I thought it was weird they didn't have some sort of interview with Daphne when she hurt her other knee. But maybe she did not want to be on camera right in that moment - I can see how it would be devastating to her.

I was watching some of season 10 last night on Pluto and MRS looks so much better with her natural face. This was only 6 years ago. She's gone way over the top now with the injections. I used to like her, but I don't think she adds anything of value to the show anymore other than annoying and staged soundbites for the editors. I am also not loving the format changes/editing style in the newer seasons. Rewatching season 10 made me realize how much smoother meeting the TCCs and interviews used to be, and no over the top awkward sob stories. MTT now is so choppy and weird.

In episode one I actually found Melissa helpful. She said something along the lines of ‘imagine you’re walking on an invisible straight line’ to help Kleine do a sexier intro walk for a dance. This was constructive direction.

Then in episode three she’s all ‘get out of your own head’ as if this is helpful/actionable dance advice? Whoever said they would have preferred to see Caroline give the corrections, Amen.

I didn't mean to quote just the words Thank you,  but the whole original post including the link. I watched the Sweethearts of the Gridiron a long time ago and thought it was cool. There are so many DCC that were Rangerettes it would take a lot of space to list them all.  They produce amazing kickers for sure.  The ones I can think of are Emma (red head) Robin, Amber, Amelia, Rachel (lunsford maiden name) Megan Fox, Christina Murphy, Meredith Oden and her mom were both Rangerettes and DCC and there are more. These teams are quite a big deal in Texas.  Thank you to the one who originally posted it.

You’re most welcome! I’m so happy some enjoyed watching this. When I found it on Amazon a few years ago it seriously broadened my horizons regarding Texas drill teams.

Also helped me understand the difference between skills needed for a true kick line versus just dancers that are able to do a high kick or two during a contemporary dance routine.

Please excuse my ignorance - but what is a drill team?

ive seen videos of the Emerald Belle’s so I know they’re good dancers and I did know Lacey was a Belle, however; I don’t know what a drill team is as we don’t have them other here or they’re called something else.

I highly recommend watching this short movie about the Rangerettes! I’m not from Texas so it really helped me understand the difference between a drill team and a dance team:

Prime Video has it for free in higher quality I believe if you have that.

I was actually pumped to see a qualified person come in to teach kick line! Looking forward to seeing the full segment tomorrow.

I was on board with all the cuts except Bre.  I think Bre given more time and the showmanship lessons they talk about would’ve stood out.  I’ve watched her on IG at Jen Amburn’s classes, and she’s so cute and has a lot of power. I do think maybe a different hairstyle might help (it’s always in her face - at Jen’s and they remarked about it at camp.)

100% agree. Bre was the only one I wish they had given some more time to. Hopefully she’s back next year. Definitely has the look in my opinion!

Well here we are 2 episodes in and wow 4 cuts in one night! I mean I knew they got rid of a few fairly quickly, but 4 all at once was shocking. When they called those 4 into the office, I actually thought at least 1 would be safe and I felt really sorry for Bre. I did feel the other 3 girls deserved to be cut and when rookie Amanda was jabbering away to the employee who called her to the office about being excited to meet Kelli & Judy I was like "Oh honey, I'd pin down that excitement for a bit if I were you." Really I'd hate to be the employee that's told to bring the girls to the office because I have no poker face.

I agree with people commenting on what Madeline Malloy. For a 4 year vet to be talking about doing enough to just "make it through" is not acceptable. Kelli and Judy have said time and again that they want people to leave it all on the field and they hate when a cheerleader looks like she's just marking the dance. I mean I felt bad for her that she got called out, but it was justified. Frankly I'm surprised she's not the lowest ranking vet with that attitude.

I have to say I love little Melanie and thought she did a great job which makes me sad knowing she doesn't make it. Of course the reason she's cut will be revealed, but for now I don't see why she couldn't stay. One thing is that I don't get why they are raving about Lea. From the brief shots I'm seeing of her on screen, I'm not seeing anything that makes her stand out from the others. Frankly the only reason I know she's there is hearing Kelli & Judy say her name occasionally.

The other big thing that stood out to be was the segment of showing new rookies being hosted by DCC alumni. For a split second I was worried that the home they showed was going to be Tina Kalina's and we were going to have to hear her going on about how her dear friend Kelli asked if she would open her home to a rookie and how she was so proud to answer the DCC's call. Thankfully, that was not the case.

Otherwise, it was an ok episode, but kind of boring compared to all that was going on in the 1st one.

I think Lea’s appeal is that she’s the only TCC (who hasn’t been in camp before) that actually knows the choreography at this point lol.

Kelli compared her to Jalyn, ‘sharp as a whistle’ with the choreo. Most of the other girls have a lot of sequence mistakes.

I assumed the change in auditions -- from having a completely open process in-person to selecting candidates via video and then having the judges see them in person -- was a modification for COVID and not a permanent change or anything they did for TV purposes or time. The old way of doing auditions involved a couple hundred candidates, plus the judges, staff and crew. That's a lot of people to try and get test results for and control. Seems much easier to narrow it down to a slightly larger training camp than in years past, test everyone, put them in a bigger space and get an episode that looks and feels sort of like an audition.

Tulip, I was able to purchase it on Amazon yesterday -- it's Season 16. I'm in the US, so it might be different if you're not.

I admit I’m confused over the outrage of not hosting prelims and semi finals with hundreds of people during a pandemic. I missed elements of this as well, of course, but jumping straight into finals basically was super exciting!

Maybe bit controversial but I kinda miss the boards! I know last years were edited to fit the narrative, but I like seeing how everyone ranks from beginning to the end of the process. Hopefully we will get some in the coming episodes

Agree 100%. The first year they did this I thought it was super helpful.

I'm fine with eliminating prelims too. Though I don't think it makes much sense to launch into the sob stories on episode one. I have empathy for the girls and I support the subject matter but it feels oddly intrusive to meet them and learn so much - minute one, day one.  "Hi, I'm suzie and here is the thing I struggled with..."  Let's get to spend some time together before I hear your innermost secrets. Also, if we get a plant sob story on every TCC introduction - it will really take away from the authenticity of the stories. Do not force these girls to recall "one hard thing."

Secondly, I appreciate the dancing but the editing is still TOO CHOPPY. Drives me nuts.

Lastly, why is training camp so long when they proved they were capable of evaluating and making decisions in two weeks last year?  They defended that process as totally fair  - so why do we need so much more time this year. /s

This is a good point. I enjoyed the introductions but perhaps it would have felt more authentic aired in a later episode once we’ve had more time to get to know them.

I thought the exact same thing.

I seem to be in the minority on this, but I loved them doing the signature dance right off the bat! I doubt they did the entire routine, and this is the most important routine for them to showcase.

I assumed judges were very aware vets would have a leg up during this portion. They’re just looking for potential. Plus something new and different.

Is it me or did they show more dancing than usual?  I enjoyed the features on Ashlinn and Kaydianna's family.  Episode 1 was good.

I enjoyed as well! Racism and domestic violence, while obviously tough topics, are so worthy of highlight and discussion.

I loved Maggie during her tenure on the team, but I was getting a little jaded over the psoriasis and scoliosis comeback stories. One of my closest friends struggles with psoriasis and my dad had scoliosis resulting in nerve damage. I don’t want to downplay either of those two obstacles but this year’s highlights felt less forced.

I also enjoyed having more dancing time and basically jumping into ‘finals’ in the stadium venue. Felt clear, fresh and exciting for me but I know others missed prelims/semi-finals build up.

My biggest reservations on the season are whether they’re going to address Victoria and Amanda. I hope they choose to. The way they handled Erica’s departure was so awkward and bizarre.

I’ve got seriously high hopes of watching Madeline, Tori and Ashlinn come back and dominate as well as getting to know the other new ladies better.

Edit: Another poster highlighted this, but fascinating Caroline is mentioned as potential point material and then gets moved further back in the triangle?

Argh, I’m so sorry to do this, but will someone please post (or pm me) the chart with all of the rookie candidates that includes who makes the team and who is cut? I thought I took a screenshot of it, but now I can’t find it. I need a reference for when I watch the show. 😂

Deleting bc was on wrong thread :)

I don't think that Prime does that, though.  The show us sent out the way CMT edits it and the various streaming services don't have the ability to change it.  It's CMT that is making the crappy music choices.

Yes yes believe you are correct. CMT makes those choices, not the streaming services.

Wait… are they doing that and not CMT? Could it be possible that there are multiple ‘versions’ of the episodes where they have different music depending on where you watch it? Am just realizing I might actually see them dance to different songs here in Europe. (I absolutely hate the music they use as it is no match at all to the dances, but if this is what they do, I now get why it’s so bad)

I will never understand how you can do a professional dance show and refuse to invest in the music rights.

I watched the show for YEARS on Prime Video before discovering the music was substituted. Definitely explains a lot of things lol.

Is the music still bad on Amazon? I found it unwatchable with the fake music.

lol yes Amazon and Apple still substitute the music 🙃 It’s definitely not my favorite but doesn’t ruin the experience for me!

I believe Philo and YouTube TV use proper music, but you can’t download for offline watching. Some one correct me if I’m wrong.

As someone relatively new to the process of buying the season what is the best option?  YouTube, Amazon etc. Which has the option to download  for off line watching.

I can confirm Amazon prime video has this ability! When I traveled for work I’d download all the seasons and watch on the plane.

    Apple TV does as well.

They're not going to take tips from an anonymous internet user. I feel like some of y'all aren't truly aware of how unimportant our perceptions of the show and DCC are to them. I also don't really have a problem with their stance. This forum is far from representative of everyone that watches the show or follows the DCC. I sense general discontentment here with the methods through which the show and the DCC operate. I've seen plenty say they have suggestions for and critiques of how they market themselves and argue that their work in that department is subpar or even bad, yet the show and the DCC continue to grow in popularity as far as we know. It remains one of CMT's most popular programs and its longevity is indicative of that. I think that whatever it is they're doing is working and will continue to do so. I'm not saying all the suggestions/critiques are invalid, but I believe they most likely mean nothing or not nearly as much to the majority and as a result nothing to the DCC or CMT. I don't think they're going to cater to the whims of an absolute online vocal minority, nor do I think they have any good reason to. Money is money and this isn't where it comes from.

lol the original poster was clearly joking

I ain't here to shut down discussion. I know what the rules are. Y'all can say what you wish. I never said anyone couldn't. I said my piece like everyone else does. I think trying to take forum critiques/suggestions to Kelli and them through email or something like they got any reason to listen is a fruitless endeavor. I don't think they matter to them and I think that there's good reason for that. Don't mean someone can't state them here or take it to them if they wish. I also just think that despite many negative perceptions of the DCC's management they are thriving (especially for an NFL cheerleading squad). Not sure where I blundered. It feels like to me that I'm not allowed to say good things about the DCC or dissent from the clearly more popular negative sentiments/play defense without being accused of attempting to regulate conversion. Don't want trouble though so I'm through with it. I got some posts wiped before in which I was policing, but I believe I have learned my lesson since.

No one was actually serious about sending an anonymous marketing plan expecting action…

Unless you’re aware of a woman’s eating habits, it’s extremely dangerous to raise speculation of an eating disorder. It is entirely possible to be that physically fit and to not have a disorder.
Some of y’all that get upset at Kelli for picking apart these ladies’ figures over the duration of this tv show sure are doing a great job of doing the same here. Just saying.

To be fair, the community didn’t randomly bring it up. A very trusted and reliable insider did. I get where you’re coming from and have struggled personally with the ethics of continuing to discuss it, but some of the photos are a bit alarming and after all — this is a forum dedicated to discussing the ladies. I myself am guilty of speculating but more from a mental health standpoint and wishing Gina the very best.
