That said, this storyline is the biggest bunch of bullshit that's ever been bullshitted. And I'm blaming NORA, not Barry.

Can't we blame both Nora and Barry?

Barry for making Crisis happen and Nora for bringing the timeline forward by 5 years (That's 5 years Oliver could have had with his family)?

  2. EBR not coming back for S8, is actually hampering my ability to enjoy S7. I still haven't caught up with the latest episodes since hiatus. From what I can tell there's not much reason to at all. Given my location, I'm always playing catch-up it was easy to tell that the episodes since EBR's announcement were not what I would be interested in.

I need to know that there is potential for S8 to turn everything around at the end. I Honestly think I won't catch up unless I know that Felicity will be in the S8 especially the Finale. Otherwise the way they are treating Olicity make no sense.

  3. I will never forgive/never forget the HIMYM mess.

In a completely opposite vein, one where a show (Well the Fan-won mini-series)) had a pretty great ending (for me). This article reminded me of how much I loved Farscape. John and Aeryn and their journey. *Sigh*

Journey was mostly as fun as the destination, and they out there concepts, but they never forgot their main ship.

  4. Even if they did have Emily locked down for some of S8, they might not reveal it because it would be a major spoiler. These people loooove writing towards "Gottcha!" moments and sacrificing logical story-telling for surprises.

I predict once the S7 finale airs and Felicity is written out there will be  slew of speculation articles about likelihood of her appearing in season 8, and 1st possible official hint about this, that we may get could only be at SDCC, if not later.

  5. They could try to bring Willa  back, I know she left with some bad blood, but female lead might tempt her. back I think if you bring it back to the Queen Family it might be better, do something crazy like bring back Tommy, but please no more focus on Birds and Dogs.

It would be hard to make KM female lead unless the season is for the majority set in the future and then the storyline would need to have a Queen family (Oliver, William & Mia) mission focused on getting Felicity back from some sort of adversity to have my interest and a possibility of a happy ending is a must

I wouldn't be opposed to Alena coming in as a regular, but I don't think she could fully step into the void. She would be a nice connection to Felicity though. I'm not sure how I'll be watching but I watch hours behind anyway.

The other thing they could do is take Arrow completely away from Star City, we know the future is a dumpster fire anyway, leave Renee and Dinah there to mess it up, put Oliver/Digg on some mission trying to get back to their families, Bronze Tiger can come too, but once again I would need hope for an Olicity Happy reunion post COIE.

  6. This was a disappointing shock to wake up to. 😥 As everyone has stated interest in Season 8 has just plummeted.

Ever since we saw the birth in the flash-forward scenes I had a tiny little worry in the back of my mind that the Story was accomodating EBR's exit and unfortunately it seems to be true. Now I just need the niggling worry about killing off Future Felicity to go away. Please, please please don't let this happen. They have been basically giving us everything we ever wanted for Felicity/Olicity this season, just need the future reunion of Oliver and Felicity. I need hope for the future 20 years is already too long!

It feels like Crisis on infinite Earth is trumping have a decent natural ending for Arrow, it can just piss off IMO.

While I'm happy for EBR to do what she wants to do, I'm not in a happy place about Arrow.

So now we have a Canary Episode, then 3 episodes through to the season finale to try and Enjoy some decent Queen Family time. It won't be enough, I guess I'm free sooner than I thought, but not sure what I'll do with all this spare time, not obsessing about Arrow. I'll probably spend it still picking at Arrow, checking in, being disappointed, hoping for a Season Finale Olicity return. *sigh*.

I will miss this board so much...even though I mostly lurked the last few years, it's always been my favourite place.

If they want to make Star City 2040 a Series they should probably announce now and keep the flash-forwards out of Season 8, because I think I'll be just depressed if Felicity is missing form the future cause she is dead and if not, would they have Oliver there but without Felicity, it would be so bitter-sweet since they just had a presumed 20 YEARS APART.

The ties to Olicity is what Anchor the future scene IMO, more Dinah or Roy is not going to cut it.

  7. The sad thing is that we already know Oliver has missed out on William’s formative years, it’s just uppsetting to think he could possibly miss out on Mia’s whole childhood as well. That is why I don’t like the idea of a 20 year seperation.

I’m hoping for a shorter than expected separation or a reset like Fringe did.

Hopefully everyone learnt something for the HIMYM debacle, I think the EPS even lost a pilot order because of it.

  8. Well I was not ready for that announcement. Actually season 8 being the final season, I knew it was a possibility but not that it would be only 10 episodes. I don't think I can watch SA's FB Live. 😞

I'm glad that, if they only had him for a limited run they are not trying to space the appearances out over 23 episodes and hopefully there will be a tighter scripted episode run.

I hope COIE, if we must have it, is episode 8 and then I would suspect they would have 9 & 10 play back to back as the finale.

Also I hope this talk about EBR is just speculation.

LOT love taking Arrows and Flash's left overs though. So I say sending them BS would be welcomed.

Welcomed by Arrow fans maybe. 😉

But seriously, KC moving to Legends has been coming up/being speculated for years now, but Legends has shown very little interest in having her on the show at all.  Even that year she supposedly had a “multi-series” contract, she only had a small one-scene appearance in the season finale.  I don’t see it happening.  But I suppose I’ve been unpleasantly shocked where KC is concerned, so I won’t say it’s impossible.  I’ll just say I think it’s very unlikely, and is mostly wishful thinking either by Arrow fans that want her off the show, or Laurel/KC fans wanting her to have a larger role/more relevance.

I agree if LOT was going to take her they would have done so by now. Here's a thought, let's send her over to Batwoman. If not BS then DD...please at least one of them. 🥺

Lost Canaries can be the episode to transition whoever over to the new show.

Guys time to do math! When is she due?

    Which ep will it be????

    I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!!!!

In E7.08 they went from Olicity having sex to BlackStar's introduction scene, for me that was always the Conception Transition. Which makes birth around September to October plausible. Like what @bijoux said.

It honestly feels like the writers have just decided: "We've got Katie in a contract. We have to use her for something. I see people want her redeemed. Whatever. I don't care either way to be honest. Let's just say she's redeemed and move on."

That sums up how they have dealt with KC for years...just look at her Black Canary story.

I'm concerned that because Lance (her previous best scene partner) is gone, and the scenes with EBR are pretty tolerable, compared to the last 6 seasons of KC on Arrow, plus Katie is finally acting in her wheelhouse, they will make EBR her main scene partner constantly. It's annoying how much Oliver and Felicity are split to make Dinah and BS relevant.

  13. The pilot wasn't horrible and I don't mind Max & Liz (I wasn't really invested in then in the original), but somethings were disappointing for me.

    Spoiler

I was so into Maria  & Michael in the original so I was bummed that they seem to be going with Michael/Alex and Maria seems side-lined. Michael seemed really immature.

I agree with @tv echo about the actors, the original show was so bad towards the end that I forgot how much chemistry was in the original cast.

  14. I thought it was OK, but it was weird trying to reconcile the 90's show & books with NuRoswell. I think for some I prefer old cast particularly Isabel and Michael. But Liz and Max seem alright. Maria and Alex I'm on the fence about. Even though it was a hot mess by the time it ended I did miss the 90's show watching this one.

I think the main disappointment for me is that they won't likely have Maria and Michael, which was my MAJOR ship watching this show and in the books. And I hope Maria isn't side-lined since she was such a favourite.

I will give it a few more episodes.

I never knew that there were books! Who's the author?

Melinda Metz was the author, the books were fairly different to the 90's show imo, but I enjoyed reading them...but can't remember how they ended.

What cracks me up is on when I read comments on the Arrow twitter page and people comment about the lack of Olicity, OTA etc and someone always jumps in to give a lecture on how you're not a real fan if you only watch it for Olicity.

I'm thinking "We are all watching a third rate show on the CW ffs. There is no superiority to claim here!"

Do the lead's screen times usually reduce this much though even for CW? I remember TVD and The Originals and it seemed like the main characters Elena, Stephen, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie, Klaus, Elijah etc were all in it a lot. It didn't seem as noticeable to me cuz I sometimes only watch Felicity plus Diggle scenes and there are barely any to watch! It's all.....junk!

I honestly don't remember TVD and Originals being full of junk cast even if I didn't like the plot.

If we're only watching for Olicity, its probably because the show isn't giving us enough other stuff to be invested in. It was there but the show has either squandered it, or killed it off. Take for example the Flash Forwards this season, there was a lot of excitement and good will for them initially, but now many people are over them, for many reasons. For me they have taken away hope for the character's futures (even if Maya is the Olicitot, something must have gone really wrong for Oliver and Felicity and the Family) as well as featuring a characters which we aren't invested in. I can understand dragging out the reveal of what's up with OTA, but they haven't balanced it out with story elements to keep me invested, hopefully there is a way to turn it around, but I not sure I trust the writers enough to do so.

With the Vampire Diaries they had a lot of characters you could root for besides the main love triangle stuff which the show was based upon, there was always drama and they gave storylines to cast member that could handle it. Beside my main ship on the show, it was still nice to see characters interacting with each other they built up friendships as well as relationships, I loved Bonnie and Damon's Friendship. When Klaus spun off to the originals I could still enjoy Karoline's story arc as well as Klaus' separately because there were lots of other things to get invested in. When there was annoying or bad stuff, and there was plenty, there was also a lot of other storylines/character are I could get into (also I binged the last 2 seasons on Netflix). Arrow simply doesn't have that anymore, binging Arrow leads to a lot of fast-forwarding, which I don't do with other shows.

I remember last season of Arrow being excited to see Nyssa during Thea's farewell episode, because as stupid as LOA storyline was it wasn't as bad as NTA. There was a lot of stuff that was squandered IMO, because of plot or because of DC mandated it and as a non-comics person "Because Comics "is not enough of a reason for me to enjoy or accept something which I simply don't. When a show is done well I'm watching for a lot more elements than a Ship, but I'm a shipper at heart so I always like that element being in my shows, as a little enhancement.

Also the talk about "true fans" is bullshit, if you are watching and invested in something in the show, you're a fan. Gatekeeping won't cause the writers to give you what you want and expecting a comic to survive as live action based solely on accurately recreating  each panel and plot point isn't going to cut it. There simply isn't enough in comics for a 3D element like television. The same can be said for books too. I'm a reader and I get excited at thought of my favourite books being turned into movies or television, but I have to accept that there will be changes and moments I loved or deemed important may not be so in a different medium. I either have to accept it and move on or stop  watching, most of the time I peace out because if I'm not enjoying it, then I will rather forget about the TV show/Movie  and continue to enjoy the books instead.

Wasn't it that CW was negotiating a new affiliation deal and it was actually up in the air as to whether CW would exist at all? I at least remember that being a guess as to why they set up a reunion for them in 423 but dropping it last minute (and also for s5 until the end of that season), especially when SA said the last scene with Olicity was very different originally.

I have no idea...I assumed that S5 Olicity reunion was delayed because of Cross over wedding.

  17. I watched the pilot and an episode or 2, and while I appreciated the workout scenes, I left fArrow or over a year until I was told how good Olicity was. Then I started bingeing until I caught up mid-way through S2. I didn't doubt that they were writing towards Olicity, but I was confused that they did not kill off/get rid of, Laurel.

I've seen shows that swerve towards a different LI (for whatever reasons) but they always get rid the exisiting one, and frankly Laurel, who was a problematic character, with an actor that did not deliver, confused me by her continued existence.

Sarah, seemed to me to be an obvious roadblock to Olicity and a tick box for GA/BC cannon on/off relationship, so I wasn't so bothered by the swerve, but did miss the Olicity scenes. And I was so confused when they didn't write her in as reoccurring BC and get rid of Laurel permanently.

When they finally did kill off the character it was 2 seasons later and what I think was the most problematic time for the Ship, that loooong stretch between the season 4 break-up and the season 5 steps towards reconciliation. It was well over a season and I'm not sure what the benefit was besides slowing it down for the Cross-over wedding which unnecessary IMO, (I binged and Fast Forwarded my way through that painful Season 5 it was hard). I didn't understand why they were so hell bent on keeping Olicity away form each other especially after the final Olicity scene in season 4, their whole interaction was just puzzling. But for me the Susan thing, while gross, seemed a way to emphasis that Oliver was not going to hook-up with he new Black Canary, by having him in a firmly in relationship (though it was puzzling to the audience) during her introduction.

Frankly season 5 was the worst I saw of the ship stalling for Olicity.

  18. My head-cannon is less Oliver being judgy of Felicity, or believing that she should not have a gun, and more Oliver feeling guilty and frustrated about leaving Felicity (& William) vulnerable and projecting that onto her (which is something most people are guilty of doing to loved ones). Also there was probably a slight bit of resentment that she wouldn't go back into witness protection like he requested her to, and now it appears things have turned out for the worse. Plus adjusting to being outside in the real world and having some unexpected vulnerabilities. I like this better as an explanation because it's human and explains away some crappiness, in character actions/reactions.

I also think Oliver is upset that Felicity has "changed" because it has happened due to a decision he unilaterally made for them, and there's the guilt of being the cause of the events that have brought about this change. This "new" Felicity means she suffered and he was helpless to protect her (& William) and that is also means that now he's back, she still isn't trusting him to protect her, which had always been something she does, in the past.

He is also, IMO, freaking out that that she is dealing with people like Anatoly and Laurel who are unreliable allies, plus she has move-on/grown in a significant way and all without him. Also Felicity is beating up on herself which Oliver is disputing (badly delivered lines here IMO) since, for him, "old Felicity" isn't weak and Oliver fell in love with her, in spite of himself and because she wasn't weak. Also I assume he doesn't realise how crappy a support system Diggle/Argus/NTA were for her....i'm so very bitter this probably won't be addressed.

I think if the scene was directed/acted differently it could easily match my head cannon, even with the same dialogue, hence the I just want to think the show refused to spend the proper time to explain it, for cross-over and plot related reasons like, "lets make it look like there is trouble for Olicity".

YMMV but I'm happy to have this head-cannon to get me to the point that I'm OK with the reconciliation and even the additional not telling Felicity in Crisis Cross-over, cause guilt can make you do additional shitty things, and this could be why even Oliver was beating up on himself as "dark".

I'm bitter that a couple of tweaks would have made this easily on-screen cannon, but until they show some direct contradiction, i'm going with it.  To be frank, I think they have done worse in the past, LoA/Al-Sahim and pretending to murder them plot and pretty much all of Season 5 are worse for me.

  19. I wouldn't be surprised that Oliver & Felicity have some relationship defining moments in the x-over this year, because as everyone has mentioned, there is precedent.

I feel like some of the brevity of Olicity's scenes last week was in service of the x-cross. They messed with the timing of the Olicity reunion in S5/S6 (IMO) so that they could have the double wedding last year. The fight last week should have come to more of a resolution but, I think, they wanted it so that Barry-Oliver has his Freaky Friday reveal scene with Diggle so it was left with a lot of Olicity tension.

I'm also not surprised that they are dropping more hints about Felicity's appearance after the reception of 7.08 because, so far they have given me nothing as an Arrow-fan or an Olicity-fan to induce me to watch. And I'm not surprise if other Olicity-fans may not be inclined to watch it. I have never watched the 100th episode of Arrow, because I don't think that x-over arc was worth watching and I have not felt any regret.

I was planning on watching this year because I will have access tot he episodes, which has been a problem in the past, and I do think there will be some Olicity focus, but I'm not looking forward to it like last year, and I resent that it is the mid-season finale because things got shifted for the Flashes 100th.
