After seeing several clips on Facebook that piqued my interest, I buckled and signed up for Peacock just to binge this show. It reminded me of Bend it Like Beckham with the setting and fantasy sequences, but I loved that the tension was not centered in the main character's family. He parents already rebelled/made their own way, so now she gets to just figure herself out.

I've known a few kids named Nehemiah (or variations of the spelling). According to the IRS, there are several hundred with that name born each year. It's uncommon, but not awful, IMO.

I still see it often on my SM feeds. With school starting back up, there was a variety of the poster boards (which is the updated version), letterboards, and chalkboards. I just take pictures and type captions.

My 8-year-old likes to pick out her outfit for the next day and sleep in it. I let her do it over school holidays, but for school she has to wear pjs or her uniform will get wrinkled. She bathes before changing for bed and has clean sheets, so I don't have a problem with it.
Jessa not only uses pajamas for her children, but posts pictures and video of her kids wearing them, in contrast to her parents. For all of her defensiveness regarding her upbringing, this is a departure. It will be interesting to see if more changes show up over the next few years, especially without a show tethering her to her parents.

Jana reminds me a bit of Jane Bennett in Pride and Prejudice, except without an Elizabeth to stick up for her. She is so guarded that she comes across as blank or unfeeling, but what other choice does such a family give her?

Resurrecting a zombie thread because I just rewatched the whole series over the past few weeks: the kissing noises were so over-the-top, bordering between gross and hilarious.
The writers definitely had no idea where they were going with this show. I would love to see the actors react to their own terrible New York accents and styling from the Dupes. The whole baby storyline ended up being nothing but a contrivance to give Liz and Max relationship drama - which is straight out of a soap opera plot. At least they didn't end up saying the baby was not his, but good grief. Maria and Liz give up their ambitions - to be a singer and scientist, respectively - to follow their men. Poor Kyle never got a date again after Liz dumped him. Alex's death made very little sense, but was fantastically acted.

My husband did his five years ago, and our experience was similar to what you described. I was there for all of the appointments because my husband has a terrible memory for anything outside of his field, but no one asked for my consent. I did get to stay in the room with him during the procedure, though.
I doubt Josh would go that route, though. I have Josiah pegged as the one who would secretly get a vasectomy, only because I think he adores his daughter and wouldn't want Lauren to constantly be pregnant (or suffering miscarriages) and detract from time with Bella.

My Claire prediction: she gets the genetic testing done and finds out he is not her father. Alternatively, she tests positive for the cancer gene and decides something about either never having kids to risk passing it on, or freezing eggs in case she ends up with cancer and needs chemo.

My first thought - Rod lives with his mother, who must be a decent mom to take him in while he pursues sobriety. Jill's mom's addiction and suicide are at the root of her psychological issues. Maybe being in a relationship with someone who has a loving and involved mom will be good for her.
Jill and Tammy should talk about their moms more. I know it brings down the comedy, but their acting in those scenes has always been so good. A Mother's Day episode would fit the title of the show.

I get that 18-21 is young to be married and starting a family, but they are legally adults. I teach teenagers, and I'm constantly reminding the 18 and 19-year-olds that they are adults. They don't need parental consent to make decisions for their lives *which would be a good point about adulthood for the Duggars to grasp*, they can get jobs without parent permission, they can vote, they can enlist, and they can get married. My parents were out of their respective family homes at 17 and 18, married at 19 and 20. I left for college out of state at 17. One of my sisters married at 19 and is now expecting her 6th child with her husband, with whom she runs a farm.
The problem with fundie offspring is not their age so much as the lack of life experience and independence. I have no problem with a young adult couple marrying early if they have jobs or are in college or in some way have demonstrated adult decision making. Many of the Duggars never seem to have that opportunity, even into their 30s.

no worries of burning down the barndo due to cooking. I worry on the barndo burning down over faulty wiring, that overhead heating unit in the kitchen surrounded by tacky, flammable decorations, baseboard heat blocked by furniture and use of space heaters.
The older Rod kids ( sans Nurie) are 21, 19, 18, 17, 16, and 14 - I include Tim because he seems to live on the property. When I was 16, my 14 year old sister and I were hired to babysit four kids while their parents were out if town for a long weekend. Their house used a woodburning stove for heat and it was winter, so we had to sleep on couches downstairs and take turns keeping the fire going at night. We also were supposed to get the kids and ourselves to school, but an ice storm hit, so we had the kids the whole time.
I know the Rodrigues children are less educated and socialized, but I think taking care of each other is probably what they know best.

I hate the trope of a kiss leading directly to sex with no real steps, thought, or conversation. This plays out as Zoe and Aaron knowing nothing about each other's current frame of mind or situation. I don't care how "caught up in the moment" they are meant to be; locking the door, taking off clothes, and putting on a condom are all deliberate steps that take a beat and leave space to think and speak.
The twins plot is definitely the most interesting to me right now. I also appreciate the lack of drama between Sky and Rodney, and the mature end of Luca and Jillian's relationship. There are good stories to be told that aren't about cheating (or other forms of sexual dilemmas). I'm not necessarily opposed to those stories entirely, but they get do lazy and boring, like the old soaps my granny used to watch.

I'm a Christian, and while the Saturday before Easter is a bit odd for a wedding, it isn't exactly a day set aside for specific observances. Maybe an Easter Egg hunt for the kids. All of our Holy week services start Palm Sunday and end on Good Friday, then we have a Sunrise Service on Easter Sunday.
I also know lots of people who married on or near major holidays, including right before or after Christmas, New Year's Day, and Thanksgiving (that was me, the day before). Usually they are low-key weddings.

I work in a school where sneakers are a very big deal, and shoes with mismatched color patterns started becoming trendy a year or two ago. Jeremy's are actually subtle compared to some I havr seen - neon green and purple on one foot, orange and yellow on the other. Students wear uniforms, so the footwear is their only way to play the fashion game.

I'm an Evangelical Christian, and we have snacks and drinks in church all the time. The atmosphere for most services is more relaxed and conversational. One church I was part of even had café style seating for half of the sanctuary. The only time it would be weird would be during an actual ceremony, like a wedding or baptism.

I like you too much, @Zella,
She might actually know Mr.T. He has at times used his status to promote Christianity. I remember watching an apocalyptic movie called Judgment that starred Mr. T and Corbin Bernsen (of LA law). It's very much in line with Kevin Sorbo and Kirk Cameron's movies.

When I was a pre-teen and teen, I lived in sweats and cotton pants in an era when everyone wore jeans. I was slim, but I hated the way jeans felt on my stomach. My oldest daughter is similar. She prefers dresses and leggings and hates anything on her stomach. The only time it causes a problem is with her karate uniform. I mostly wear dresses and leggings myself, unless I'm hanging out in sweats at home.
Jenni might just prefer the way dresses feel. Jean skirts are not really comfortable.

Sorry, I'm old; I mean livestream. The other day I said laptop instead of chromebook, and my students gave me weird looks. I think one of the twins even mentioned it being online or something, but I'd have to rewatch to check. I know the NCAA at least streams this stuff on their website.
ETA, what they said was, "We were on the news, and we got a medal." So, it just comes off weird that no one was following anything about the NCAA championships on social media or anything, no one called or texted to see how it went. Its like the only reason the twins are track stars right now is to create sexual tension and relationship drama between Jazz and Doug.

Maybe they'll use a time jump to skip through COVID. Introduce the shutdown, do a distance learning montage, then jump ahead a year to hybrid classes.

This show could stand going one week without a romantic/sexual relationship conflict. Aaron's girlfriend should have spoken to HIM about her insecurity about Zoe, rather than putting it all on Zoe. I was kind of disappointed that, after everyone watched Aaron's interview and participated in his protest last week, no one watched the broadcast of the track meet. I was also disappointed that the big drama from the race was about Jazz having sex. I was kind of hoping it would be that one of the two sisters lost her race or, if the showrunners were feeling particularly brave, that they ran against a transwoman for the first time, since that is very current in the news.

Drew's explanation of how friendships come and go rang so very true for me. In most sitcoms, people have tight-knit groups of friends, often people they've known since childhood or college, or they are besties with work friends. I am the kind of person whose friendships hinge on the shared situation of the moment and almost never last beyond that. I also appreciated that everyone was having fun with Gina, but they really connected with Drew when they shared deeper concerns. It fits both of their personalities.
