it's just so hard.....I know there are (some) savages here on the boards but we are all marshmallows compared to some of the things the girls see and read about themselves online, and even if they're not looking it's not something they can escape.  It's hard enough to just to feel okay sometimes even without being in an industry that evaluates you in large part on the way you look, and it's a zero-sum game.  No matter what you do, it'll never feel like enough.  Add enough capital through either money or promotional endorsements and an overall culture that seems to demand it without a (necessarily) correlative understanding of its potential implications long-term and it's a personal disaster waiting to happen.  There is no question these ladies are stunning as they are, and it is and should absolutely be their independent choice about what they want or don't want to be done, but it makes my heart ache to think about what may lie behind some of those decisions and the implications of those decisions going forward.  I know there are things I am or would be considering for myself, and it's honestly terrifying to me given some of the things I know and have heard about from a purely medical standpoint that some of these decisions may be made without that kind of knowledge or support on a casual basis, or as a result of the insane pressures they are under, and what it could mean for these ladies going forward for the rest of their lives.  Whatever they choose or don't choose to get done, I hope they can feel happy and confident in it.

Nothing broke my heart more than Kelli shaming Christina for having a flat chest her rookie year. Fast forward to Christina’s next season, and bam she had her breasts done. The pressure must be immense.

I saw this posted on instagram about few weeks ago and I saved it because it was shocking.
No one would think Dani was anything but gorgeous, in shape, and a healthy weight.
But the size comparison between Gina and Dani here is definitely jarring.

Also - this is an associated press photo and not edited by any of the DCC with phone aps.

I do think Gina is posing a bit differently here to make her waist appear smaller. More arch in the back/weight on her back foot. However Dani is teeny tiny so it is odd to see anyone look smaller than her!

Good incentive for some - but we all know Gina must of had a killer solo, but they chose not to show it. So once again it’s TPTB picking and choosing, and they must pick the sideline sweethearts well before the season even starts, ugh. The only thing the team members seem to get to pick is Abby Bear, and pro bowl, although pro bowl this year seemed to be narrowed to just a few candidates. Also, I hated how they showed parts of Kristin’s, Tori’s, and Kat’s solo on the previews but none of their footage on an episode. Seriously grating! And then what about solos they show but they don’t like? The infamous Kristin solo in season 15 that they dubbed over with music that didn’t fit the rhythm or style at all? Does she get to be sideline sweetheart because they featured her solo, or does she not earn it because they would rather just use it for MTT drama? Are the DCC elite pro-cheerleaders or are they just a reality show? This line is blurry in not a good way.

Has Gina not been game day girl? Jenn posted that during her tenure game day girl was the highest accolade, followed by sideline sweetheart which was also an honor albeit a smaller one. Production alone doesn’t choose which solos are shown during show group audition. I thought K & J chose their favorites based on the solos performed back in episode 1.

I legit cried when Jensen went back on the field and Kleine ran over and hugged her. That was awesome.

I have no idea if they cut Ava, I’m unspoiled, so looking forward to next week.

Some one on Reddit made an entire post about how Kleine’s happiness for others was fake. Got called a toxic child when I disagreed lol. Happy to see others enjoy Kleine’s positive personality. Seems authentic and genuine to me!

You mean she got Kelli's vote. Kelli makes the final decision. Doesn't matter how many want you or don't want you (and Judy was a No vote), if Kelli wants you, you're in. If she doesn't, you're out.

I don’t believe this is true at all. Kelli voted for Alora Rose for SG. She wasn’t selected. I don’t buy Alora Rose didn’t make Kelli’s top list given what was said. Every judge had a specific number of SG votes. Not to mention Kelli has been complimenting her ALL season long.

That being said, I wonder if Alora Rose regrets her decision to leave after watching that segment. I also wonder how Kat feels learning Judy specifically did not want her on SG.

I’m happy for all the ladies that made it. Do I disagree with some? Of course. But they got the votes. However if they want to brand it as ‘the best technical dancers’, don’t have some judges that aren’t even familiar with dance.

I have a feeling it’s almost encouraged by the producers to try to beg for another chance. Or just the girls seeing how it’s changed Kelli’s mind in the past and it might work for them.

If a producer told me to do this I would 100% say no. How many times has Kelli truly reversed her decision over a lady talking about how much she wants to stay? I know it has happened on the seldom occasion but they’re usually cut a week or two later anyway (like Kristin her first year in TC).

I’m a fan of Kylie but the ‘please just let me audition for show group’ was so uncomfortable. Wish they’d all go with ‘I understand, thank you so much for the opportunity and I look forward to trying again next year.’

I don't think Alora-Rose should've been cut....I think she got a bad edit or she came back strong.  On all of the leader boards they've shown,  she's at the top.

Agree! She looked amazing in episode 1, both in her solo and on the field. Got a special call out from Kelli and Judy.

Edit: I realize she’s only first because it’s alphabetical, but that still means she scored in the top tier :)

I just saw this on Reddit. I’m in complete shock. I’m sure many will suggest this is fake, which is most definitely a possibility, but just wow either way.

You're right, I edited my post. One can only hope she found a way to cope. I personally don't agree with the way she socialized her experience on Instagram because I feel it sends the wrong message to other young people. It normalizes extreme reactions in response to embarrassment.

Yeah I mean trust me I get where you’re coming from. Uncool to normalize suicide as a reaction to being embarrassed over your own lack of preparation. Learn from it and be better next time!

On the other hand, I’d imagine a lot of young people feel that way from time to time. Good to know you’re not alone and it’s just a temporary feeling you can cope with in healthy ways versus act on. Perhaps that could have been a better focus for her post 🙃

My interpretation of her post was that she said she wanted to drive her car off the freeway after panel interviews

Perhaps I misread it, but I thought the ‘driving car off the freeway’ feeling was after media training day and her resulting office visit with Kelli and Judy. I don’t remember any footage of her from the panel interviews before training camp but it’s been a minute since I’ve seen her season.

Either way, she probably just felt overwhelmed with embarrassment/shame in that moment. I assume later on she utilized some coping skills and realized one error doesn’t define her worth as a human being. Thoughts and feelings are okay to be shared IMO. They aren’t the same as our actions.

In regards to the Ava issue, and I missed the 1st episode, did they have the 1st nite of camp meeting where Kelli lays out the expectations? Did that social media ‘expert’ dude talk to them?  Also, did they have panel interviews this year?

They definitely haven’t had a social media seminar so far this season. I believe instead of full panel interviews there were some virtual interviews with one individual similar to last season.

I understand the argument that she should already know better without explicit instruction from DCC, but she’s also 19.

When I was in college, we took a career prep class. One of the lessons was about social media when applying for jobs. We were told to make all accounts private and still remove any questionable content as some employers know how to get around that. I even removed my last name and just did first and middle.

That being said, if Ava had ever watched the show previously she’s probably seen other TCC’s get in trouble for social media content. Probably would have been better to air on the safe side and remove that stuff.

Has it been confirmed here what she was dancing to? If it was on her tik tok as reported and Kelli was saying something to the effect of inappropriate lyrics and being "nasty," I'd bet any money she was doing the dance trend to the song WAP by Cardi B.

Kelli did mention the song lyrics but I think the bigger issue was flipping off the camera. Like I could see some current vets posting a dance video with twerking involved to music with curse words. But could I see any of them giving the middle finger? No.

  12. Taylor should have known about the Me Too movement. No excuses. Her post lacks personal accountability so I understand the frustration with it.

However, I don’t like seeing her criticized for sharing her own sexual assault experience and that she felt suicidal after being humiliated. The ability to be vulnerable and share emotions authentically is something to be praised in my mind. It doesn’t make her not tough or dramatic.

My parents taught me to take responsibility and not blame others. I’m grateful for this. However, telling kids to ‘get over it’ when they’re upset isn’t quality parenting. Just results in emotionally stunted adults with anxiety disorders and more.

Loved all the dancing, loved the choreography and feedback, but was surprised at the twerking. Perhaps an audience test?

Ava draws the camera, and I bet they keep her for that reason. She is indeed another immature Victoria. Be careful what you wish for.

Wow - Leah - could not take my eyes off of her when she danced the guest choreagraphy.

Has anyone else noticed the distinct lack of big breasts this season? I remember when the candidates began to get them, and I wonder if COVID precautions were a deterrent this year (docs not doing them).

Agree that Tori's photo scene was scripted, including Kelli's question about her previous try-out.

Drunk drivers are the worst. I had to stop dancing, thanks to someone who ran me over after leaving happy hour. Still have pain and limited range of motion today.

I’m sorry to hear you went through that and continue to :( Sending well wishes.

I too was so excited about the amount of actual DANCE content in this episode! But as another poster mentioned I miss the round table sessions with the guest choreographers for their feedback on rookies and vets.

Edit: by some miracle the episode is already up on Prime video!

At the risk of sounding completely insensitive, I feel like many young people today didn't develop coping skills like we did growing up in the 70s/80 and even the 90s.  I feel bad for her but she needs to hold herself accountable and own her mistake (if that's what you would call it).  Expressing that she wanted to drive her car off the freeway is a pretty dramatic response to something that happened to her because of her own lack of preparation. I would go so far as to say it discounts young people who are in actual crises. It's okay to say you are embarrassed about something you did or how editing on a tv show you signed up for made you look. But saying she wanted to harm herself over it seems like a bridge too far.

I agree.  I was looking forward to seeing her dance (from what I saw this summer on social media.)   As someone else previously commented, she reminds me of Taylor Lowery.  IMO, she's a cross between Taylor and Victoria.

Ava does remind me a bit of Victoria’s first time in training camp. There’s an element of maturity and humble pie missing. To be fair the girl is what, 19? Can’t say I was ready to be in the public eye at that age haha.

Interesting that Denise just loved both Ava and Lea. Lea is really growing on me. Maybe it’s the short hair but her technique and style reminds me of vet Kelcey who is also awesome.

I still can’t tell Megan and Jordann apart yet on a consistent basis lol.

People seem not to be sold on Madeline S and I don’t get it! She’s a lovely dancer and reeks of class to me.

But did Kelli seriously not remember Madeline had made it to uniform fittings last time in training camp? That ‘so you didn’t make it to this point before’ comment rubbed me the wrong way. Can’t some one in Production just inform Kelli?

For any So You Think You Can Dance fans, this is Alex Wong doing some DCC choreography. He was a part of the professional ballet and still crushes this choreography. I hope one day DCC considers a male cheerleader.

Edit: I missed this is a paid ad thing. Other dancers are doing as well. This girl is amazing! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CUx938NhQnZ/?utm_medium=copy_link

Who thinks it’s a good idea to pretend to be talking on the phone while in a performance? I think more of these girls are making stupid choices to get tv time.

I like the choreographer and his dance. He made every single one of the girls look bad in comparison.

I thought she handled the mistake with grace at least. Laughed at herself and said the idea clearly didn’t come off how she intended lol.

Yeah, I’m not sure why it has that many views either- I don’t get it. No idea who’s in the video either. I don’t see a huge problem with it either but some people might have on first look, she cared enough to turn the comments off.

We don’t even know if it’s Ava that gets spoken to, I just noticed that it went viral right around (maybe a bit before?) training camp and thought it was worth mentioning

I may have misunderstood but I thought it was confirmed to be Ava. On the ‘next time on DCC making the team…’ segment they show her being spoken to about it.
