So Jane kissing a guy, fixed everything. lol

I was really hoping Sutton or Kat might suggest that if she was going to kiss another man to fix her relationship perhaps there was a larger problem. Or that Pinstripe might tell her he realized the problem with them was that she's the most irritating person on the planet. Alas.

I guess the breakup will have to wait for when Jane really needs a story idea.

Did Jane really need to bring Kat and Sutton to watch her mammogram? I know she said they were her family, but who brings their family to a mammogram?

Also I'm sure they'd be able to relive the experience with everyone else reading the 12 part series on the Jane's Breasts vertical (not to be confused with the Jane's Ovaries, Jane's Uterus, Jane's Back Acne, Jane's Weird Toenail verticals that are soon to take over Scarlet).

So right there, I was like, again, "I'm good with this." The show sold me that, in this particular case, there's nothing like a near-death experience to nuke any lingering caveman jealous feelings, and the woman also has total ability to choose what she wants. So it worked out. The two men realized she loved them both -- and that they both loved her, and I thought that scene really, really sold it. I felt like the Wolfgang-Kala-Rajan thing would not have been believable without it, though -- they needed that moment when they thought they'd lost Kala to bond the three of them, to realize, "We both love her." And as this is fiction, I bought it pretty totally. Especially since we'd already seen Rajan save Wolfgang earlier in the episode -- and that Wolfy had been genuinely surprised and moved by that.

I agree with so much of what you said but want to pull this out in particular. Wolfgang and Rajan go through a lot together in the short period of time they have. They bond quickly. Who know what might happen long term with the three of them but love for Kala, mutual respect and affection make it totally believable to me that Rajan would be willing to at least explore it. And I think in some ways this is the real beauty of the show. That Rajan and the other non-cluster characters can, through the existence of sensates, be more like our sensates - opening their hearts and minds to things they never thought possible. To me, this is what the show challenges its viewers to do as well.

Thanks for sharing that! I'm so happy for Brian, and so glad that coming out gives him peace. It's such a brave, cool thing to do, and I love that his wonderful experiences on "Sense8" contributed to his wanting to live a more open life as a gay man. Everything I've seen behind the scenes on the show really demonstrates that the actors all became so close after so much travel and time working together.

The thing is, Brian's coming-out shows YET AGAIN (as always) that orientation means crap in terms of what an actor can play. Just as I bought Miguel and Alfonso as gay men, I completely bought Brian's Will as a guy who began his journey on "Sense8" as a primarily heterosexual person, and whose primary love interest was Riley (Brian had terrific chemistry with Tuppence Middleton, too). There was something innocent and sweet about his performance of Will -- and I love that as Will eventually evolves, like the rest of the cluster, to pansexuality, he never shows discomfort with that journey, and actually treated those scenes with a sense of wonder and discovery.

Meanwhile, SPOILERS for the entire show below!

I just did a total series rewatch of "Sense8" and honestly, I enjoyed it even more this time around. I also went back and reread our archived forum discussions, which were so much fun as always.

Some of my favorite moments this time included the ones so many fans of the show love, like:

    • The "What's Up" Singalong
    • The "Demons" orgy
    • Nomi's pursuit/bike chase
    • The 'births' montage
    • Lito and Nomi's museum conversation
    • The S1 finale cluster team-up to rescue Riley
    • The birthday and "Hallelujah" montages (Christmas special)
    • Sun's fight (and kiss) with Detective Mun (aka Hot Cop)
    • Lito's declaration at Sao Paolo Pride
    • The Cluster vs. Cluster showdown (Wolfy vs. Lila)
    • Lito and Hernando on the Beach

But I also loved several other small moments and revelations:

    • Sun stepping in to save Capheus (pretty much every time it happened)
    • Lito's fabulous, very Wachowski, over-the-top movie shootout
    • Will's joyous Fourth of July fireworks with his Dad (and several cluster members)
    • Kala and Wolfy in the Berlin rain and Mumbai sunshine (the production on this show was simply staggering)
    • Lito experiencing Sun's PMS
    • Lito saving Wolfgang (and vice versa)
    • Hernando's fantastic mic-drop monologue about art in S2 to the homophobic student
    • Bug's teary joyful expression when Nomi and Neets invite him to join their Christmas
    • The Cluster group-hug for Sun when she visits the cemetery
    • Lito wandering an entire episode depressed in onesie pajamas, before curling up to weep and snuggle with Sun (each cuddling a Hello Kitty plushie)
    • "My sister's the fucking Terminator!"
    • Will's big reveal to Whispers in the S2 finale
    • All the little happy Cluster moments in the series finale (bus, train, wedding, etc.).
    • The adorable resolution of the Kala-Wolfy-Rajan triangle (yes, it was rushed, but yes, I loved it)

On this rewatch, my third of the show total (I haven't rewatched since the finale in 2017), it was interesting to realize that Dany is always a poly third member of the Lito-Hernando relationship -- meaning, she doesn't start as a nonsexual beard and evolve, she's always been a participant. It's more apparent on rewatch that she joined in the first night, apologizes the next day, and Lito says it was fine -- and after that she's always shown sleeping in bed with them (and, of course, getting off every time they get down). And while she is obviously cool that Lito and Hernando are the OTP, she is also sort of touchingly close to Hernando -- sleeps with her arms around him, and has several little moments with him, to the extent that when Lito allows her to sacrifice herself to Joaquin for his career, that's when Hernando leaves him).

And by Season 2, from the Christmas special, through the series finale, she is presented as part of the Lito/Hernando relationship, which then becomes more openly sexual between the three -- beyond her solely as a voyeuristic participant -- in the series finale. I think part of this is due to the evolution of her intimacy with Hernando and Lito, but I also think it's because at this point, after all the Cluster orgies, Lito is now pansexual and completely okay with the idea of sex with at least some women (i.e., we've seen him sexually engage with Nomi, Amanita, and eventually Sun and Kala as well, in addition to Will, Wolfgang, and the other guys).

This rewatch was also the one that cemented for me that replacing Capheus's actor was the right thing to do. I loved Aml Ameen, the original actor -- he was this incredibly joyous presence and his smile lit up the world. But there was also something innocent and almost childlike about him (which was sometimes jarring, given his ultra-violent storyline). I don't think he would have had the gravitas to play Capheus's more mature, political, and romantic S2 plot convincingly (Toby Onwumere definitely carries it off well). Beyond whether Ameen was actually uncomfortable with the sexytimes/orgies as rumored, I think it was ultimately the right move by Lana Wachowski.

Meanwhile, the whole "Trojan Horse" subterfuge where everyone acts like a scared, confused tourist in Naples is hilarious, especially this moment from Wolfgang and Felix...

Anyway, I still love the show, and revisiting it was a treat. I wish it had been able to continue for a full third season, but I was happy with what we got. There's truly never been a show remotely like it.

Also, for those seeking good recaps, I revisited some during my latest rewatch, and while the AV Club reviewer basically just complained grumpily through them all (despite primarily A/B ratings), Kyle Fowle's recaps are really joyous and appreciative while still managing to be critical.

Aaah! Thank you for including thar screenshot. I'm laughing at that scene all over again and might need to do a rewatch. I'll always treasure and miss this show.

I'M SO INTO THIS SHOW. AGAIN. Ok, I just watched ep 4 and fired up my laptop just to post that, lol. I know this forum has been lukewarm, if even that, but the realization came when I sat on my sofa - one hand holding a bowl with leftover lasagna & garlic bread, the other hand holding a big glass of wine (repeat big) - and suddenly realized how happy I was to have this on my DVR to watch.  And it did not disappoint.  The previous poster said steamy.  YES- wow, sort of gratuitous in my book, but I'm not going to complain because it always seems tasteful, even when it looks like soft porn. By the final scene I was into my 3rd (big) glass of wine & as tipsy as Alice was at Shane's bday party.  And speaking of Alice- did she really just have a threesome with Nat & the Gigi?  Alice, are you asking for trouble?? - these two will get back together and you will be on the curb before you can say Throuple.  Oy vey.  And did Finley really tell Rebecca she wasn't a real priest and them drop the L bombshell (good for Rebecca for sending her home). And MY GOD, did Shane's (soon to be ex?) wife really just walk into her 40th bday party (and WOW, can we just all agree she was a freakin' GODDESS??!!)?  ...Yeah. I'm into this show. Again.

Yes, Alice making such a messy Alice move really sold me on the show, honestly. And naming the bar Dana's was sweet. Maybe they can name one of the dumpsters out back after Jenny.

My husband and I just finished binge watching Years and Years on HBO.  This show was never, ever on our radar.  We just started watching it out of the blue.  A boredom 'hey what is this' click as we were desultorily navigating around the channels.

We ended up really enjoying it.  It has a kind of  Black Mirror feel without that completely nihilistic feeling Black Mirror gives. It is a series that follows a British family as they live through years of political, social and technological developments & upheavals.  Each episode takes place every 5 years in the future.  Emma Thompson plays a political demagogue whose rise in power is fascinating to watch.

Lots of rep in this series.  The family is multicultural.  The eldest son is married to a black woman and they have two biracial daughters.  One of the sons is gay, one of the daughters is a lesbian and her gf is black, one of the daughters is disabled. The disabled daughter has a biracial Chinese child and later marries I believe a Middle Eastern man.  One character quietly goes about as a gender non-conformist.

Like I said we rather enjoyed it as an out of the blue find.  Here's the trailer:

This is the very first time I'm hearing of this but the trailer looks interesting.

So far I don’t know—or enjoy—Love as much as I did Beck. Beck was a mess, but she was well-developed as a character, and I understood her motivations. Either Love is intentionally being cagey, or the writers need a few more episodes to flesh out who she really is. We shall see.

It's definitely a different approach. We saw Beck's disaster of a life from the very beginning but Love we don't get dropped right in, so she's harder to know. I actually enjoy the contrast and that Love is so proactive and forward, even as it makes me slightly suspicious of her.

Jensen may actually have been employing black humor. In effect Jared was his " big dumb friend" or whatever he said. Personally I took that as Jensen being funny, acknowledging the situation but not letting Jared off easy either. He is a grown man with responsibilities and should behave better. He is a husband and father. He has a responsibility to the show. Beyond the people that he directly hurt by his actions, he potentially let a lot of people down had he been in jail for longer. The behavior is unacceptable.

I agree. I didn't especially like Jensen joking about it, but I think he deserves some slack because he had nothing to do with what happened and was in a rough spot in terms of addressing it.

It's funny because my BvJ opinions were always about the characters but this incident has made me rethink some things offscreen.

This seems like a bad choice. It was one thing for Jensen to hang a lantern on Jared's arrest when he first returned to set. I'm sure they all needed something to ease the tension, but I'm not big on Jared making light of it any further. He struck employees at his restaurant, for crying out loud.

I agree. I don't see anything charming about joking about being a violent drunk.

This episode just further cemented by belief that Sam really doesn't like Dean.  It's why his so called rah rah speeches never work.

Someone also needs to tell Jared to soften his delivery.  He always sounds like he's lecturing/talking at Dean rather than just talking to him.

Sam, yet again, was given an opportunity to defend Dean and he threw him under the bus by agreeing that he's a bully.

Why didn't Sam and Cas just let Dean sacrifice himself?  Then they would have been free.

I'm beginning to believe the only reason Dean got the be the cheer-er rather than the cheer-ee in Atomic Monsters was because so they could add the line that Sam pulled him through and remind the audience that that Sam is the inspirational one leader.

Glynn sucks as bad as Berens.

They have to treat his that way, Dean is mean and stupid, remember? It's smart, sensitive Sam's job to try and teach him how to think and feel correctly. 😡

  12. I think the level of castigation towards a grown man who attacked two of his employees and put his hands on a cop should be much worse, than it actually is, personally. The fact that he didn't manage to seriously injure anyone is good and will certainly help keep him from getting a serious sentence but it's horrifying behavior in my book.

I really hope the men he hit do press charges (though I can understand if they drop it - there will be a lot of pressure). Jared needs real consequences for his selfish and reckless behavior so next time doesn't get worse.

  13. I just loved it. I've been enjoying this season overall because it just hits my bonkers nonsense spot perfectly, and this was just so much fun to me. I was really hoping for more Jingles v. Ramirez (far superior to Freddy v Jason in my book) and watching the whole gang - alive and otherwise - prepare to reassemble back at camp for a concert/bloodbath? Can't wait.

  14. I don't recall Katie being involved in anything approaching human trafficking. Flo knowingly signed forged documents. She posed as the birth mother of a child without finding out where it came from. She took $50k. And she spent half a year covering up her crimes. Lying to her new found family who embraced her while she was stabbing them all in the back. Every single person in LA who wasn't part of the conspiracy to cover up what Flo and Wayne Shady did has every right to go over there and read her the riot act for it.

And Hope was never even in like with him. They had one weekend in Cabo, pushed by Steffy to keep her waffle husband from going back to Hope. What a love story for the ages!

Exactly. I mean I watch this show, obviously realism isn't that important to me. But some vague nod to consistency would be appreciated. It's the laziness that bothers me. There are a million ways they could have made Thomas fixate on Hope. A knock to the head turns to insta-love - runs in the family. They could have had an actual letter from Caroline saying nice things about Hope that put the idea in his head. Or seeing her once with Douglas. Hell, they could call back to when KM and LG used to joke about not being able to tell which one of them was in a shot. Almost anything would be better than this braindead retcon of a love that never even got going.

Didn't they established early on that he and Caroline had only been co-parenting for a long while before she died? That's not to say he wouldn't grieve anyway, but to justify all of this crap? AYFKMWTS? Especially when he was going on about Hope being the one that got away...please.

Yes, somehow he's mad from grief after losing the woman he was just co-parenting with while still completely in love with Hope (who he was never in love with) for years.

This is why $Bill should've been involved in this story from the beginning. Not only does he not BS, not only is he hilarious, not only is he the prettiest pretty to ever pretty, he also elevates every scene that he's in. $Bill sitting beside Thomas' bed, having a conversation with him, was better than 90% of the scenes on this show. I wonder how much of $Bill's dialogue is DD improving? He gets the best lines, so much so that I have to believe that he improvs, because otherwise, the other actors should be pissed that they give him all of the good lines.

For just a moment, I saw a brief glimpse of humanity in Ridge today. In that moment when he was with Bill outside of the room, telling his mortal enemy that he's worried about Thomas, & whatever else he said, for just a moment, he wasn't a total blowhard asshole, he was a devastated father, who couldn't believe what his son had done, but still loved him & wanted to help & protect him. That faded fast, but for the briefest of moments, he was vulnerable & worried. In the last 2 days, TK has had a few scenes that I'd rank among his better scenes. Interestingly, none of them were romantic.

TK is always at his best with DD. The two of them are magic together - amazing chemistry. It doesn't have to be romantic (not that I would be opposed if it went that way) but the show should really lean into this and put them in a lot more scenes with each other.

The last we heard about Dr Shady was when Ridge mentioned he had spoken to the police and they told him that they were having trouble locating the good doctor. So maybe Dr Shady is on the run? If Flo is in jail shouldn’t Zoe be in jail also? We haven’t seen her since Brooke and Ridge yelled at her and Flo at Forrester.

No we did get an update that they found him. He's in custody in the UK.
