    Could it be Dylan Neal

You're on the right track but no, not him.

Repeating?  They have two new ones to sell, chapter 2 for Autumn Reesor and Alison Sweeney.  Lacey's character is pregnant and even Hallmark wouldn't use the same storyline for all 3 would they?  Maybe one of them gets a dog and one gets a divorce.

Wasn't that actually from a few months ago?  Isn't it the one where there was some comment on her wearing a wetsuit rather than a bathing suit (or something like that?)  I have no recollection of the story or the lead actor, who is handsome but does nothing for me.

I like all three actresses but have zero interest in the history and "magic" of that wedding veil.

I guess I must have missed the comments on Groundswell.  Yes, Lacey shows up at the beach in a wetsuit.   That lead actor did nothing for me either.  Too skinny.

  2. Nobody saw Groundswell?

Groundswell:  Surfing as a metaphor for Life, that was o.k.  And I always find Lacey Chabert appealing, but did not believe that her character Emma's attraction to Ben was anything other than LUST; I mean, she was looking at him barechested at the beach with hungry eyes, lol.  I didn't even get any primal "she's a hot chick" vibes from Ben, much less of romantic love.

  3. Oh gosh, let me see.....I think he plays mostly a city guy but honestly cannot be sure.  I'm going to have to watch Hallmark today all this week-end and see if I can spot him and the movie title, then get back to you.  He is definitely hunky in a "mature" sort of way, like James Brolin, and I always enjoy watching that kind of man.

ugh, you mean they're repeating all those veil movies?  Drat.   I will, however, persevere!   I must find that actor!

I thought we determined Mr. Pignose is Ryan Paevey?  Luke Macfarlane is the normal good looking guy with zero chemistry with anyone.

Don't know about the goatee guy, but would like to check him out.  Do you know any movies he was in?

Yes, you are right, Piggy is Ryan, I just found a photo.

I should amend the "goatee" -- it is actually what appears to be a perpetual white stubble which gives this actor the appearance (at least in that area of his face) of a mangy old dog, which he most definitely does not resemble overall -- his general look is dignified.  Unfortunately I cannot come up with any movie title.   He is tall, well-built and solid, with a down-to-earth demeanor/personality.

  5. I'm seeing Mr. Piggy Nose everywhere.  Who is he -- Luke McFarland?

What is the name of that older (late 40's or possibly early 50's) male lead with -- and I apologize for not coming up with a better description -- what looks like a very light grayish-white chin goatee?  He also has turned-down lines on both sides of his mouth.

  6. That blankety-blank wedding veil -- who cares?

My favorite memory of axe throwing is Ed Ames hurling the blade smack dab into the crotch of a silhouette of a man on  the Johnny Carson show.

omg, yes! How could I forget that?  A classic television moment!   Don't remember exactly what Johnny's reply was but I think it had to do with circumcision.

Believe it or not, axe throwing has become a popular recreational activity all over the country recently and there are a lot of new venues for people who want to do it.  I just googled and found 3 places within 30 minutes of the large midwestern city where I live.  I know several people who have done it as part of a team building exercise with co-workers.  It's a real thing.

    Wow.

I have been axe-throwing.  Not sure how someone came up with this as a fun thing to do, it was dumb.

    Personally I prefer darts, lol.

Axe throwing is actually pretty popular across the US and Canada. There are chains that offer just the throwing experience. But if you want to do it in Brainerd (home of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox), there's a bar there that offers it.

This is all new to me!

  8. The Dog Lover's Guide To Dating:   Axe throwing??? Where was the story supposed to take place, in that Minnesota town with those statues of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox???

Just revisiting this because I turned on the movie for 5 minutes and found that he went to school in London and trained in Blackpool.  Which doesn't really explain the complete absence of any accent unless he was not yet speaking when he moved there. But it's all we're going to get.

Despite my curiosity about that accent I had no intention of visiting this movie again when a few days ago while channel surfing I landed on that very scene!  I think in order to distract the audience from the embarrassing absence of logic they had Lacey speaking over him while he very quickly uttered those lines almost under his breath about the U.K. connection so viewers would not be able to hear the character with any real clarity.

I agree.  I love this movie!  Of course, AMC is playing it on a loop so I can tune in at any time and find something hilarious.  'Those aren't pillows!'  My favourite scene is John Candy driving the car with his arms trapped, and when they run into the motel the next morning, and they just back up and take off.

Oh my gosh I am so delighted to hear this!! (AMC was also running National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation -- every time Cousin Eddie shows up in this series I'm in stitches, lol)

The late, great John Candy -- I miss him to this day.  (I'm a fan of SCTV which showcased the true brilliance and sophisticated humor of Canadian performers, way ahead of, imo, Saturday Night Live.

My favorite scene in Planes, Trains and Automobiles is when Owen shows up.  "Her baby came out sideways.  She didn't scream or nothin' ".

Well, that part of the premise was stupid, but the movie itself was pretty funny.  And I am no fan of Lacey Chabert.

Merry Christmas, everyone.  I am expecting 15 people for dinner so really need to get off the computer and wash the floor and clean the bathrooms.

Chabert is actually one of the very few Hallmark heroines I can stand to watch, but I found this one a real slog.  Go figure!  To be honest, I find most if not all of these holiday movies difficult to get through.

What can I say?  I guess I'm more a Planes, Trains and Automobiles kind of girl, lol.

  12. Merry Christmas and a blessed, happy and healthy New Year to everyone.

I was watching Haul Out The Holly last night (Hallmark should repurpose the title to Haul Out The Challah for 2023's Chanukkah movie)

Parents deceive overworked daughter into thinking she will be spending the holidays with them at the family home.   But they are actually flying down to Florida on the very day of her arrival to scope out a retirement abode.  As Lacey Chabert enters she sees Mom and Pop, in the middle of winter with snow on the ground, head for their waiting cab wearing short-sleeved tropical shirts, zero outerwear.

Oh yes, nothing worse than a Hallmark handsome man in a movie 😉. If it weren't for hot men, I wouldn't even watch.  It's not like the female acting or the scintillating dialogue or genuinely intriguing stories are drawing me in.

The only ultimate draw for me is to literally count how many times characters use the word "Christmas". Sad to say it's how I get my Hallmark jollies.  Unfortunately I can't get excited over the guys because for the most part they all look alike, lol.

Something I never understood about that plot line, was why his foster father couldn’t adopt him? (It was written as if he really wanted to)

Usually in stories like that, the foster parent doesn’t meet the income requirements or something, but they didn’t even explain it! Was this a “in Hallmark land, single men cannot adopt children” type situation?

I just had an ephiphany-- Hallmark Christmas movies are supposed to be fantasies which accounts for the unbelievable, odd storylines and over-the-top acting.

I can't say I didn't get a tiny gay vibe from him myself.  He's a big musical theater actor, FWIW.

As for the mustard/Russian dressing conundrum:  Good coarse deli mustard is appropriate with pastrami or corned beef--if the meat is prepared properly, it's juicy/steamy/fatty enough.  Russian dressing with turkey is great, though.

I now feel I need to order mashed potatoes with gravy.

He looked and reminded me of a more attractive and subtle Nathan Lane.

You know your deli foods and condiments!  In Hallmark Bingo word terms, "very impressive".

Potato is my favorite vegetable.  Mashed, fried. baked, boiled, scalloped....
