Well I cried at the end of On the Beach just as I did 15 years ago. It was nice watching it knowing now what Rachel’s future was. I caught a glimpse of Lydia at the funeral. I assume they were all there they just didn’t get close-up shots. Who was the man sitting next to Anspaugh at the funeral? Nice that they used Alex Kingston’s real daughter for the Hawaii episode. At the funeral Ella was a younger, different baby though I’m pretty sure (probably the baby/babies who had been playing her all along?)

I forgot Peter came back for an episode. I heard his voice and looked up as was like wait didn’t we say goodbye to you in a previous episode? Starting Secreta and Lies now. Bracing myself.

Finally caught up on this week’s episodes. I remember not liking when the switched Rachel’s back then (no offense to Halle’s Hirsh who I actually like as an actress) and didn’t like it anymore this time around. It lost something for me that it wasn’t Vanessa Zima who we watched grow up and have a bond with Greene with. It didn’t feel like his daughter a lot of the time to me. Granted Vanessa’s acting abilities were not as hones as Hallee’s but it all fell flat for me bc they switched actresses. I wasn’t buying it. I would just try to picture Vanessa’s Rachel doing these things and I just couldn’t (not bc she was a saint bc we all know she was a pain in the ass). Speaking of which, the switching of Rogers also threw me out of the story a bit. No, we didn’t see much of the original roger but the bond got lost for me between new Roger and Reese. This one was probably unavoidable bc of the actors availability but still. Now Abby. I remember being annoyed by her back then and it’s all coming back to me. She is just everywhere in everything. Why? I’ve got to brace myself for the seasons to come. Also, I miss the nurses. Lydia, Haleh, Malik, etc. Why are they hardly shown now? I feel like they would have helped ground the show as the original actors left. Nice to see Jerry back though! Mark having symptoms again. Back in 2002 I was unaware Anthony Edwards was leaving so it was obviously more shocking to watch then than now but it’s still so sad. The rest of season 8 will be hard to watch in that sense. I don’t remember specifics so it’ll be like watching it for the first time again. Now that Benton is gone and Greene will be gone in a few episodes, I’m mostly going to be waiting for the last season and the returns of the originals bc other than the Clooney episode I didn’t see the other cast returns. I wish they’d cycle back to season 1 during one of the rotations.

Watching Mark and Elizabeth’s wedding episode. Oy. One ridiculous reason to not get to his wedding after another. at least these last theee episodes have mostly taken place within the confines of the er (and no sally field!) Lookibg forward to seeing/remembering if season 8 is an improvement over season 7.

I wish they would start from the beginning again while simultaneously airing the later seasons.

Abby’s Mom, Benton and the girl, Luca and the bishop...this weekend’s marathon was tough to digest. Spread out over the course of 7 weeks it probably didn’t seem annoying. Also, I agree about the blurring of the finger. I was like “really”??

I agree I agree! The first thing I noticed during the first episode of season 7 was the soundtrack. The music is totally different and I don’t like it.

Oh season 7 you’re really are hard to like. I’m trying but other than Mark’s story (and Carter a little bit) everything is grating. I’ve heard Sally Field shriek enough for a lifetime. Benton and the kid couldn’t interest me less. I am seeing now with my non-youth eyes how I probably gave up on this show around this season in 2001.

That’s how I feel...I don’t remember a darn thing about season 7.

Watching season7 episode 1 and the first thing I notice is that the whole show looks, feels and sounds different than seasons 1-6. I honestly have zero recollection of anything in this episode. Looking forward to seeing the other 6 that aired today for the second time (which will feel like the first time, I’m guessing). Just got to the football riot in the er and it was quite a bit campier than other er catastrophes. Something definitely changed at the onset of season 7. It’s kinda making me nostalgic for seasons 1-5 even though I thought I’d maxed out on them. Hmmm.

I enjoyed it. It was exactly what it always was and that’s all I was looking for!

I’m sure I’ll watch until Greene dies and then my interest will wane again. I am, however, looking forward to the final season bc other than the Clooney/Marguiles episode I missed all the other original cast returns.

I always just delete that episode. Watched it once in 1999 and I haven’t watched it since.

I agree, summer would have been better. I also wish they wouldn’t show 3 a day. It’s a lot on top of the few other shows on my schedule for the fall, plus work and life, in general. Still looking forward to seeing them,I’m just not sure how I’m going to juggle it.

Just checked again and I have it starting 10/7, too. Strange that it's starting with the Saturday rotation but whatever. I'm looking forward to these episodes bc I stopped really paying attention during the original run after JM left and really stopped paying attention after AE left. It'll be like seeing them for the first time!

Well that's disappointing. My Fios guide had the later cast listed and no episode info. I was hopeful. I mean, it's going to happen eventually. The question is when???

Totally agree about catching things you've never picked up on before. What isbnisnthe 3rd/4th full go round of seasons 1-6 and I'm still not tiring of it. DVR records them and I watch them. It's been a true summer of ER for me.
