One house for the family in Flagstaff would make sense in a way. Dayton seems like a Brown household lifer, but six of the other nine kids that are moving there will be in HS by the time they get there. They said that Gabe, Gwendlyn and Aurora will be juniors, so Ysabel will be a sophomore while Breanna and Savannah will be freshmen. And they said they'd be living in rentals for that school year anyway while the house was being built. So by the time they get settled in this thing, that batch of kids will be on their way out the door. They will be down to just four kids, Dayton, Truely, Solomon and Ariella. Even if Robin pops out one more, there would be a 1:1 adult to kid ratio. They can design the house however they want, where each wife has her own wing with a locking door. Four houses would be tremendous overkill with only four or five kids going forward.

Weird plan. Southern Utah is about the most Polygamous friendly place imaginable. They are all over the St George/Cedar City area. The B&B is nearby. It's so obvious. In fact if they didn't want to live "in Utah" the FLDS has mostly abandoned Colorado City, AZ which is just over the state line. There are tons of abandoned houses that were built specifically for plural families that they are selling at fire sale prices. Why would they want to go to Flagstaff, clear on the other side of the Grand Canyon? You'd have to drive through Vegas in order to get to the B&B.

I am glad that there are so many goth gals contributing. One of these polygamy shows should feature a set of sister wives that doubles as a coven of witches. That would put all of these square mormon plural families out of business.

The Atlantic had an article several years back about the Enoch Foster family, and their cave houses. Amazing pictures. https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2012/11/polygamists-in-the-rock/100406/

Some plyg women swing both ways, obviously. I'm sorta surprised that none of them ever take advantage of lgbt marriage, with wife #2 marrying wife #3. Even if it's just for tax purposes.

It's funny they are always badmouthing the FLDS on this show. I get why they want to separate themselves from that, but in SW UT it is just not that big of a deal. They have lived side by side for generations, standing in the same lines and what not. They are like that area's Mennonites.

Why is he talking to Nate Carlisle? Man. If I were a plyg I wouldn't give the Salt Lake Tribune the time of day.

I can't believe that I am about to watch a TV show about a gal giving birth. What is wrong with me?

Heh. There are dozens of his sermons on you tube. They make a terrific sleep aid.

There are a lot more wealthy white gay men than wealthy white polygamists. In fact the stereotype for gay men is a well to do white couple living in a fancy home that is lavishly decorated. The stereotype for polygamists is a bunch of hillbillies living in some dusty old shabby compound consisting of shacks and trailers. Besides, what difference does it make? If we are going to dismiss the grievances of any group just because you can come up with a single example of a family that was able to succeed in spite of their situation, then no one would have a legit gripe. Hell the 0bamas spent eight years in the White House. Doesn't mean that all black people have it that great.

All you get is the other side of the argument everywhere else you look. It is a treat to get the polygamists' side for a change.

Mariah dragged Meri and Janelle across three time zones to support her lesbian-feminist cause, and she had reservations about driving across town to return the favor? That's just downright selfish right there. Glad she finally came around.
-
Aspyn probably will. She's with that guy from their Church. Mariah was all about it until she decided that she'd rather have just the sister wife, and no hubby.
-
I'm looking forward to this one. The law is unnecesary and outdated. The LDS Church and their puppets in the Utah legislature won't let it go because they want to create the perception that they fiercely object to polygamy.

Yeah, move to a state and play Russian Roulette with their courts, trying to get charged with a felony. That sounds like EXTRA fun. -

If Utah didn't intend to charge the Browns with Cohabitation when/if they return to the State, then they would have accepted Judge Waddoups' ruling that the State's cohabitation laws are unconstitutional. Instead, they doubled down and actually made them even more unconstitutional. It's not enough for Utah that Polygamy is illegal, they have their own unique law that says that they can't even "purport" to be married for religious purposes. Up-thread you claimed Utah didn't have any anti-polygamy laws that aren't laws across the Nation. Well yes they do, and this is it. The "purporting" clause. No other state has a law against dressing up for a legally fictitious wedding, and playing house. Utah does. Other states have laws against bigamy. Utah is the only state that has laws against cohabitation. They altered the law to say that cohabitation is only illegal if you "purport" to be married for "religious purposes." In short. It is a law specifically designed to attack the free speech of an unpopular religious group. Is there any part of the first amendment that this doesn't violate? -

That doesn't change the fact that the anti-cohabitation laws are discriminatory. If someone is abusing their wife or child, then charge them with domestic abuse, and leave moral finger wagging out of it. We don't keep anti-sodomy laws on the books that we can dust off in the event that a gay couple abuses a child. Abuse is abuse is abuse, regardless of weather the abuser is single, monogamous, polygamous, gay or straight. Abuse doesn't magically become worse just because the abuser happens to "cohabitate" with two or more women. The only reason they don't enforce the law now is because it is obviously unconstitutional. -

Untrue. A Judge (Waddoups) already ruled the Utah cohabitation laws unconstitutional after the Browns left, and the Utah Religiouslature reworded the laws so that it was once again a felony. Then they declared that the Browns didn't have standing to challenge the new wording of the law, since they no longer live in the State. So obviously the State isn't over it yet. -

Heh, as the boards lone hetero-male I wouldn't expect my opinions to be shared wide-spread. I don't agree that our anti-polygamy laws are pro-woman. It basically the govt declaring that adult women are too dumb to make their own decisions about how they want to build their own family. So from that vantage point I would have to agree with Mariah's friends. -

I'll concede that she cleaned up nicely for the talking heads. But the footage of her otherwise? All of a sudden even Mykelti's not looking so bad by comparison. -

It is funny to watch the paradigm shift. As teens, Mariah and Aspyn were the goodie goodies, heavily involved in their family's Church. Madison and Mykelti were the wild child types, appearing as though they are headed to be Vegas party girls, like Cousin Vikki in Vegas Vacation. As adults, Mykelti married a Mormon boy and Madison married a Minister's son. Mariah, who had been the only one to openly desire Plural Marriage and selected a college based on its proximity to the family Church, has instead become a militant, man-eating feminist. Aspyn is the only one of the four that stayed the course, as she appears to be interested in dating/marrying a polygamous fella. -

Mariah's friends were absolutely awful, and the GF was not even remotely cute. Mariah looked like the cute one, by comparison. For whatever reason I was hoping that all of them were her GFs, because it would amuse me if she was a polygamous "male" type gal with a bunch of adoring ladies.
