  1. I never watched the Inspector Morse series. And until last year, I wasn't even aware of this series. Then my Mom got me into this show and I ended up bingeing seasons 1-8 in anticipation of this last one. In a short time, it's become one of my all-time favorites.

Like others here, I was stressed about Thursday's fate, assuming he would die. Color me shocked when it was revealed that he - not Sam - killed Peter Williams/Tomahawk (I believe my exact words were "Oh Fred, you didn't") The heartbreak on Morse's face when he confronted Thursday was palpable (Shaun Evans gives Morse the most piercing facial expressions) In their last scene, the love Morse has for Thursday is still there, but the respect is...if not gone, then greatly diminished. Also, Roger Allam is a truly extraordinary actor. I hope his other series comes back so I can see more of him.

As for the rest, I was disappointed to see that they continued flogging the dead horse of Morse and Joan. The star-crossed love thing with these two moved past triteness several series ago. A better approach would have been them both realizing that their moment had passed, and moving onto a deep friendship sans the will-they-won't-they of it all.

I'm glad Joan and Strange's wedding went off without a hitch and that Fred and Win got to enjoy it.

So great to see Jack Laskey back as Jakes. When I first watched the early seasons, I didn't like the character at all, but on re-watch, he really grew on me. The reveal about him in Neverland was heartbreaking, and I always loved that he got a lovely sendoff in Arcadia. His interactions with Morse (of course he was crashing at Morse's place) were great, fully imbued with the history between the two characters.

I'm going to miss this show so much. Well done, to cast and crew for a lovely finale and sendoff for these characters.

May I join you? I brought three hotdogs.

I know the table's getting crowded, but can I join if I bring more hotdogs 😄

I loved this episode. I've liked La'an and Christina Chong's performance since the first episode, so I was always going to enjoy an episode that focused on her. Add in time travel, and this episode was practically tailor made for me. La'an and Kirk's connection was charming and unexpected. I liked them as a team, even though I knew their pairing was ultimately doomed. At the end, I wanted to give poor La'an a hug.

Paul Wesley as Kirk is working for me. I loved how he portrayed this alternate version of Kirk, but still brought the charm and honorable nature of the Kirk we all know and love.

I find Pelia so delightful. Kudos to Carol Kane. This character is very different from Hemmer (who I also liked a lot), but a solid successor.

  3. Not since Annalise Keating have I loved a fictional defense lawyer so much. Neera is amazing! It helps that she's played by the awesome Yetide Badaki. I like the friendship between Neera and Una. I want to see more of it.

This episode brought to mind the DS9 episode "Doctor Bashir, I Presume," where we learn that Bashir is genetically modified, though this episode is about someone from a society that genetically modifies their people. It makes sense that Starfleet and the Federation would finally have to grapple with its banning of elective genetic modification. To quote one recapper, discrimination flies in the face of everything the Federation is supposed to stand for. Una's testimony about facing discrimination and her family going to another city because they could pass poignantly underscored the result of the the Federation's discriminatory policy. I'm curious to see if this or any other new ST show addresses this issue again.

Spock saying "I'm sorry you had to witness that outburst" to Ortegas and M'Benga was hilarious. I laughed right along with them.

I'm so glad this show is back!

  4. Caught up on the third and fourth episodes, and I'm continuing to love this latest season of the show. Mrs. Devine and Brenda have both fit in very well with Father Brown. And I've found myself surprisingly moved by the stories at the heart of the mysteries, particularly in "The Gardeners of Eden" episode. Also loving having Inspector Sullivan back. I'm assuming we'll eventually find out what's up with him and Mrs. Devine.

  5. What a fantastic premiere!

The crew stealing the Enterprise to go rescue La'An was very on brand! I really liked the partnership of Chappell and M'benga. I kinda want to know about their time in the war.

I've been meh on this version of Spock, but I enjoyed him a lot in this episode. Ethan Peck did a great job of portraying Spock's turmoil.

So, the Federation is secretly on a war footing. That should be an interesting thread this season.

  6. The first 2 episodes of season 10 are finally up on BritBox. I loved both. The mysteries were good, and I enjoyed Mrs. Devine - especially when paired with Lady Felicia.

I cackled when Inspector Sullivan said Insp. Mallory requested to be transferred FAR away from Fr. Brown.

Because to not show it repeatedly is to deny the truth of it.

Seeing the scene once was enough for me to get the truth of it. The fact that Agatha said she was raised since age 3 to marry this man also got across the point of the awfulness of that marriage.

  8. I was pleasantly surprised by this series. Didn't expect it to have as much depth as it did. It was more character study than anything else, and I rather enjoyed that.

Loved to see the beginning of Charlotte and Agatha's friendship. Also loved all of Agatha and Violet's scenes in the present day.

The ending with George and Charlotte in their spot under the bed was lovely. What a beautiful full-circle moment for them. Wonderfully played by both actors.

I wonder what happened to Reynolds. I so enjoyed his and Brimsley's relationship. I hope it got to last at least a little while.

Can our next spin off be Violet finding a new man?  Cause the scene with Lady Danbury and her “garden” was fantastic. 😂😂

    I would watch this!

Loved this episode. Violet and Agatha's friendship is a delight to watch. And I'm glad young Agatha got a chance to come into her own through her friendship and romance with Lord Ledger.

  10. I'm loving the young Lady Danbury. Arsema Thomas is great in this role. Her scenes with the Queen are wonderful. Likewise, the scenes with present-day Lady Danbury and Lady Bridgerton are fantastic. I'm really enjoying the work of those two actresses.

I know many marriages worked like that in the past. But I really did not need to see Lady Danbury being raped again and again. Because that's how ir felt for me. Bad choice IMO.

I really hated those scenes, and I don't understand why the writers thought we needed to see more than one.

  11. Just read The Bangalore Detectives Club by Harini Nagendra for my monthly book club. I loved it! The main character Kaveri is wonderful - plucky, compassionate, and clever. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series, Murder Under a Red Moon. Definitely recommended for cozy mystery fans.

  12. Very excited for this Pedro Almodovar short starring Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal as gunslingers in love.

A man rides a horse across the desert that separates him from Bitter Creek. He comes to visit Sheriff Jake. Twenty-five years earlier, both the sheriff and Silva, the rancher who rides out to meet him, worked together as hired gunmen. Silva visits him with the excuse of reuniting with his friend from his youth, and they do indeed celebrate their meeting, but the next morning Sheriff Jake tells him that the reason for his trip is not to go down the memory lane of their old friendship...

  13. This show still has me yelling out in the middle of the episode 😃 When the Mandalorians got trapped, I yelled "OMG, it's a kill box!"

And now we see the threads of the season coming together. Moff Gideon has been pulling the strings all along: sending those pirates to Nevarro, preventing the New Republic from sending help, and having his troopers extract him from his transport to trial. So great to see Giancarlo Esposito back as Moff Gideon - and relishing it too!

Poor Grogu has already experienced so much trauma, and now he has to watch his father get captured by Moff Gideon. I feel like we're going to see Din's face in the finale. I can just see Gideon taking his mask off just to be extra disrespectful. Besides, seeing Din's face in the season finale is a tradition now!

RIP, Paz Viszla. You were kinda of an ass, but you went out like a hero.

She also seemed too nosy about Della's situation, which could be more sellable info?
    Maybe she needs money?

I immediately thought of the new secretary. I'm surprised neither Perry nor Della thought of that.

Grrr. I gotta stop reading comments to certain youtube videos.  To those who are bitching that Grogu got knighted for

'helping Lizzo cheat", here's a novel concept: Sometimes nice people give rewards to small children simply for being charmed by them. Nobody thinks Grogu saved the Holy Grail or something.  IMO every time this traumatized child gets to make a friend, gets shown affection, gets to have fun is reason to be glad for him.

People are complaining about that? lol. I loved that Grogu got knighted. And I loved his friendly rapport with the Dutchess.

  16. Bo & Din on the hunt for rogue droids gave me Law and Order vibes - right down to standing behind the desk of a computer tech to review evidence.

I forgot how hot Axe Woves is!

Oh hey, Lizzo & Jack Black! The Dutchess cuddling Grogu was adorable.

So, Din has not quite gotten over his bias against droids.

Loved seeing Ugnaughts again! And I loved that we got a little of Kuiil's music theme when we saw them.

Did the St. Marie scenes feel like they were green screened to anyone else?

I was wondering about this. It definitely looked like they weren't actually on Saint Marie (Guadeloupe)

  18. I liked season 2 more than season 1. Jean remains a good lead character: smart, relatable, and kind. So glad Barbara got caught. I didn't like her character at all - and not in the love-to-hate-the-villain way.

I'm also glad that Gloria's new boyfriend turned out not to be a bad guy grifter who was conning her. They seemed to be hinting strongly that was the case, so I'm relieved that was a misdirect.
