saw that Sunny’s book is priced higher than Mariah’s on Amazon right now.

I have Mariah's book on my reserve list at the library. They have Sunny's book but only on Kindle right now and I really don't like reading books that way but if they don't get a hard cover in I might have to.

More specifically on Kenneth Starr. They were unusually blatant about which current politician's headline's they were ripping from with the opening at Fort Clinton which is a bit unusual as they usually tried to at least file off the serial number even if it was obvious to anyone who followed the news at all. Here's a good contemporary look at the background and how the TV critics saw it at the time  - https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/bs-xpm-1999-02-17-9902170231-story.html

It's annoying as there is no good reason just another example of how one of the top 5 performers in all of cable is handled so lazily by the networks that carry it, with the exception of the late lamented TNT. I was unable to find the interview again, but I remember Dick Wolf talking about how they managed to get the rights so the other half of the crossovers could be shown in syndication and TNT did show the conclusions at times in the past. I'm sure they still could and probably could even get permission to list it as Law & Order in the channel guides so DVRs picked it up. But that would require a modicum of effort and respect for the viewers so it is impossible.

A library in my area has Law & Order on dvd and the seasons with Homicide crossovers have those episodes.   Another library has Homicide Life on the Street so I would be able to watch the crossover episodes one way or the other.

I'm surprised Homicide doesn't stream anywhere.

Like Joy, I don't really believe there are "undecided" voters... I think it's a case of people who are too embarrassed to say who they're voting for (whoever that may be), for whatever reason. I don't agree with her that Biden should skip the debates--doesn't harm him to attend--but I do agree with her that he has nothing to gain from the debates other than to say he attended them and did his duty. He also has nothing to lose by attending them, imo. It's more of a case of "Why not?" for me in regards to the debates, because like her I doubt anyone will be swayed from who they'll vote for anyway.

Biden has to go. If he doesn't Trump will say he is incapacitated or something along those lines.

And I also agree with Joy. For someone who isn't a die hard supporter of either candidate they might not want anyone to know who they are voting for.  Meghan will never tell us who she is voting for.

There are lots of huge Ana fans here. I like her too and think she's a good chick. But I absolutely believe one reason she's praised so much is because everyone looks so much better in comparison to Meghan. Ana's absolutely said stuff that I've found stupid years ago on other shows tbh. I can't get into it because it would be OT.

I think there is a lot of truth in that.  I didn't know who she was until I started watching the View again.  I only know of her as a Republican who hates Trump.  And a sane sounding one compared to Meghan.

I didn't like the second movie because it felt like they maybe had 30 minutes of actual story and nearly two hours of filler.

I agree. I can watch the beginning till they go overseas and a little bit of the ending.  Whoever thought going to Abu Dhabi  was a good idea was clearly wrong.
