  1. If you had ever told me I would see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar dance to a 1950's tennis-inspired routine backed by an Elvis imitator's version of "Hit Me Baby One More Time," I would have thought you were crazy.

  2. With so little content and endless repetition of the same scenes, I find I have too much time for shallow thoughts during each episode!

Jephte and Shawniece:  I wonder what made the so-called experts think Jephte was even remotely a good candidate for marrying a stranger.   Shawniece surprises me with her overall patience and maturity.  She looks like a completely different person every time I see her, and I can't help but wonder if that contributes to Jephte's lingering sense that she's a stranger.  I predict they'll choose to stay together:  Shawniece because she's devoted and determined to make this a success, and Jephte simply because he never wants to go through the first 6 weeks of marriage with anyone again.

Ryan and Jackie:  I wish Shawniece would give Jackie some makeup tips.  She always looks like she's using a day off to do a big, greasy head-to-toe moisturizing treatment.  When they were writing their overall marriage happiness scores on those napkins, I couldn't help but think "Use that napkin to blot, Jackie!"  I'm not sure why she or the experts thought she was far enough along in grieving the loss of her last partner to marry a stranger, but I don't think she's harped on it as much as the show would like us to believe.  I've known a lot of guys like Ryan who keep themselves busy "doing" instead of "being" to avoid having to do any self-discovery.  His insecurity is immediately on display in any disagreement -- he just starts insisting Jackie is wrong and keeps talking over her, louder and louder, like an old-school Jerry Springer guest until she gives up.  I predict they will choose to stay together but later divorce.  She'll say he was just unreachable, he will forever insist was because she wasn't over her dead boyfriend.

Jon and Molly:  Molly considers herself adventurous, but it seems to me her idea of having fun is to treat every activity like a competition and try to humiliate or emasculate Jon along the way.  I'm baffled why Jon wants to have sex with her.  But I predict they will choose to stay together, either because there's more positive aspects to their relationship than we're being shown, or simply because neither of them wants to be the first to admit they want out.

  3. My favorite thing so far is to watch the guy playing piano -- he has absolutely no poker face.  His expressions are priceless whether the singer warbles out a sour run, or surprises him by hitting it right on.  He's been more fun to watch than most of the contestants.

The final product at Torrid looks nothing like Josh’s winning look. They just semi replicated the logo t-shirt. Here is a link to Torrid’s entire Betty Boop collection.

As soon as I saw Josh's look I knew it would win.  It was like a flashback to Christian Siriano's season where the sponsor, Levi's Jeans, asked the designers to transform recycled 501s into a fashion forward look.  Siriano created an awesome moto-inspired jacket.  Yet Levi's chose a corseted denim dress by Ricky Lizalde that I thought looked like a teenager's Home Economics project as the winner.  Why?  Because it was cheaper for them to manufacture.   The judges care much less about "high fashion" than what the sponsor wants.  So it was obvious the winning look needed to fit in with the rest of the cheap crap Torrid shills to teens.  I do notice they appear to have passed on Josh's mesh pants -- at least I don't see them on the website.

I just saw the re-run with the bride who bought not only her dress, but one for her mother and her three daughters (ages 13, 11, and 18 months).  Pnina for everyone, of course!  The bill was $70K, and lordy, each dress was uglier than the next.  The only one I liked was the one for the baby, which cost $4500.  For an 18-month-old.  Mm-kay.

I mean, I really can't judge what others do with their money, but for that kind of coin, I'd expect some, you know, *pretty* dresses.

It sure seem that the higher the budget, the less taste exhibited.  I'm completely baffled why so many SYTTD brides consider their wedding a performance and party instead of a ceremony to publically take vows entering into a marriage.  A marriage that is intended to last longer than the credit card payments rolling in from the Pnina Tornai.

@eyelash, you might go to Sophia Tolli's FB page, describe the dress and mention that it was on SYTTD UK. Maybe they'll respond with a pic of it and the name of the style. Then you can search to see if it is available somewhere.

Thanks SpunkyGal, that worked!   It turned out to be the Sophia Tolli's design called Aquarius. What I thought was strips of fabric is actually multiple patterns of lace in V-shapes, not sewn vertically.  So much for my powers of observation.  But my friend indeed loves it and it actually comes in her size.

I agree!  Sadly, too many people are going to remember the bride looking like a stuffed sausage.  Go get an empire style or even a fit and flare, work with folks who only want you to look your best and you will look so awesome!!!  Most people don't remember the dress anyway, sadly, this stuffed sausage bride's guests will remember her for looking like a sausage!

I'm always surprised how many shorter, plus sized brides choose dresses with inadequate coverage and lots of horizontal patterns or seams.  I was always told horizontal lines make one appear shorter and broader, which is not what I am after, especially in a wedding gown.  On the UK version a few weeks back, there was a Sophia Tolli dress one of the women tried on that looked as if it were strips of various types of embellished white fabrics sewn together vertically.  (I can't remember if the woman who tried it on was plus sized or not).  I have scoured the internet trying to find a picture of it to show my engaged friend, who feels the same way I do about horizontal divisions.  However, I been unable to find it.  If anyone can find it, I would just be happy to show her such a dress exists, even if it does not come in her size.

Danielle wants a manly man.  Maybe she's not a womanly woman.  What's so great about her?  She should try to make a man out of him .... If she knows how.    Sick of them.

She made herself as unattractive as possible on the second honeymoons episode wearing ripped jeans, an oversized sweatshirt and a skullcap.  It looked more like something one of his beer buddies would wear for an impromptu flag football or basketball game than an outfit a newlywed woman going on a second honeymoon would choose.  Is that what she thinks will attract the "manly man" she wants?  Or was she intentionally setting the tone of "we're just sports buddies, don't touch me!' right from the start?  I think Cody will be pretty glad sex never happened by the end, and hope he decides for divorce on decision day.

Fun fact- Weeks ago on a local morning show one of her friends was interviewed (not the two shown, all Black women) and she stated  that she styled Rachel's hair and makeup for the dates at her parent's "house."  Did anyone notice a difference?

I think the eyelashes were more reasonable, but I am so tired of watching women stroke, readjust and fiddle with their hair extensions.  I think Rachel could use a little volume on the top, and those lengthy extensions just weigh her down.  I also really disliked the outfit she wore with Eric, but there's no denying she is a beautiful woman no matter what.

Oh, man, don't get me started on pronunciation!  We have a weatherman who cannot pronounce a long "E" to save his life; he pronounces it as a long "A".  So, we have bad weather in the "RAGIN" instead of region.  Is this a dialect anomaly that is familiar to anyone?

I haven't come across that one, but my relatives from midwest America sometimes pronounce a short "E" as a long "A."  (Measure = MAYzhur, pleasure = PLAY-zhur).

Agree, plus it feels as if tptb decided to take it over the top in Season 2.  A little goes a long way, IMHO.

It appears tptb have significantly shortened / edited out other parts of the episodes to make way for the Chip comedy hour.  Even though I'm not a fan of the house hunt portion, in general, I dislike the way they've shortened it to only include the common areas plus mbr.  Would rather see Jo's sketch up of each home but that's JMHO.  Or, even better, how about more reno?

What gets me is the flat, atonal response of "sure" from Chip to anything the homeowners say, good or bad.  It's like he has it on auto-loop.  He couldn't appear less interested when the spotlight isn't on his goofy antics.
