  1. I don't really blame KC, (I do resent what it seemed to do to the show, IMO as a viewer) but I think breaking into the genre/comic franchises gives some mighty big contracts and steady work, possibly even movie work and lots of exposure and at the very least some regular convention income, if you want to put in the time. I think KC knows the game and is trying to play it very hard.

Holding out for and onto BC, gives her ongoing publicity, if anything comes of that rumour about a big screen version of BC, she might have a shot, or at the very least have her name appear in various articles about it.

Being associated and having comic fan support may also help get other bigger better parts in other movies. Her main swell of support didn't occur, IMO, until she became BC and was, finally, relatively inoffensive because she was just hanging around in the background.

Holding onto BC/GA was a way to hold onto a paying job and try to boost her popularity. Sure she was 2nd billed, but she had been essentially replaced by EBR and most of her role/back-story had been replaced by Sara too. So when you look at the support for EBR/SA and fan content that is generated out of love for the character and actors and Olicity, who wouldn't want that? It's been written that SA's & CH's twitter followers both got them roles (CH/Arrow & SA/TMNT). So if the rumours are true she was under threat on 2 fronts, form both Felicity and Sara, I think she played it quite smart managing hold onto the role for another 2 seasons, by holding out for LL becoming the BC.  Trying to hold out for GA/BC could have helped her keep her job longer if KC could have made it happen.

It only seemed fair since I've posted crack-like "Felicity is an evil villain" stories to post one where Laurel is thrown to the dogs.  It's awful (Laurel is very OOC) and yet after hearing that KC really did play LL as always in love with Oliver, perhaps hilariously close to at least someone's truth.  Lol.

    Yikes!

  3. Eurovison is hugely popular in Australia and has been broadcasted for years since 1983, (we had such high amount of European immigrants and kids of immigrants who grew up watching it), so last year we go invited as a one-off special contestant and we got invited back again.

  4. Just finished watching the Eurovision coverage, it was really enjoyable. Loved the host performing during the voting interval, and super impressed that Australia did so well. Yay!

  5. I'd prefer together but separated physically, but I guess moving towards a reconciliation, while frustrating could be OK. I just get bummed that everything gets glossed over so quickly, especially since the show just work better when they are not actively contriving to keep Olicity separated for plot-purposes.

According to multiple reports, this is pretty much how all CW shows earn the majority of their revenue - not through live broadcast, but post-views.

Nielsen adds the DVR views to their estimates for plus 3 and plus 7 ratings, which networks look at since those can be indicators of later post view revenue (DVD sales, etc.) The studio/network gets a direct cut of all iTunes, Amazon and other online streaming subscriptions. Those are one time payments, but studios can generally get added information about which episodes get rewatched, and can get information about what scenes are rewatched. With Hulu, the studio/network is paid a tiny amount for each view. Netflix is sometimes a one time licensing payment, sometimes a per episode payment, depending, but Netflix tracks everything - not just how many times something is watched, but where viewers stop watching, what scenes are rewatched, how many episodes of a show people tend to marathon through, that sort of thing, and networks can request/pay for that information.

@quarksYou've inspired me to do a carefully planned netflix rewatched of S3 >).

I actually wonder if limited VOD actually hurt Supergirl. I forget to catch up on things if I can't find it on hulu and even though I liked Supergirl's first 2 episodes I kept forgetting to catch up and once I missed more than 5 episodes, I decided to wait for Netflix. (this also happened with Limitless)

  7. I agree, I think Arrow was still showing the repercussions of the Earthquake and Moira's/Bloods executions through early season 4. The city changed it name because the council was trying to save it and stop citizen leaving, (They gave Ray Palmer way more kudos than he deserved). Star City is always being painted as this terrible place to now live in and this actually confuses me because Central City is full of Meta Humans causing mass amounts of killings/crime sprees/property damage yet it is never painted as an undesirable location or place to live.

Those reviewers are confusing "Arrow" with "Flash".

I will also never get over how Barry got a "Flash Day" after causing the events that put CC in danger, then taking credit for saving it and he was teasing Oliver about saving his city so he can get a coffee named after him. Grrr...

  8. The reason I think they will get back together is because Oliver needs to counteract a juiced up Darhk with "light & hope".

4.20 pretty much put Felicity breaking off the engagement on par with the death of all Oliver's loved ones which caused Oliver to fail magic school. He was then able to have enough hope after Felicity took back "You can't change/Will always be the man on the island" to counter Dhark later that episode.

Now that Dahrk has caused 10,000 deaths Oliver's going to need a lot more "light and hope", especially if Thea goes rogue (which I hope does not happen). I think he will also get a boost from the support of the citizens of Star City, but his main boost will most likely come from Felicity giving him some hope. I'm not sure about John he seems pretty down right now.

I'm also OK with them getting back together by end of season 4. The reason they have to Oliver lying to Felicity and hiding William form her were a lot more nonsensical than the ones I believe they will use to justify a reunion. So far

    • Felicity's stance that Oliver won't change has been lessened, she saw him being much different in they way he is dealing with Laurel's death as opposed to Tommy's or Moira's where he ran away and again to Sara's where he closed himself off emotionally.
    • He is letting her in on his thoughts and feelings (Limo scene/Why I blame myself) providing support to Diggle and didn't resisted her accompanying him to Hub City even though he was worried it would be dangerous.
    • Also with all the hits that Felicity took in that last few and upcoming episodes, she might want some of his support and belief in her to help get her through the loss of Laurel, the 10,000 deaths, the loss of her Position at PT, feeling about her Father and anything that may crop up with him and Donna.

She also knows that Oliver intends to never lie to her again and that he still loves her,  when something terrible happens you want to be with loved one.

  9. I knew ABC was going to cancel my faves when the new president was brought in but sad about Agent Carter and Super sad about Galavant. There are others I'm disappointed about like like the AOS spin-off

Eh, I kinda am, haha. Though I've appreciated the last two seasons spreading the focus on the other characters as well. I now adore  Winston, whereas I could take him or leave him before. :)

He has been MVP for me this season.

I just found out I'm working Sunday morning (even though I asked for it off) which means I'm going to be missing part of the convention. I'm hoping it's all Flash and LOT stuff so I don't miss anything.

That sucks is there anyway to get out of it?

Also, wouldn't there be a panic after everyone and their mother realizes that someone just threw a nuclear bomb on a city. Wouldn't governments be all over this, news and other forms of media? Is everyone just going about their day while Oliver saves his sister? Because she isn't exactly unsafe and while she is captured (which is bad) she isn't going to die like the whole planet will. So that doesn't matter more?

Wasn't there scenes of rioting/looting filmed for the finale, (where Oliver gives a speech, which I assume that will be him leading and generating hope in people so that he can counter Dark's magic)?

I only remember that in 4x06 they had a scene with Oliver, Thea and Alex and Felicity was supposed to be there as well because she was the money of the operation.

Lol! My personal head cannon has always been, everyone knows Oliver does not care about money and has no real concept of spending wisely, so he would not be trusted with the finances regardless of Felicity being a major donor or just as his significant other.

  13. I like Thea a lot, but I hope they don't loose the momentum that was built this week to "rescue" her from the ark.

There is only a 24 hour buffer on the nukes so far, rescuing Thea should not be a priority. Anarky gave them a big road map the Death Star-esque flaw. They should be aiming to ruin the Ark so the plan to nuke the world and survive underground is not viable.

Yeah, I think that's the plan - to have all of his followers reproduce and live underground until it's safe to go back up again.

Essentially his plan is to become the leader of a bunch of in-bred mole people.

  15. I'll give POTUS a pass on calling Felicity an IT girl, because I assume Lyla didn't give away their secret identities just their function in TA.

I also noticed that Noah imply that he has been keeping watch on Felicity's Hacking. This could be how he recognised "Overwatch" as her handy-work. I now wonder about his opinion on Cooper.

Donna over-sharing about Felicity's conception, delightfully awkward. Donna as QL's "moral compass"????? Confusing.

I loved Oliver's absolute faith in Felicity, and the caper was a nice call back to S1, but a little more Olicity please!

I feel bad for Felicity, I hope people at PT get behind her to say she was a great boss, but I can definitely do without PT being mentioned again. Also she is going to carry that guilt of 10,000 people around for a long time. It weird because I could have bought Felicity's emotions in the Limo, being over Dark making her cause so many death, rather than just Laurel's, but alas that scene has passed.

  17. I really don't think that meshes fully with what was on screen, for me. The lying seems to be the main complaint in the fic, and while I think Felicity was upset and hurt by it, she wasn't as upset about it as she was about the exclusion from Oliver's decision making and struggles about Spawn. It also implied behaviour far worse from Oliver than what I saw in Season 4. (There is a lot of ambiguity about Oliver visiting Central City).

For me the timing is also really off, this is not a scene to be missing from 4.20 is way too late for Felicity to still be that bitter especially given what we've seen in show. Maybe after the Cupid episode and even then she was upset and hurt but I don't think that fic captured Felicity's voice in that episode, either.
