The word oriental has no real negative connotations in the UK. Until recently the uks Chinese population was tiny, and its still quite small now. Other offensive were still used of course primarily when asking about getting a takeaway but the word is a just a dusty old fashioned word here, mainly seen on Chinese restaurants or on businesses that trade with the East, whether European or East Asian owned
Plus of course there is no real Korean or Japanese populations in the UK.
No one in the UK would think to use as a term of abuse. This of course goes both ways, the USA use age of s*** is a pearl clutcher in the UK. When it's been us programmes it, s either been dubbed out, or faced protests if they let one slip through. Not sure how it is now of course.
