  1. I totally don't believe that. That type of woman wants to be on TV. Re. Molly and Luis, if I recall, Molly said they got hitched off camera without telling TLC.
  2. Not possible bc that's the premise of the show - they bring the foreign fiance to the US for 90 days of drama, uncertainty, culture shock and abject disapproval from loved ones.
  3. She may or may not be able to travel abroad until she gets a green card. Depends on what country she is from. I wish she would buy him some big boy BALLS!
  4. That's what they had been doing for the past two years. At some point, she wanted a ring, i'm sure. And he wanted her within reach at all times. IDK, they seem snooty and controlling to me. Even if they are polite.
  5. About he barber shop - that scene could NOT have been more staged! No way will a bunch of guys be that heavy handed and didactic with a guy they just met, insisting he not marry. They wouldn't give a damn. They might joke and say, "run!". But it seemed like the entire group spent 5 mins chanting in unison, "Do NO"T get married. Do NOT get married. Do NOT get married." If there are truly only a few Black guys in the area, you'd think, if anything, they'd encourage him to stay. OK, but he continued w/ his silent treatment into the next day! That's a sign of passive-aggression. He's a weak man whose hands are tied and has no leverage in this relationship. LOLOL I don't get it. He works at a resort and smashes tourists. He said when he and Kalani broke up bc she said she isn't really into brown guys, he thought, "oh well, back to doing what I normally do with women" (smashing). He literally said that to Kalani and Kalini right before the move to Utah. And he was not at all confused about what the condom was when Nick gave it to him. What are the cultural beliefs he's operating under? Sounds like just a random irresponsible guy to me. But I am genuinely curious how the beliefs might differ in Samoa.
  6. Ughhhh he is so unappealing. Nothing wrong w/ his looks. I'm talking about the Samoan Forrest Gump act. No way she didn't feel like she was abusing an invalid when she smashed. No way.
  7. So anyway, Jay does not have the benefit of institutionalized power, nor the feeling of superiority over Whites to be accurately labeled a racist. On the hierarchical ladder, he stands on a very low wrung, in his present situation. Racism, prejudice, bigotry and stereotype all mean different things. I don't think Black Nigerians staring at Angela and White Americans staring at Jay are the same thing at all. Angela was treated great there; there isn't centuries worth of Black oppression of White ppl in Nigeria. Totally different situation. Re. fernanda, I'm calling BS on the "confidence" claim. Truly confident ppl don't have to constantly remind everyone of how sexy they are and how good their body is, etc. Nor do they ask their boyfriends to buy them plastic boobs and throw tantrums over drunk people dancing w/ their boyfriends. I think she is actually rather insecure. I really don't understand Kalani et al's move to Utah. Are they planning on settling there permanently? If she wants to stay in LA, wouldn't it be a pain to try to interview for jobs, etc., from 6 hrs away. Why not just move in w/ her parents and focus on the job search?
  8. Nick (Kalani's brother) was really getting on my nerves w/ his sanctimonious finger wagging (even if what he was saying was right). He gives his soon-to-be BIL a condom the first time he meets him?? And then the other idiot says condoms are for slut ppl and he is a good person. (But admits to casually sexing women all around Samoa...which has resulted in ~at least~ one child he has no way of supporting. This whole family and everyone connected to it make me sick.
  9. A 4.0 gpa in high school? They start this 5 yr degree right out of high school? interesting!
  10. Who is "we"? Are you in the US? Or Indonesia? I'm trying to understand fully what you mean. I do tend to be aware of which nurses are nurse practitioners (highest level) vs RNs (next highest) vs the others (LPNs and others). And they all require vastly different levels and types of education. But in Indonesia anyone can become dr? There are no progressively-higher hoops to jump thru?
  11. See that is where my confusion lies. In the US, BA/BS programs are not necessarily difficult to enter. Some universities/colleges take pretty much any dinkus off the street who completed high school. Or even who dropped out but took a very basic test. But in the US, those wanting to practice medicine (and other professions), have to perform very well in the BA/BS curriculum, and study for a very rigorous standardized test. Then, they have to apply to medical schools which are highly selective and will accept applicants w/ only the best grades and best standardized test scores. Then they are raked over the coals for basically another 4 years. And they are selected for the top specialties, again based on performance. And then, they must pass medical board exams to be licensed. But in Indonesia some dumb slacker can roll into any mediocre university/college, perform in a lackluster manner there for 5 years and hang a DOCTOR shingle by their front door??? How are ppl even still alive there??? LOL
  12. It's not. We just don't know what was discussed.
  13. Was the conversation btwn Colt and Larissa regarding the purchase of the couch aired on tv?? If not, no one really knows what was said. If I recall, Colt's only broadcast thought on that topic was that he didn't want her to have his cc. Beyond that, we don't really know what he wanted or what was actually discussed.
  14. I worked in the registrar's office of a large university years ago and we developed "transfer credit articulation" software to organize all this. But if credits were obtained from a foreign (non Eng) school, detailed course descriptions would have to be requested, translated to Eng and evaluated by the academic advising staff. Sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes partial credit was articulated.
  15. I guess the same reason why some ppl on dating sites use old, thin, strangely lit, oddly angled pics in their profile? (Yeah, I don't get that one either...)
  16. Ooops, 12 days. They spent 5 days in Mexico. Then 7 more in Brazil. Yeah, I would hesitate to give someone I've known for 12 days my cc. But then I would also hesitate to bring the person to the US on a K-1 visa after 12 days as well. But honestly, why couldn't they have just taken a pic of the sofa and sent it to Colt for the OK? Btwn the Larissa and Debbie (plus cell phones), you'd think they could have handled that better. I'm still shook over what a mean old hag Debbie looked like in the car on that furniture shopping trip vs how adorable she looked on the Live Show. How does a simple hair trim and box dye job make that much difference!?
  17. That's good to know! Hopefully, she'll acclimate then. Jonathan wasn't in the military. The point is her boasting about having a sexy body. So what? She's supposed to. Nothing to brag about or feel must be shown off. Plus, some of it didn't come from hrs at the gym. Yes, exactly. She is full of herself. And nothing more than what half of other women her age have going for themselves. She had an accident? LOL An accidental pregnancy! All the other couples are engaged. Colt and Larissa aren't. They have known each other for 5 days. So it is a little more understandable that he would not trust her w/ his credit card. And not trust her to decorate the house, as she might not be staying. Yes, for them it is about testing the waters. They've made no commitment to marry.
  18. I was saddened by the harsh tone Eric was taking w/ Allessandro when he was having his little cranky crying fit. He very sternly told him "Just calm down!" And something else equally harsh before that. Did Eric really think taking that tone w/ a little kid would endear the kid to him? Or impress the family? So no one else heard Leida tell Eric her parents think he looks older than 40??? And I still don't understand why Leida and her family flew into JFK....on two separate days. Why didn't they all fly into Wisconsin, using a connecting flight if there was no direct flight? And all on the same day. And did the brother and sister actually need to come? Weren't the parents capable of assessing the situation and helping w/ Allessandro?
  19. Yeah, why is he in that homogenously White Southern town? Is that where he attended college and just wound up staying? I can't imagine that he wants to shed his Latino heritage if he's bringing home a Mexican woman to marry. But it seems like an awful place for them to be. They have to cross state lines to find a nightclub either of them would want to patronize.... I think Jonathan (and who knows who else) worked just as hard for it! lol At 46, with two kids, I admit, I work really hard for mine! But at 19 I think it's genes and youth for many.
  20. And "I work hard for my body and want to look sexy." or whatever. Girl, bye. Looking sexy at 19 is no big feat! But wasn't Jonathan paying her college tuition in Mexico? It think she does want a legit career.
  21. I don't disagree w/ anything you're saying. But I think in Colt's defense, the way he and Larissa are playing this is that they are using the 90 days as a test drive. They are not engaged yet. He said they are watching and waiting to see how it goes and then they will marry ~if~ they feel there is compatibility. I think it's kind of shitty for him to hedge his bets like that while Larissa gives up everything in Brazil (job, home, possessions, etc.) but he said that's the way it is and she agreed. (or at least I think she agreed.) This person was talking about Larissa, not Fernanda. I noticed that, too! Had Colt been shacking up w/ someone else? Or was it a roommate? Or his gross cousin?
  22. In agreement! He's really lucky he even knows he has a son on the way and was able to get within 5,000 miles of them. Quit the Capt Save-a-How act, Steven. You can't do anything for Olga and that baby now that she couldn't do herself.
  23. The issue isn't the number of babies each can make. It's that a high school diploma is worth more than the few hundred dollars they might be able to scrape together by forcing teens to work minimum wage jobs, if doing so would put them at risk for dropping out of school.
  24. There were tons of Indonesian students pursuing medical and other professional degrees at my (huge, research) university when I was in grad school. I think it is typical that they train abroad. If her grades weren't good, marrying a foreigner might have been her only way to enter a respected med school in the west. I agree totally. He is truly GROSS bc of this. I think this is partly why Low and Kolini have zero respect for him. He's just a whiny, crying, groveling, begging, kow-towing little simp. YUCK!
  25. I think women are generally far too quick to cut off their female friends for a man. Did Ashley say she and Natalie had been besties since KINDERGARTEN?? And she's trown out w/ the trash a week after Jay lands on US soil? OMG I thought the improvement was HUGE! On the live show show she looked like a normal cute, older woman. On the series she looks ghastly and almost like a mentally ill homeless woman. I can totally empathize w/ Leida on this. I will clean up my own mess but absolutely cannot clean up other people's messes. When I moved into apartments, they needed to be spotlessly clean before I would sign the lease. When I bought existing houses, I paid for them to be cleaned thoroughly from top to bottom, had all carpets pulled out and replaced, vents cleaned, etc.. It would make me physically ill to have to clean up a mess some other adult made. Yes, I love me some Larissa!!! Remember the other Brazilian Karin-EE? Never in my life had I heard that name (Karen, Karine, Corine) pronounced with the EE sound at the end. Exactly! Men like that do those things bc they regard the women as pets, not as equals. But I must be the only one here who doesn't think Fernanda is particularly beautiful.... I didn't grow up wealthy but my cousins did. And they were always involved in clubs and groups and societies etc., where they could interact w/ other rich families. Surely, Leida's parents could marry her off to some wealthy-ish Indonesian guy. Maybe a little older, maybe a widower w/ kids, maybe not good looking. But someone. She is really scrapin the bottom of the barrel w/ Eric and it seems rather unnecessary. I think it's actually spelled Allessandro! LOL But I could be wrong.
