Wow! This sounds just like me! I traveled the world from ages 20-37 spending months in exotic places, adventure travels, etc. Some of my travels I remember thinking "so glad I'm doing this now cuz there is no way a retired person could have the strength and stamina to do this." I would work hard, save a bunch of money, and quit me job as well. 2 weeks vacation a year was never enough. I would beg for 'time off without pay. 3 years was my limit when I would quit and take 2-3 months off. Now? The thought of going to an airport and getting on a plane seems such a burden, unruly passengers getting in fights with flight attendendants or other passengers....I have seen plenty of the world .

I developed the perfect answer many years ago to the insensitive questions when people would ask me: "How come you aren't married?" My answer "Am I suppose to be?" Or, "Why don't you have kids?" My answer: "Am I suppose to?" How can one argue those answers. Marriage/children is not for everyone. Well, not for me at least. I have traveled the world, had/have many hobbies.

Exactly! I feel the same on your thoughts about Susan. I have never been married either. I'm 58 and not longer want to put the energy or effort into it. I never had the tools to know how to make a relationship work, and it's a lot of constant work. My comfort zone is being single as I have a lot of male friends as well (I am not intimate with them). At this point I don't want to spend the rest of my life 'working at it'. I love my downtime when I need, and have friends to reach out to when I need.

I feel the same. I get lost and stop listening when there are too many 'likes' or 'you knows'. I was listening to a guest interview on NPR awhile ago; the person was apparently a professional on what the topic was. I felt such embarrasment for the guest as every other word was 'like'. The topic was of my interest, however, I had to turn it off because it was so annoying that I didn't have the patience to listen to it.
